I'm making a big ol' pot of spicy salsa soup with shredded chicken breast. Also known as "it's time to clean out the fridge and use up some leftovers" soup.

If I had to pick one type of rice, it would be wild rice. Deliciously nutty and with a nice bite to it. Mmmmhmmmm

I have to admit that I've always fibbed about my weight on my license. The last time I said I weighed 200lbs when in reality I was probably closer to 220. I'm delighted to say that I now weigh 50lbs less than what it says on my license and I'm very much looking forward to putting my true weight on there when I renew in Feb.

Actually #2 is the lie. But I don't have a coccyx either. It was removed at birth
-
I say that #3 is the lie. 1. My parents once faked their murder and as a result I can no longer stomach the sight/smell/taste of ketchup 2. I met my boyfriend of 5 years at the farmer's market. 3. I don't know what it's like to bruise my tailbone because I don't actually have one. *edited because I'm a dolt

just have to say that I <3 The Wire.

First off, Rach I'm sorry I didn't weigh in last week. I was horribly embarrassed by what the scale revealed on Monday. I was on vacation for several days and, upon my return, the scale read 159! I:huh::grumble:   This past week has been focused on undoing the damage and I've successfully dropped the "vacation…

sounds like two of our cats. Apollo had an corneal abrasion that set us back ~$1500 and Sophie had an abcess that set us back ~$1200. Both worth every penny and I'd pay again in a heartbeat.

Three cats here. Apollo: nicknames include Apollo Ohno, Boogers, Cracky McCrackin', and Pollos. Sophie: Sophie Ophie, Princess Sophie, Jabba( she's got a bit of a weight issue) Luna: Luna Belle, Princess, Looney Luna, Meth head we call them other things but probably best not to post them here. lol

^^^ This. Getting healthy and losing unwanted fat isn't really as simple as changing what you eat. It's actually an extremely difficult process of changing how you think about food and nutrition. It took me ages to get to the point in my life when I was emotionally ready to make those changes and I can't even fathom that…

Honestly, I had a lovely hump of fat on the back of my neck when I was fat. It was gross and huge and I felt like the hunchback of Notre Dame. Guess what? That lump of fat was practically the first thing to disappear when I started losing weight. Now, at 104 lbs lighter, it completely disappeared and I can actually feel…

A couple of recommendations that may help you rein in the sodium a bit. If you like cheese, try Swiss cheese. I've found that of all the cheeses, Swiss happens to have the least sodium. I regularly eat Swiss cheese and the Sargento's and Jarlsberg varieties generally only have 30-40mg per slice. As far as chicken breasts…

According to my BF the sexiest parts of a woman's body are the small of her back and the backs of her knees. I'm a fan of collarbones and shapely shoulders and legs. On a man, I'd say his arms and the nape of his neck.

I'm 40 and have lost over 104 lbs in 8 months with very few issues at all and without a heavy exercise regime.

I'm 5'8" and my goal weight has changed several times throughout my journey. When I first started I wanted to reach a goal of 175 because that would take me out of the obese category and seemed attainable. As I got closer to that weight, I changed my goal to 165 as that put me at the high end of healthy. Once I reached…

Highest weight 277(first pic) start weight here 255 progress photo weight 155(bottom pic) goal of 140-145

Our Sophie (the tabby in my ticker) does that as well. She comes running to the front door when anyone visits as well. She LOVES all humans and simply tolerates our other two cats.

A giant spinach salad with red bell peppers, cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, celery, shrimp ceviche and raw hummus.

Ain't that the truth. We have three employers (cats) and the youngest thinks she has to come and get me every single time she's hungry, despite the fact that she can get to her food all on her own.
-
First picture in my signature was me at my heaviest at 277 or so, I started MFP at 255 and the picture on the bottom is me at 155 lbs.

that sounds really good. Might have to give that a "whirl".

I do cook and bake with the milk. Basically anything that calls for milk, I use almond milk. You should definitely hit up your relatives for almonds. I'm sure they have plenty to share.
-
ugh, that sucks. I remember when I used to live in Minnesota that wild rice was super cheap but definitely not the case here in California. Wonder what you get there on the cheap and we can work out a trade. ;)
-
Wanted to add that the almond meal left over can be used in various recipes and even dried and ground down into almond flour so it doesn't go to waste.
-
Definitely going to have to give it a shot. Couldn't hurt, could it?

I love love love Greek Yogurt. I alternate between Fage and Trader Joe's Both plain and non-fat. I like to mix in about a teaspoon of almond butter into 1/2 cup with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice for a dessert like treat. I use it in place of sour cream for everything, use it to replace oil in baking, use it for…

Veggies: jicama, carrots, celery, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, onions, turnips, mushrooms, field greens, spinach, romaine lettuce herbs, etc: garlic, mint, sage, basil, oregano, chives, thyme (all fresh) actually, I grow all of these at home fruits: apples, strawberries, blueberries, nectarines, peaches,…

I go through the same thing with several of my family members, including my father who's currently about 200 lbs overweight, has chronic edema, thrombosis, and has to use a wheelchair or scooter to get around. He had a stroke a little over a year ago and yet he continues to make excuses as to why he "can't" eat better. It…

Yeah, darn those ginormous signature blocks.
