"Thank you" to the two people who posted (fivethreeone & jwdieter). I guess I got what I expected... one said I was eating to little, and the other said the first was wrong.

Huh?

Never heard of this one, but thanks for posting. According to the website, "TrendWeight uses the methodology described by John Walker in his online book, The Hacker's Diet." If you want to check out John Walker's original work, go to http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/. There is a link to Mr. Walker's Hacker's Diet Online.

I lost 50 pounds (215 to 165) in 5 months. People close to me said, "You're too skinny!" And... I listened. I stopped tracking what I ate, and went back to my old, comfortable habits. I've lost 30 pounds so far this time. I've had people start to say "skinny" again. I blatantly (and over-dramatically) plug my ears with my…

Yes, definitely LM. I've given this a lot of thought recently and my idea of what to look for: 1. Sensible shoes (no pointy-toed, 4 inch stilettos) 2. Natural hair color (I don't care if it is brown or blonde or red or grey, as long as that is what occurs naturally) 3. Minimal piercings (one pair of earrings is enough) 4.…

This is my third time "starting" on MFP, and I had to lose 8 pounds just to get back to my starting weight from Dec 2010. I do the same thing; I see results and think, "yeah this is easy", then it gets too easy and the pounds stop coming off. I know exactly how you feel -- you simply cannot quit food cold-turkey.

My last two week vacation, I lost 2 pounds.

Yeah. And?

I don't think she made any mistakes. The things she did were not stupid. I'm not qualified to say whether she needs help... Sounds to me like she is living her life on her own terms and has come to understand the reality that ingesting fewer calories than you burn, over time, will ultimately result in weight loss--no…

You are not alone. I also "lettered" in HS (track), but I'm not a sports kind of person. I'm a season ticket holder for the local professional baseball team, but that is because I'm a "Sharon fan" (my wife) and *she* likes sports. I went to lacrosse and football games (and marching band competitions, for that matter) when…

Dogs should be leashed. Not only should they be leashed, only people big enough to restrain the dog when it is pulling as hard as it can should be at the other end of the leash. Predicting human behavior is hard enough. Dog are not human. No matter how much you treat them like humans, you cannot tell under what…

My friend, you aren't doing anything wrong. You've lost 14 pounds in 6 weeks -- that's 2.3 pounds per week. Most people would call that success!

I guess I don't count (calories). I have never used a scale and I probably never will. I don't even measure my food usually. I did at first, just to get an idea what 1 cup, or 2 Tbsp looks like. Rather than counting, I guess, I guesstimate. People can say what they want about the importance of accuracy and all that, but…

People plan these things? They just, sort of, happen to me.

That sounds interesting. Do you cook them before shredding? When I cook hashbrowns, it is usually with left-over baked potatoes.

That's it! I'm looking for a prude. I like women who are proper in conduct and speech, modest in dress.

My anniversary is "Cinco de Mayo" so, for lunch, we went to a Mexican place we hadn't tried before. I have no idea how restricted your caloric intake is, but with my 1550 cal/day and 150-200 calories burned during exercise, I feel 500-600 calories per meal is acceptable. I had a enchilada combination plate (1 beef…

I weigh every day, in the morning. I use the weight tracking method used the "The Hacker's Diet" -- an exponentially smoothed moving average with 10% smoothing. I only log my trend weight, not the highly variable raw data.

How much math are you willing to do?

I tried SparkPeople but the mobile version was such a pain that I didn't use it. The mobile app for this site is much better. I find that the full-web version of this site is also easier to use than SparkPeople. Plus, all the bells-and-whistles (earning points and articles and what-not) get distracting.

No one else *should* be able to change you. We allow them to side-track us from our goals. Several years ago, I weighed 215lbs and lost (over six months) down to 165lbs. I felt fit and healthy, but I listened to my close friends and family saying "You're too skinny." I quit tracking my calories and exercise and, before…

I use The Hacker's Diet Online to "trend" my weight. (Actually I use an Android app called "Libra" but it is based on the principals of the Hacker's Diet.) It allows me to see progress that overcomes the emotional roller-coaster of the day-to-day measurement of body mass. I only record my trend weight here on MFP. If…
