I'm thinking that if the US were really in a National Security threat position, the amount of weight or how out of shape a person was would make no difference at all....otherwise, all one would have to do to avoid being drafted would be to gain excessive weight....don't see it making a difference that way. But yes all of…

Got 150 to go here (but I've lost 15 of that already).

You need to find good food that can replace the good tasting crap food. I like my shakes...they taste even better than ice cream. They are a meal replacement shake that I make with frozen strawberries or any fruit really...my fave is strawberry....because the berries are frozen, it's a lot like soft icecream but tastier.…

I started at 324 and am down to 308. In about 5 weeks. AND I can honestly say I have not been perfect about my diet and exercise in the last 3 weeks. But if you really want to do this, you will. Good on you for teaching your children how to be healthy. I failed in that and now my daughter is 5'3 and close to 350 lbs. She's…

Poached in lemon juice with some dill sprinkled on...about half a teaspoon of olive oil under the fillets before you put the lemon juice in..........mmmmm....

I often do this too....it doesn't have much of a strong taste on it's own but I mix with some wholewheat pasta and top with pasta sauce...cuts down the carbs yet fills you up.

That's one I don't have yet...I will be getting it this month though....I love Bob Harper and I loved his last book, Are You Ready! I thought there was a lot of really good information in that.

I have around 150 lbs to lose....*sigh*....BUT the first goal is 50 lbs by end of January....almost halfway there! Anyone is free to add me!

Re: bloating: I have been known to gain as much as 30 + lbs overnight (almost) in bloating. There's a good chance that more is bloating than you think. Of course, 2 or 3 pounds out of 5 makes your gain 2-3 lbs, right, and that's not so bad. Even a 5 lb gain isn't bad considering you haven't been eating the best lately. I…

Average is not YOU. I would keep the highest number as your long term goal, but don't just look at that. You want smaller goals along the way to focus on. WHEN you get to that highest number, see how you feel. If you feel you can stand to lose a few more (that's a pretty huge range, btw...usually I get a 10 lb range), then…

Agreed...I actually like the show, in part, for the same reasons....quite frankly though, I prefer the Australian version to the US version though I love the US trainers. I've read their books and think there is some really valuable information. I, however, am happy if I have small weight losses, and realize that this is a…

This is awesome advice. I did a lot of this. My daughter is really bad for sabotaging my plan. At one point I had to have her cook meals and it was impossible to track because you never knew what went in your food. Same with grocery shopping...get to the checkout and there would be a whole whack of junk. I did some…

I think the best thing to do is make up a list of pros and cons for staying or going. Also take into account how it makes you feel over all and on a day to day basis. I worked for the Canadian government for 17 years. During much of that time, I was bullied and harassed, discriminated against due to a disability, had my…

I totally know what you mean. I have been keeping a really close eye on my sodium intake and have kept my levels very low. Then yesterday I bought some potato chips. WOW! I sure noticed the effect of the sodium nearly immediately. My legs noticeably began to swell, and I'm feeling very puffy and my skin feels really tight…

Great job! It isn't an easy task. I did it myself about 10.5 years ago....I DID gain weight but never regretted quitting regardless.

LOL@ fairly high....they are PACKED with sodium. *wink*....Your quality of calories is also important. You can't really go by your partner either. Aside from the gender difference (guys lose differently than girls), he has different metabolism, an activity level than you do. I have been known to literally gain as much as…

I've been on it about 3 weeks and have lost 14 lbs so far. And over the last 2 weeks, I have not been able to do any exercise so all the latest is strictly diet related.

I think there are many who are missing the point of this topic. The point seems to me to be a discussion as to whether or not it is the airline's fault that she died. No, I don't think it is. To my knowledge, airlines are governed by the rules of the country of origin. Therefore, the airline that did transport her to…

I'm starting tonight after work. I'm really excited to try this. That's kind of weird cause I'm historically a couch spud.

I have been known to gain up to 35 lbs in a week all due to an increased sodium level. I have an imbalance however, but it shows you how extreme sodium intake can be. Not only did you likely increase calories, but very likely, if your celebration was like most of my family's, your sodium intake was through the roof. I…

Almost 11 years ago I was put on Effexor (venlafaxine ) and I gained 120 lbs in 4 months. I knew at that time something was very wrong but since the side effect sheet didn't (and still doesn't) claim extreme weight gain as a side effect, I was not believed. I took my calorie intake down as far as 1000 calories but still…

I have been doing these shakes. I like them. They are merely a part of my diet plan just like anyone else uses other brands. I like the nutritional value of them, and so far I've lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks. They have a good fiber and protein content which fill me up and I am now eating much smaller portions than I used to. I…

I've heard of several studies, all contradicting, of course, some that say that walking doesn't help weight loss, and some that say it does. I don't really think it matters. I think you become fitter if you walk. I know when I walk I can breathe easier, and I feel good. I can't say I've particularly lost weight, as I…

All my bras are falling apart, so this wouldn't have been a measure for me....but for the last 3 days I've noticed that my t-shirts are fitting a whole lot looser. This morning I put on a pair of slacks and they were a bit snug but I was too much in a rush to worry about it. THEN I found out they were not the pair I…

I am not able to read the article where I'm at, but I got the general idea. I know that until I committed myself to a FULLY BALANCED lifestyle change (and this included things unrelated to weight loss and fitness), I was entirely unsuccessful in losing any weight. If I gained anything, I found anyone and anything I could…
