  • I'm ok. it was only scary for the couple of seconds it took to mentally scan my body to make sure nothing was seriously injured before struggling to climb back up on the horse (not easy when one half of your body is aching!). I'm just a little bit stiff now but it has eased off a lot. I'll get back to lifting when I get…
  • Hi everyone. I hope you all had a good weekend. I went horse riding on Saturday and had quite a bad fall. Nothing broken, just badly bruised and walking hurts. On top of that I seem to have caught a flu or something so I am spending the day curled up on the couch and not going anywhere near the gym. Hopefully tomorrow I…
  • I am also in. I have been slacking off lately and need to get back on track. My weekly goals are: 1. Lift 3 times per week 2. Cardio 3 times per week 3. At least 100 grams of protein per day.
  • Julie, i am in awe of your BWM times. It used to take me about 5 minutes to do that and I hated it so much that I started finding excuses not to do it (like, oh no, I made it to the gym a half hour before it closes, I guess that means i don't have time for the BWM. Shucks.) Sam, I have Addisons Disease. its an autoimmune…
  •  Inky, you are hilarious! I have visions of me in the gym with this contraption on watching Buffy while pelting out some deadlifts! Gigi, welcome to the team. Yes, hiking most definitely counts. I love hiking!
  • Where can I get one of these? Just last week a friend of mine told me not to go to the gym, to stay home and watch buffy instead. I was very proud of myself that I managed to resist the temptation! I think my reward for finishing this challenge will be a Buffy marathon, including all the comics! :drinker: :drinker: TJ, I…
  • And pma, you look good. You actually manage to pull off the singlet! I'm impressed!
  • Ok, so I have been put on new medication by my doctor for a trial so hopefully that will give me the energy to lift. My workout on Tuesday sucked because I was so tired. :explode: I also need to remember to take my waist measurement in the morning before I start filling my belly so that I have a starting point to lose 1…
  • Hey, I'm Louise. I've been on here for what feels like forever and have been trying to lose the last few pounds for the last year. Its not going to well, I've gone from needing to lose 4lbs to wanted to lose 10! I am almost finished the New Rules of Lifting for Women programme and am planning on starting New rules of…
  • I'm in again. I'm going for the advanced team and Michonne. Because she has a big *kitten* sword.
  • I can't remember what weights I was lifting at the end of stage 1 but I'm fairly certain that you are beating me on all lifts! However, whats more important that the absolute weight that you lift, is the relative weight to you. Do you feel like you could go heavier and still maintain good form? If so then go for it. But…
  • Hey everyone. Sorry I have been MIA lately. I haven't been feeling well and have been really busy. I'm only getting in 2 lifting sessions a week which really sucks but I am hoping that next week I will do better. Jamaican, I am in on the losing 1 inch from the waist by the end of the year. I need something to keep me…
  • Manic, yay! so glad you got the all clear from the doc. Love, go easy on your back and let it heal. I hurt my back too and i tried lifting again too soon afterwards and that put me out for another week. I agree with trying some gentle yoga stretches to see if that helps but don't do anything that hurts. My hamstrings are…
  • wine festival? can I come? I started stage 7 today. wow that hurt. after the second set of lunges my legs were screaming and the thought of doing 2 more sets made me want to run away. But I couldn't because my legs no longer worked!
  • Hi everyone. I am once again back from life getting in the way of working out and eating right. I have gained lots of weight in the last month so time to get focused on my diet again! I'm aiming for 1550 calories per day plus exercise calories but its not working out too well... i've been over every day this week! Pmag,…
  • I have seen short guys using a step at the end of the bench to rest their feet on so they don't have to reach down to the ground. Would something like that work for you?
  • I agree with using a barbell. Also what size step are you using? Maybe if you up the height of the step you will get more of a leg workout without having to up the weights.
  • This was great to read. Red you are such an inspiration. Congratulations on all you have achieved so far. I am enjoying stage 6 of NROLFW but since I have ordered supercharged i am really looking forward to reading that and getting started on a whole new programme.
  • Julie, I have the same problem with my back, there is one spot that gets hurt very easily. I hurt it doing deadlifts at the end of stage 4 and had to take a week and a half off to rest it. I got a massage and that helped loads. I haven't done deadlifts since (because they haven't been in the programme) but I think my back…
  • What particular autoimmune disease do you have? There are quite a lot of them and i would imagine the nutritional needs would be quite different. For example, someone with ceoliac disease would have to avoid gluten, but I have addison's disease and others in my family have type 1 diabetes, hypothyroidism, and eczema and…
  • Hi everyone, I havent been here in a while so there is a lot to catch up on. Jo, three months with the in-laws? Why would anyone do that??? it sounds awful. and I love my in-laws but after a weekend with them I always want to get away. Manic, sounds like you have been through a really hard time. I hope you are feeling…
  • Kim, you sound just like me. Except that I was only diagnosed with Addisons 2 and a half years ago. Im about at maintenance level and I stopped paying attention to my diet for the last month because i was stressed with college and I gained back 10lbs!! Now I am getting worried that maintenance will be really hard for me.…
  • Hi. I have primary Addisons. I was diagnosed about 2 years ago and subsequently put on a lot of weight. I don't have your issue with not being able to get my heart rate up. What medication are you on? I was on hydrocortisone which I took in the morning, at lunch time and in the evening. My body stopped absorbing that so my…
  • I got a pair of asics a couple of years ago and as a result learned what shin splints feel like. So I went to a runner store and got my gait analysed and different running shoes and have had no problem since. I reiterate what others have said - go to a good running store and get a gait analysis done.

  • wow, DNA, That is awesome!! I am jealous of everyone experiencing heat. Our summer is well and truly over. its feckin freezing here!! I did 6B yesterday and it was hard because i am still sore from Monday's workout! Its very short! I did 2 sets of everything and I was finished within about 20 minutes so I added in an extra…
  • I started stage 6 today. I think I really like it. I was nervous about doing the negative chin ups because I wasn't sure if I could even get myself into the starting position but they actually went ok. I have 3 more weeks of just focussing on getting some exercise in and not worrying about my eating while I finish my…
  • Thanks Ali, Thats a good idea. I'll have a look and see if I can find anything like that near here.
  • I made it to the gym today to do the last workout in stage 5. But now my back is sore! :explode: :explode: Its been a little sore for the last week or so but I think it was from being slumped over a desk all the time and that a workout would help. Turns out I was wrong. So what do I do? I have been resting it for over a…
  • Hey everyone. I was feeling guilty that I haven't lifted in so long but it looks like I am no the only one. Sunshine you don't have to worry about being left in the dust, we were at exactly the same stage of the programme and I also haven't worked out for over a week. We moved house last week and with the stress of that…
  • Hey guys, just a quick check in to say that I am still here. Exactly one month today till the thesis is due in and I am moving house tomorrow so its been pretty stressful here. I'm still getting my workouts in but i rarely have time to do a full one. Only one B workout left in stage 5 but I haven't always done the core…
