I was wondering when I would get IT advice. I'm actually an IT guy, so I'm well aware of how to tell if something is a problem with my computer or with a website. Secondly, I'm getting the same behaviour both from corporate computers at multiple locations as well as my own home computer, all of which are protected by…

Weird. The site is completely unusable for me, tried from multiple computers.

What if I want an un-toned 6 pack? Perhaps we could get a sticky on the topic...
-
Absolutely, I just like to play with them.

Of course I find it two seconds after I post this thread. http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/CalRequire.html Anyway, take it for what it's worth, but make sure you have good virus protection installed if you're going to the IIFYM.com calculator.

She eats the exercise calories back sometimes. I'd say she probably eats them back about half the time. Our baby is 8 months old, so the milk supply is pretty well established. She's also been doing exercise about 6 days a week (lifting SL 5x5 3 days and Jazzercise 3 other days).
-
My wife is seeing pretty consistent losses by using the method I described above, FWIW. How old is your baby? Until your milk supply is well established I wouldn't push too hard on creating a calorie deficit or you risk impacting your supply.

Google TDEE calculators and work from them instead. This accounts for the fact that you don't just lay in bed all day. Then, follow the advice above. Everything you find online will be just estimates, which can get you started, but you won't know how accurate they are until you start tracking your food accurately and…

My wife is in a similar boat. She set her MFP settings to simply maintain, but does not account for any 'extra' calories burned from breastfeeding. This means that those 'extra' calories end up being her deficit for weight loss. Depends how old your baby is and how well established the milk supply is, but this seems to be…

Also not sure why this post would be in success stories.

If you are using a fitbit and have it linked to MFP, you shouldn't be logging exercises in your MFP exercise log at all. Log them in fitbit portal. As far as running, fitbit is counting your steps, so I personally don't think there's any reason to add running as a specific exercise in the fitbit portal.

The link in the original isn't working. Here it is for those interested. Very nice work sir.

I'm nowhere near done, but here's one I've noticed the last few days. I have one of those retractable things that's supposed to clip on your belt with your company building access card. Until recently I always had to carry it in my pocket because there was too much belly hanging over the belt to comfortably clip the thing…

This might be the greatest thing I've ever read.

Mine says 100kg, so about 35 pounds to lose until it matches. I've been lying to them for years.

I'm early on in trying to do both and so far it's been fine, but I do mean really early on. I do 5x5 Sunday Tues Thursday and run on the treadmill Monday Wednesday Saturday, usually taking Friday off. We'll see how it goes as I progress up the weights, I'm still below all the weights you started at as I started with just…

Bump so more people see this excellent post.

40 lashes anytime you overeat. Also make yourself administer them, so that way you're working on your flexibility at the same time. Win-win.

Personally, I'd just shoot for improvement each time, so next time see if you can do it in 1:18.

Convenience was the deciding factor for us in making the decision to purchase equipment for home workouts.

Strength is sexy. Ignore the idiot.

I think if you are working in a big retail store and on your feet all day you would have no problem hitting 10k steps in that amount of time. I work in IT, mostly sedentary, but I have one client that has this loooong office with offices all the way along and when I spend a day there my step count is always crazy high…

I'm down about 15 pounds so far and I can't actually see changes in the mirror yet, but I have had to tighten my belt by one notch, so I know its happening. I am planning on taking progress photos again at the end of February, so I'm hopeful that I'll be able to see a change from the early January ones I took.

The 'extra calories earned' from Fitbit to MFP is a bit of an interesting thing. It seems to basically assume you are going to keep moving at the same pace that you have been moving. So, for example, if you get up and do some early morning exercise (either step type exercise which the fitbit tracks pretty accurately, or…

Yes, this is much better. $139 at Flaman Fitness in Calgary.

If you have a fitbit linked you should log your exercise in the fitbit app or portal, not on mfp, or it will get counted twice.

It's 100% an ego thing, I admit this. Thanks for the link, will run the numbers when I get to my 5x5 max. I don't want to mess with my progress for now, and what you say about the form makes sense.
-
I'm in a similar situation, enjoying the 5x5 progression. I haven't hit failure yet, 6 weeks in (getting pretty close to failure on the g-d OH press), so it's very satisfying to lift more weight each time. My wife too, she squatted 100 pounds the other day and was so proud of herself!
