  • Yep it is all wildernessy....and we live in igloos too......hehehe....I'd smuggle you some Maple syrup to LA but I would have to come with it....to freaking cold here!
  • I totally understand how you feel. I am currently 340 lbs, and while my food consumption is generally reasonable and healthy, I have not been able to drop weight even with a fitness component. I have few supports, and of those few, none are family except for my daughter. I would be more than happy to work with you on this…
  • Yikes! I'd be at 330 grams per day!
  • Absolutely agreed. I have come to the conclusion (and I've always really known it) that my eating is not really an issue. But the more I focus on it, the more obsessed I get, and the hungrier I always am. When I don't think about it, I make healthy choices and really am on track no matter which way you look at it. THAT's…
  • Ok...tried to post a photo....got a link instead....sorry
  • Got a T-Shirt in a smaller size I'm looking forward to fitting..... Something like this:…
  • I recently had some money issues (still do but not so extreme as before). My daughter who paid part of the bills lost her job. We are both morbidly obese, and we have a lot of not so good things around the house, but normally we eat those rarely. As a general rule we eat healthfully, but I believe our obesity stems from…
  • Yep, 2 so far....but then again, I knew them BEFORE MFP as well...LOL
  • Where are you that you don't? I'm in Canada and my weight (also not even close to accurate) is on it. In one of my former jobs I used to see driver's licences from all over the world. I don't recall one that didn't have height and weight on them.
  • I've been having a lot of pain in one knee due to the pressure of water retention on an arthritic joint. I've also been training C25K which is putting unusual stress on the joint, and of course the activity, since I'm fairly new to it, causes me to retain even more water. Yesterday was supposed to be my training day but…
  • Yes.....yes it does.....the $100 bills do anyway....Used to get cravings for maple glazed donuts counting cash...ughh...LOL....
  • I know wellbutrin is not an SSRI, but this is my experience with the SSRI medication. This has made me realize that I will now say NO to ALL drugs, even prescribed ones as often as I can. There are almost always other, more healthful ways to go: I have been on similar medications for years. In 2002 I was on Effexor, which…
  • I'm doing this along with C25K. Training for a 5km race!
  • My hip joints get very tight....at this point I couldn't do a squat if I tried...I'd roll over on my back like a big old turtle. I'd find a lot of hip exercises as well as strength training for quads, and glutes in particular. Back and core strengthening will help too.
  • One thing you identified that really struck me was your feelings of depression. As you've already experienced eating disorders, do you have a counsellor of some type to help you through your emotions while you do this? I found this to be very important as mental health is just as important as physical health, and as I have…
  • "New" can be scary. Sometimes it's easier to stay in our old habits rather than change. Isn't that really why we're all here anyway? Try to make a conscious effort to accept the good work you've done in recreating your lifestyle.
  • I planned to start monday myself. I'm in
  • Try a bunch of different activities and discover new ones to love. I was invited to take a boxing class by the owner of a gym who trained a friend of mine in boxing. It was free, and I was looking for something for stress relief and lo and behold, I LOVED IT! So now I'm taking a boxing class once a week. I love swimming so…
  • Yes, seriously...he still does yoga classes....hehehe....I have to hug that man...I adore him
  • Sodium tracking is, I feel, very important. I don't have any issues like high blood pressure or anything, but I am VERY sensitive to sodium. I can literally gain 20 or more pounds overnight due to water retention because of sodium. I had pretty much cut my sodium intake to very low amounts, except that I hadn't accounted…
  • Hahaha...at my gym, the equipment has tvs...LOL
  • I am excited hockey is back....but I won't go to the opening game this weekend...Edmonton is in Vancouver, and even if it wasn't, they charge ridiculously high for tickets here....really wishing I lived in Florida. I could just about fly down there, take a hotel room AND pay for tickets for the same price as an Oilers…
  • Yep.....gonna go to California with my best bud(s) and take a yoga course from Bob Harper
  • I've been on here for a few months and I'd start and then something would happen and I'd fall off the wagon....but the other day, I had a conversation with my friend on the phone( nothing said in particular, just a conversation), but after that, I inexplicably felt highly motivated to ramp things up. I'd been in the…
  • Had a crack ho attack me, and when I told her to get the hell away from me, was reprimanded by the manager to watch my language....the crack ho suffered no reprimands. Next time if the ho gets into my bubble like she did last week, I'll just punch her....and the manager.
  • I used to be the same way. I never ate at all during the day. My first and only meal was dinner time, usually around 6 or 7 pm. I started work at 7 am at that time. I started by slowy increasing my intake. So for breakfast, even though I wasn't hungry, I'd start with an egg. then 3-4 hours later a few crackers, then for…
  • I tried using Lean Cuisine and even though my calories weren't that bad, I actually gained a LOT of weight due to water retention. You would be better off picking one day a week or month and do a whole load of cooking and freeze it yourself. I have been doing well with this method. When I started, I was working 2 jobs and…
  • I agree with you here...I see major fluctuations depending on time of day, month and what I've eaten. Excessive weight gain/loss is nearly always consistent with my sensitivity to sodium. My current diet precludes as much as I can (ie, no added), and that problem is mostly under control. It takes work to lose fat…
