wow this thread is busy! its hard to keep up with everyone. (which is a good thing! ) People talk about jerky all the time but I always presumed that it is a really gross food that was basically sweets rather than a form of protein. I'm not sure if i can get it here (i like in ireland) but ill have a look. also, im…

hey everyone. I did stage 2, b2 today and my legs are killing me again! I normally do some sort of exercise most days, i lift 3 days and then I usually run 3 days and then add in some horse riding and some walking but yesterday I had to take a day off and just walk, my quads felt tired just going up the stairs! On the plus…

Hi everyone, I have been lurking here for a while trying to get an idea of how everyone else is getting on with the programme but things just got dirty so I decided that this was the perfect time to join in!  Yesterday I did stage 2 workout A2. I can't believe how short the stages have gotten, i'll be…

Scald the cup before making the tea - half fill with almost boiling water and sluice it around. Then make the tea with freshly boiled water. Also the brand is very important. As an Irish person I am a total tea snob and will not drink anything other than Lions or Barrys (Irish brands) to the extent that when I am going…

I just did stage 2 workout B1 and Im not sure I can walk anymore!! I 'rested yesterday' after workout A1 by going for my first cycle in over a year and my quads were screaming at me. Before the gym today I went horse riding and could barely hold myself on with my legs they were so tired, and then I went to the gym and did…

Maya, thanks for the advice on the split squat. That makes sense. Your progress pics are incredible! I hope you feel very proud of what you have achieved so far because...wow! Cat: I love you attitude about the weight, so many people would freak out regardless of how slowly it was going on. i love that you can see the…

Everyone is doing great. Its so inspiring to read this thread and hear how you are all getting on. Red: I always bring my music to the gym but the speaker on my phone is broken so the sound is really bad and I can't hear it over the crappy music that the stupid boys are playing! :explode: Sunshine: those shoes sound good.…

I agree with the above poster, your shoes could be too tight. This used to happen to me all the time whether I was running or walking. I went to a running shop and the guy said that your feet swell when you exercise so you need to wear looser shoes. I now wear running shoes that are a size bigger than what I would normally…

Oh don't worry, I am not backing out! let me know how you get on, knowing that it is hard and boring will just mean that I am prepared for it!

I did the AMRAP workouts for both workout A and workout B because I felt it was too short a session with just one of them. I also don't really enjoy high rep workouts so I wanted to get it out of the way. I was shaking pretty badly though coming out of the gym so I think I got a good workout in!! I also tried the front…

Pudding1980: My gym has removable weights that can be added to the stack of weights on the cable machines so that you can go up in smaller increments. Does your gym have anything like that? Maya I am also curious to see how you get on with stronglifts. I am loving this programme so far but I mainly love squats and…

Thanks for the advice guys. I did B7 yesterday and stuck with 15lbs for the shoulder press. my shoulder was still crunching a little but it wasn't sore so I continued on. I went up to 105lbs on the deadlift, 71 on the lat pull down, 20lbs for the lunges and crunches with a dumbbell held over my head. Afterwards I went on…

that is awesome that you have seen such great results. I haven't lost any weight since November  But I am only 4lbs off my goal weight so I don't really mind but I really hope I see some reduction in bodyfat % after lifting for a while. I looked at 5X5 before I picked NROL4W and also thought that it looked a little…

Thanks, I had pretty much decided not to do it but when I read some of the posts on here it seemed like people found it really tough so I became less committed to skipping it! I think now that maybe I will do it but use weights from a later date.

Thanks guys, I have read through a lot of the threads and there is some great information on there. I just finished workout A7 so I am very close to finishing stage 1. My gym is quite small and I sometimes have to change the order of the exercises because others are using the equipment, for example today I did the step ups…

Hi everyone. I am about halfway through stage one and figured it would be a good idea to join in here to get some encouragement from other people. I had a read through some of the most recent posts and you guys are all amazing!!

is this the same as the previous hunger games challenge? I missed that one and I was raging! count me in!
-
Congratulations on getting started. And don't worry about the weight, as long as it is heavy for you! I started at about the same and have gone up a bit but still use pretty tiny weights. Although I just did workout B5 and I am up to 90lbs deadlift so I am pretty happy with that!
-
Good question! I am also just finished B3 so no changes here yet. I wont be near the gym for the next week so won't get to do A4 till Thursday at the earliest! :explode:
-
Wow, I am just starting the programme so results like these are great motivation. You look great!
-
I wasn't planning on taking part in this mini challenge because I am focusing on building muscle so I was going to cut back on cardio but I have actually done 240 mins which I am very surprised at! I also got in the 90 mins of strength training.

Phrasing!! I also heart Archer! And I am jealous that you are bulking. I still have lots of fat to shed but I am aiming to be at a point when I can bulk by next autumn. I love food!

Where's my fricken pony???  But also you sound a lot like me. except i don't drink coffee. I have just started NROLFW and there is a group here dedicated to that which is good but the eat train progress group is a must if you aren't already a member. If you want a friend feel free to join me but just to warn…

Im tagging this post for reference for the next time someone expresses concern that by lifting heavy I will pack on all those gross muscles!

I wondered that too. I am also hypothyroid but taking medication daily. i didn't have any trouble losing most of my weight but it hasn't budged since before christmas. I am interested in any replies.

I think thats a good idea because it stops you from getting complacent and makes sure that you keep pushing yourself. Today I did A3 but came away from the gym feeling very annoyed. I go to a small gym and there is only one power cage (is that what they are called?) and no squat rack. When I got to the gym 2 guys were…

From what I understand we up the weights whenever the reps decrease, or beforehand if we are able. I just did B2 today. And then went horse riding afterwards, I can feel my muscles tightening up already. tomorrow I am going to hurt!
-
I love your username redlipstickly! And yes the workouts do take a lot out of you! I did workout B today and I loved it all except for the lunges. I hate lunges!! I did my first set with 10lbs dumbbells and only managed 10 reps so I went down to 4kg dumbbells and again only managed 10 reps! Pudding1980, I agree on…

Ok, I concur that both Dazz and Shelley have been incredible team mates (and sorry guys that i didn't see that and tried to take your title away from you!) but I still think that Angi deserves a special recognition award! Thanks for being a great captain!
