I occasionally have joint pains and I can empathize with your knee problems. On a plus side though, you have a built in scale right there in your knees that tell you exactly when your weight is healthy or :noway:

I have the urge to "make up" for being bad too, but I would strive to not do that. The yoyo-ing between excess and shortage in calories can really mess you up. That said, your body is also quite resilient and the amount of yoyo-ing it can tolerate is different for everyone. So I would go with the rule of thumb to take each…

I like fresh unsalted fries dipped in milkshake or pudding. In'n'out fries with strawberry milkshake is mmmmmm. It's like fried ice cream but inside-out. My friend made me try PB and pickle sandwich once. I like it, it tasted very different from what I was expecting. I've voluntarily made myself a few more since then, but…

My goal weight comes from having been there 2 years ago and feeling healthy. The way I got there last time (completely unintentionally) was with a lot of ballroom dancing and semi-controlled eating since I found out I danced better if I don't eat 4 hours before (less food sitting in the middle throwing off my balance), but…

Yes MFP will adjust when you weigh in and enter your new weight.

That's an awesome idea!!

Maybe load on the calories earlier in the day? Another idea might be to keep post workout protein snacks in your gym back or locker. I have a bottle of protein shake (special K) and 1oz package of almonds in my locker. You can also get single serving packages of almond butter.

I second the edamame! Shelled or in the pod, great balance of carbs and proteins. They don't actually need to be boiled, just let them soak in a bowl of boiling water, drain and they are ready to go. Other things from TJ's: almond butter, greek style yogurt, freeze-dried berries (strawberries & blueberries are my fav),…

Hmm... perhaps I need to log my 30ds workout as something different. But under counting by around 50 Cal isn't going to be a big problem since I only have 100 Cal deficit per day. Thanks for reporting the numbers though! I am curious... Do the cals burned vary much from level to level?

I've eaten all my exercise cals back and it works fine. Think of the hard workout as a means to lose fat rather than to lose weight. Plus, you want to exchange the fat for muscle which will burn more calories for you all day long, not just during your workout. The main reason you eat the exercise cals is to make sure you…

Totally second that. And yes, eat as much of your exercise calories back as you can.

I think they also estimate the difference from the time spent exercising that you enter to set your goals. Plus your daily just being alive calories (which is your BMR) isn't that high. My BMR is 1360, and if you divide by 24, it's about 57 Cal per hour. Unless you workout for hours each day, I don't believe you are over…

Go to Tools -> Weight Loss Ticker, and select Update your weigh data. If you change your starting weight to your current weight, it will shift everything up.

I log it under general aerobics (20 mins = 135 Cal) which I'm pretty sure is less than what I burn, but I prefer to err on the side of less.

I aim to workout everyday unless I'm physically unable to do it. Most of the time I manage this. But a workout for me is not only going to the gym. I might walk to the grocery store or walk to get lunch which are both at least a 1-mile round trip. I might bike to work instead of driving. It might be a 20 min aerobics…

Totally second guggpgirl in the taking your time with eating. Put your utensil down after every bite (maybe even take a sip of water, that'll help you get in the 8 glasses a day if you have trouble with it). I love to cook and this has really helped me cook tastier foods b/c I'm carefully tasting the food to see how to…

I miss bread and pasta. I think the key is to reduce your intake rather than to cut it out entirely. I measure out my pasta by the ounce, my rice by the cup and weigh out the grams of bread I eat. I think the process of seeing the amount, finding out the nutritional content, and then feeling what that does in my body helps…

Yeah, I found this out with my digital bathroom scale. You should always weigh yourself on solid, non-cushy ground. It also sometimes mattered how I stood on the scale so occasionally I'll weigh myself a few times to check that the number is right rather than me standing funny.

It doesn't matter how many times you fall down, as long as you pick yourself up and keep going. Learn from why you fell, but don't worry if you fall a few more times... we need practice making mistakes so we can see it coming and learn to not fall. On a side note, I was feeling good today so I offered myself temptation by…

YES, the sauce matters a lot. You want something that will stick and you cook the sauce into the noodles. It is also really important to wash the noodles really well, then boil them for 3-5 mins, and pat them as dry as you can BEFORE you use them with the sauce. I made them with teriyaki chicken the first time. I'm…

I make rules for myself and tell my bf who helps me stick to them. Small cheat: Treat rule-- isn't really cheating since I have to stay within my cal goals. I get no more than one treat per day, and I cannot have a repeat of that treat in the next 7 days, but I can have a different treat the next day. You have to decide…

Bright minds think alike, you beat me to it!!
-
Slice it up, package in freezer bags and toss them in the freezer! That way you have portion controlled treats that are out of sight.
-
You can also add or substitute crushed almonds in it for a bit more protein. I have my variation of HG's recipe that I keep changing each time I make it. Yum!!
-
That reminds me of a berry dipping sauce I had once. Sour cream, brown sugar and grand marnier (orange liqueur). I prefer my strawberries naked, but for this sauce I was willing to make an exception.

One day a year, you should be able to just let loose and enjoy. Happy birthday!! An aside, I have a 30 day super cheat rule where I allow myself a mental health day where I just eat what I want and do what I want. Doesn't mean I stuff my face as fast as I can, just means I'm not going to sweat the little things and be…

Ditto! But seriously, maybe your gym needs better ventilation? Is there a fan you can do your workout near?

Fiber one original bran! 1/2 cup has 10% calcium along with other goodies (fiber, iron, even a little protein). I make an evening snack with 1/2 cup cereal, 1/2 cup Nancy's plain honey yogurt and that gives me 27.5% of my daily calcium in only 145 Cal. I don't like to take supplements. I have them in case I'm short…

Or maybe "Leave me alone, you're fat." would get them to not talk to you anymore. Wow this thread is really fanning my snarky side... so at least in my case, it is probably best to stay silent unless I'm sure I want to burn bridges. Besides, a silent look that says "Really? Are you really saying that to me? What are you,…

Oh and about those abs, I read a great quote on the MFP forums a few weeks back. Goes something like "Most people have washboard abs; they just pile lumpy laundry on top of them." I love the imagery and it's totally true! I can feel the "6 pack" when I flex... hiding under about an inch of fluff. Your abs are your core…
