Thank you for all the feedback! I think I'm most comfortable with "I'm talking and don't want my mouth full" and the "I don't like to eat while I'm teaching." I can handle that. I do have to reinforce the cleaning up after yourselves problem. It's hard because some of the other classes leave the room a mess and I have to…

When I ordered lunch from the food truck, I didn't buy the blackberry lemonade I like.

Best way would be to get the junk food out of the house. Do everything you can to get as much of it as you can out. Since it sounds like you probably can't get a lot of it out, pick one food (say, no twix bars or no doritos) each day that you will resolve not to eat. Start small, then when you have had some success, make…

Seriously right!?! I put on a t-shirt today and I was positively swimming in it. I thought my shirt wasn't there because it wasn't snug against my sides.

I completely agree. I didn't even realize my clothes don't fit right (just tightened my belt and thought it'd be ok). Then my friend the pants-Nazi pointed her finger at me and told me to get new pants. It was so cool to see that I had dropped several pant sizes!! It was also kind of expensive, but hey... there are worse…

WOOHOO!! I hated running as a child. Before the age of 30, I had never run a whole mile continuously. Little by little, I ran a little more (sometimes motivated by wanting to get to a blackberry bush on my run) and I am still amazed that I can run 3 miles now. Very slowly going for 4 miles now... it's still so hard and I…

Oh man, glad you have the sense of humor to confess! One slip up won't ruin it all (you probably already know this  ) I can't say I've ever sleep-ate and the idea worries me! My sister sleep-walks... I can't say I've ever put tartar sauce on my pizza either, but now that you've put the idea in my head, I want to try!…

I usually pack an ounce of nuts/seeds of some sort in my gym bag. That's 100-200 Cal of snacks I can munch while changing or walking to my car. I try to get fairly plain nuts like raw almonds and salted pumpkin seeds. I'm often worried that I might skip the gym because something comes up or I just get lazy. Happens less…

I agree. Not boring and exactly what I want my last words to be too.

I think we all retain some of our "bad" habits and I don't think it's a bad thing. I still like potato chips but I ration it out by weighing out 1 oz ziploc baggies of them.

Hahahah, I thought the point of good sprinters is that you barely get to see their backside as they disappear in the dust? =P

My weight is so sensitive from day to day that it doesn't stress me out to accept a pound or 2 gain. I get to accept something else the next day! Maybe it's not such a bad thing to weight yourself everyday... the ups and downs don't freak me out as much anymore.

I think it's because many of us are not the best judge of our food intake and activity level... so there are going to be over/under estimates. The other big reason is that the research based calculations are based on studies with large populations, which means you are getting the "average" person. It might be close for…

Deli sliced roast beef... that's what I'm having for lunch today. I also often have cold roast chicken breast (buy at deli or leftover from roasting chicken). I like my food cold in this summer heat. I also hard boil a bunch of eggs and keep them in the fridge for snacking. They keep up to 3 days cooked, unpeeled. Most of…

Perhaps wear an ankle support to give it a little extra protection? Also there are lots of exercises you can do that don't stress your ankles-- swimming comes to mind, biking, etc. You can also do small exercises to strengthen you ankles. One of my favorites (great for killing time) is to draw letters of the alphabet in…

Oishii, I am always amazed at your maintenance calories since it's easily 8-900 cals more than mine before exercise. Are you set at active or very active in your diet profile where it asks you about your activity level? I'm set at sedentary since I do spend my work time at a computer, but I exercise daily. But the biggest…

Me too, but since I started as a 34A there wasn't much boob to lose. I'm a 32B now but look just as flat as before... possibly more flat. But then I'm not complaining. I get to wear the cheapo sports bras which I didn't fully appreciate until I saw my more busty friends break their wallets on bras so they can run w/o…

I'm lucky enough to have a gym locker so I keep all my gym gear there. But that also means I need duplicates of some of the gear for out of gym exercises. I have an extra sports bra, socks and running shoes at the office. In the summer it's not that big a deal since I usually bike to work and already have workout clothes…

I occasionally give myself a cheat day where I just let loose, knowing full well I will have to work hard for at least the next week to deal with it. The difference is that I go into the cheat day calmly and rationally. I've made a conscious decision and not an emotional reaction. For me, it helps me recognize the…

I look specifically for entries that say cooked or raw. The calorie numbers are quite different. In other words, you can weight either cooked or raw, just use a database entry with a description that says cooked or raw specifically.

Either I'm not doing sex right  or I'm doing dancing really well . I do ballroom dancing 1 hr a week, sometimes more :blushing:

Perhaps it's the cost of all the fun chemists have!

I feel your pain! As a chemist and science educator, it makes me shudder how many words culture has borrowed from science to mean completely different things. "chemical-free zone" or "chemical-free salad bar" makes me want to laugh (or cry in despair... depending on my mood), really? That's must be a zero-cal salad you are…

Would it help if you put on 2 extra pounds and try to maintain there? Would that cause you less worry when you lose a little due to fluctuations? I have the opposite problem... I get stressed when I gain a little so I go a little below my goal weight so I have room to gain. I think part of my problem is that I feel like I…

MFP adjusts your goal net cals every 10 lbs you lose. You can go in manually and set new goals if you want, but you don't need to. From my experience, you get about 50-100 fewer cals every 10lbs you lose.

For the last month or so, I track my weight everyday first thing in the morning. And then I use the stability of that to figure out how much I should eat and exercise. I got to be pretty steady with about at most 1lb up or down from day to day. For me, that requires net cals to be about 100 less than MFP gave me. You…

I second that!!
