Nowhere near done, but I noticed the other day that I can climb 3 flights of stairs at the office and not have to go hide until I catch my breath for fear someone might try to talk to me.

Resize them on imgur or where ever you are hosting them, then post. I think.

Hmmm, interesting stuff. One thing that you're not considering is that (according to your profile), you have 36 pounds to lose, while I have 65 (and that only gets me to 190, so realistically it's probably 85 more). I think there's a significant extra 'fat guy' burn I get right now just from moving at all. Just to play…

Thanks for the update!

Hey, thanks for your response. I have my MFP settings set to sedentary and with a goal of 1lb per week, which gives me a calorie goal of 2030 before adjustments. Are you set to sedentary in MFP? If not, there's going to a baseline of activity before you start getting adjustments, whereas I get adjustments almost right…

Yes, this. My wife and I have a 10 month old (plus 3 more), and she has just started exercising in the last 3 months. We got some home equipment, as there's no way going to the gym would ever happen. She tries to fit her workout in during the day most often. Sometimes it happens in the evening. Sometimes it doesn't happen…

This. I went through a 3 week stall in March, then things resumed normally. Be patient, keep doing what you're doing.

Little update here. Progress continues. Making it a math problem is still working for me. Been through 4 x 4 week spans now. Here are the total numbers. Weeks 1-4 Eaten: 59255 Burned: 94930 Expected Loss: 10.19 Actual Loss: 5 Weeks 5-8 Eaten: 68401 Burned: 95106 Expected Loss: 7.63 Actual Loss: 4.1 Weeks 9-12 (nearly 3…

Another tool I use is trendweight.com, it let's me ignore the fluctuations and focus on the trends. I recently went through a 3 week stall where I gained and lost the same 2 pounds over and over again. I knew I was doing things right, however, so I was able to stay on track. Good job powering through!

Right, it's a bit of a moving target. It depends what you've set your activity level to in MFP as well. If you set it to sedentary, then pretty much all movement will increase your calories remaining, if you set it to lightly active or higher, you'll have to do some baseline amount of activity before you start to "earn"…

The device does not pull from the website though. It's just showing you your total burn for the day, not any kind of 'net calories remaining' number or anything.

Walking is such a good way to start. If you have A/C in your home, then you could consider a treadmill. If you don't already have a fitbit or similar, I found them a great way to motivate myself to move a little extra. Steps around the house while folding laundry, cleaning, doing dishes, etc still count and you'd be…

Yeah, same for me. I'm sure it will get fixed soon enough based on what I'm reading.

The calories shown on your fitbit are what it estimates your total calorie burn for the day is, what do you think it's showing you? So your question would seem to be self-answering. It's just an estimate though, so your question seemed overly specific and lacking an understanding of how the trackers work. I wouldn't worry…

Happening to me this morning as well. Only on computer, not on app. Tried multiple browsers, same issue.
-
Ummm, is this question for real?

It's weird how that same guy keeps walking by.... Also, amazing work. Love your story, have seen you around the forums before and always amazed you're in your 50's, you could pass for 30's easily.

Great job man!

As a fellow data nerd, all I can say is awesome awesome awesome. Your story lets me know I'm on the right track, thank you.

Originally it was to be able to do a full pullup, but I tried the other day and I can almost already do one, so I think I'm going to hit that goal well before I get to a weight I'm satisfied with. So, I think I will be adjusting it to 10 consecutive pullups. That will take a while. :)

Thanks, appreciate it. I was just curious, you hear all this nonsense that you will lose muscle if you stop working out and stuff like that. It didn't really ring true to me. The aging stuff makes sense as well.

These sound like two different answers. Anyone else care to jump in?

Least favourite thing is how slow it is to do it the right way.

Great thread. My wife and I have been doing SL 5x5 since January. We got a power cage at home and some cheap weights & bar from Canadian Tire. We both started with just the 15 pound bar and worked up from there. I got up to Squats 5x5 at 175pounds before I tweaked my back and deloaded by half after a week off to rest. I am…

Remarkable. Well done.

Slow and steady is a-ok! Same way I'm attacking it. Keep up the good work!

Started using a new belt this week, ran out of notches on the other one.

I'd say yes, standing definitely burns more calories than sitting. How many more, I'm not really sure. How long have you been at your current weight? If you've been there awhile and eating consistently at 1700-800 without moving up or down, then I would say you've found your maintenance based on your lifestyle. If it's a…

So true. Love this response.

Incorrect. See above.
