  • 1. 1 Peter 3:7 says, "Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel..." The "weaker vessel" is like "fine china" compared to "Tupperware". Don't treat your wife like Tupperware, treat her like fine china. 2. If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
  • Reading through this topic is amazing. You guys are amazing to eat on $500-$800 per month. My family of 4 adults (in Southern California) spends over $1500 per month on food (groceries, restaurants, fast food).

  • I found a great calculator the other day. The Body Weight Planner. Using my accumulated data, it seems pretty accurate. https://www.supertracker.usda.gov/bwp/
  • As helpful as the initial reply may have been, I'll take the question at face value: Reference #1 lists "yard work, general, vigorous effort" as 6.0 METs. Reference #2 shows the formula for calories burned as "Calories = METS x weight (kg) x time (hours)". Based on your profile information, I'm guessing you're about 205…

  • My Charge HR's battery died while installing firmware update. One phone call and a replacement was on the way. It took about 4 days to receive the new unit.
  • When I search for walking at 3.0 mph, it gives two options -- with and without the dog. =============
  • A bug-free version of any software exists only in the mind of its developer. Before anyone can "dig deeper into the nutrient density of the food", they're going to need to clean up their database -- garbage in-garbage out has been a by-word for decades.

  • USDA Food database classifies pizza (including Domino's) as "fast food". But, perhaps, they don't recognize anything other than "chain food" as food, which would explain why no non-chain pizzas show up. http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/foods NDB No. Description Food Group 21277 DOMINO'S 14" Cheese Pizza, Classic Hand-Tossed…
  • No response from OP in 1-1/2 hours. I call "troll".
  • Or, just a couple slices of pumpkin pie... Or, a few pieces of fudge... Or, a slice of cheesecake.... Really! It isn't that hard to go 600-700 calories over day. Maybe it isn't water weight.

  • You can enter the information for all the ingredients individually, or you can enter a recipe. By entering a recipe, you can log it later if you eat the same dish. Recipes can be entered manually by specifying how much of each ingredient is in the dish, or by referencing an online recipe. Good luck
  • I'm interested, too. I have used a Withings Pulse, and currently use Accupedo. Both track steps & total calories, and sync with MFP so they both make adjustments to my allowed calories. But... These devices (or apps) don't handle other cardio exercises (swimming, cycling, etc) well, and MFP assumes they are the end-all,…
  • Go ahead and log it! Knowledge is power and knowledge is build up over time with facts. My worse binge (and I know this because I log everything) was 6550 total calories of which 1532 (23%) were sugar. Yes, I made myself sick.
  • Your welcome. :) It is all too easy to beat yourself up when you feel bad about eating badly, but the reality of the situation is often not as bad as you think it is.
  • I agree that real-world results are the best gauge of how much you should eat. I have been doing this for over a year and can tell you empirically that at 5' 8" and 167 lbs, my TDEE is around 2300-2500. My exercise consists only of walking 3-5 miles per day.
  • One of the problems I've found with MFP, machines, and HRM is they all tend to estimate total calories instead of net calories. Think about asking these two questions: 1. How many calories did I burn by doing "Exercise A" for 30 minutes? 2. How many *more* calories did I burn by doing "Exercise A" for 30 minutes, compared…
  • This -- only mine goes back for 6 years and my official weigh-in is my trend weight on Monday.
  • Wow! Your feel old? I had recently retired from the Navy. The clock-radio woke us up with a report that a plane crashed into the WTC. I thought, "Probably some Cesna pilot out of control." Boy, was I wrong!
  • Decided against it, huh?
  • In the last year and a half, I have lost 60 pound and spent maybe 5 minutes on an elliptical. On the other hand I walk 3-5 miles a day at 3.4-3.6 mph. Walking *is* exercise.
  • Definitely talk to your parents about it. Talk to anyone you think might be able to help you. But remember, the people you talk to can *only hep* you. You have to find the triggers and resolve them. I also binge eat. Recently I started really thinking about how I felt when I wanted to eat; not just emotionally, but what…

  • I shifted to maintenance about 3 months ago, and I fully intend to continue logging both my food and my weight for the rest of my life. I have proved to myself that I cannot trust myself to say "enough is enough" -- my body just says "more, more, more". I weigh everyday and use math to trend the raw data. With this…
