I weigh myself multiple times throughout the day. I usually do it when I wake up (before using the bathroom), after using the bathroom, mid-day, in the evening before dinner, after dinner, after exercise, and right before bed. I like to get an idea of how my weight fluctuates over the course of a day, and how my various…

I have a "cheat day" once a week where I eat all of my maintenance calories. I do this to keep my metabolism from slowing down due to the 1000 calorie/day deficit I have on the other days. I've noticed that I seem to lose 1 - 2 lbs the day after I do this, almost like it resets my body in preparation for the next week of…

I like Jillian, but this is bogus. The fruits you listed contain calories (nearly 100 for a large-sized apple!), so eating "unlimited" quantities of them is certainly increasing your caloric consumption for the day.

This makes sense. If your body naturally burns 100 calories in an hour (BMR), but you workout and your HRM says "300 Calories", then it seems appropriate to subtract the 100 calories you would have burned anyways, which yields 200 "net" exercise calories. Thanks for sharing!

Hey, I started Insanity on Monday with the Fitness Test. Here are my results: Switch Kicks 29 Power Jacks 22 Power Knees 44 Power Jumps 17 Globe Jumps 7 Suicide Jumps 8 Push-Up Jacks 10 Low Plank Oblique 5 This is without a doubt the hardest workout I've done since playing football in high school. I can't even make it…

C25K is excellent! I started it about a month ago. I do it at the gym on the treadmill. I do 3.5 mph walking speed and 5.0 mph jogging speed, all at a 1.0 incline. I'm almost finished with my second week of "week 2" (90 seconds jogging / 2 min walking) and just about ready to begin "week 3." My goal is to be able to run a…

Week 1 Day 6 (!!!) completed today. I'm doing the program at "half speed" so today marks my completion of Week 1 =) When I started last week I couldn't do the 60/90 for the entire 20 minutes. I could do the first 3 or 4 60-second jogs but then I had to walk the rest. Now I can do the 60/90 alternating for the full 20 and…

I started this last week. I'm actually going to do each week as two weeks, so it's going to end up taking me 18 weeks instead of 9. Personally I find the pace from week to week a bit too fast and I'm more comfortable slowing it up a bit. I am / will be doing it on a treadmill at the gym. 1.0 incline, 3.5-3.7 mph walking…

I eat mine, but that's because I have my goal set to lose 2lbs per week. If I had it set to lose 1lb per week (but wanted to lose 2) I would not eat them. When I add the calories into MFP I subtract around 30% from what the machines tell me I've burned to give myself a buffer in the (extremely) likely chance that the…

I only have 30 minutes left in my fast! I'm actually not feeling terribly hungry, but I am definitely ready to eat. My workout went well, did 15 minutes on the cross-trainer, 30 on the treadmill (day two of couch 2 5k down =)) and lower-body resistance. I think this is definitely doable once or twice a week.

Like many people I've always heard that fasting is bad for your metabolism and is counter-productive to losing weight. However, the discussions on MFP about Eat-Stop-Eat pushed me to take another look. I found that the information in the Eat-Stop-Eat book made sense intuitively, and his ideas appear to be backed up by…
