My mom was adopted and passed away almost 6 years ago. She had many types of cancer in her life and after I had a baby I wanted to know if she was pre-disposed to any illnesses. I was hoping to find my mom's family and learn more about their health and history since I'd had two coworkers who were adopted find their…

Celiac, IBS, Crohns, diverticulitis and more. I just have a very chipper colon I suppose!

I poo about every 90 minutes while awake, and have to wake up once at night to go again so I never get a full nights sleep. So far my docs haven’t found anything abnormal so I guess it’s “normal”!

Thanks all! I had done a search but couldn't find anything about adding to mashed potatoes but I think i'll give it a try. I figure it's better than nothing! My protein powder is a plant based one and it doesn't seem to have any significant after tastes so hopefully this goes well! I might try adding to a soup tonight just…

Peanut Sauce is a favorite in our house, too! Just made it last night!

Lupus, Fibro, Behcets, Hashimotos, TN.....just to name a few :) Welcome! Our journey definitely has more struggles, but it's not impossible!

B12 can definitely give you more energy if you are deficient in it to start with. More energy means you have more umph to get you through the day. More energy can lead to better food choices (you're not so tired that you're just grabbing convenience foods) and more effort to be put towards moving more/burning more…

Uhhhh....yeah, he knows my weight...or a general idea I suppose the last time the number came up. We support each other. However, we don't subscribe to the social beliefs that your weight determines your value. We don't stigmatize a number, so it's never been something that we've had to associate shame or pride in.

Ours is combined with our Gas bill. 1700 square foot townhouse. Winter it can get up to about $150 (we are in Wisconsin, so it's freezing cold during the winter and we use a lot of heat) and every other season it averages about $60/month.

Nope. You cannot prove a medical condition is due to weight all of the time. Likewise, not all obese people have additional health problems. You can also have weight gain due to a pre-existing medical condition. Then there are those that are medically obese, but BMI is a poor calculating factor for them. This is healthcare…

wow....that's really low. Are you sure you're counting correctly or have your daily intake correct?

Totally depends on your body. I lost 50 pounds and the only difference in mine was the band size. I've been pregnant, nursed, I've gained, I've lost, and they haven't ever changed. But...some people's do...it's really not a question that can be answered until you see for yourself.

Why did you put your calorie goal so low? Get a measure on your TDEE to see where your calories should be at (a better estimate at least). It's also hard to answer these questions when everything is so general. We don't know what a "Healthy" dinner is. I mean...I can make a salad full of "healthy" ingredients but it can be…

Lupus (SLE), Behcets Disease, EDS, Hashimotos and Fibromyalgia here, and currently being evaluated for TN. It definitely doesn't make things easy...but it's not impossible.

Good luck to you both and congrats!

It's great you want advice from this community, but you shouldn't listen to ANY sort of community advice when it comes to health and pregnancy. All of that should come from the medical professionals.

Guess it's a good thing I always have someone else kill them for me...

When my RA or Lupus is flaring badly enough for it to effect my hands, I use straps so that there's less pressure on my grip. Everyone is different, but even in the worst flare-ups, I won't give up my lifting as it's completely changed the effect my autoimmune diseases has on me.…

I could listen to the Sonia Swaby rendition of As Long as He Needs Me over and over and over and over....

Resenting your other half for their eating habits, which have nothing to do with yours, says more about you than him. I'm vegan, my husband is not. If I resented his food choices, which, lets face it, don't effect me at all, then we probably wouldn't be married. You don't have to share a lifestyle to share a life. Forcing…

I've been seeing the cropped flare trend in my magazines....and it kind of makes my heart hurt to look at!

Did someone say Fashionista? I have part of my paycheck automatically sent to a "shopping account"....not that I have a problem or anything, lol!

I eat between 200-225g protein a day. No chicken though, just plant-based protein. Not sure of your size, so hard to answer if the amount of protein you're aiming for is quite a bit or not. But sounds correct on average (at least for someone my size).

I'm a member of a gym near my home, but they have a smaller "express" gym near my office. I pay an extra fee per month to have access to their express gyms, and I use it often on my lunch break. It sounds similar to the one you're describing - doesn't have everything my main gym has, but for a lunch lift, it's perfect.…

I would suggest moving from your Almond Milk to a pea-based milk like Ripple. Soy-free, and has a lot more protein per serving than Almond milk is going to have. You can find it at most Target or Whole Foods, as well as other retailers. Did you set your own macro goals? Or are you going off of the goals that MFP spit out…

Musical Theatre major here! My favorite is quite unpopular, but the music in BKLYN: The Musical, is just incredible! Also love Next to Normal

I think if a patient is being seen for an issue that can be directly attributed to their weight, then counsel. Bloodwork came back and it's all out of whack? Counsel and set a goal with the patient for their next draw. Required physical for health insurance? It's a reasonable discussion to have. If someone is coming in…

I'm going to second the Freya recommendation!

I did. I admit it. I fell for this probably about 10-ish years ago. It was brutally painful, a bit mortifying (it's not your finest moment when you're lying on your side on a table, while a cute young girl is flushing your *kitten* with saline while it fills a bucket next to you of your stinky renmnats). I ended up having…
