Meringue cookies with birch zylitol, lime juice and vanilla from The Fast metabolism Diet cookbook. Or 2 squares of dark chocolate from a bar that is 85% cacao. They both feel decadent for very few calories. I also make frappes using Pero coffee substitute, almond milk, cocoa powder and stevia.

So I finished the 28 days and followed the plan strictly. I'm down 12 pounds, which is pretty good weight loss IMO. I've lost 2.5 inches from my waist and 1.5 from my hips and bust. People have noticed my weight loss too, which is always a nice bonus. Not once during those 28 days did I have any kind of stomach issue, not…

Hi Allison! I'm on week 1 of the FMD (phase 3, day 6). So far it's been great. I feel really good about the quality of food I'm putting into my body, I'm never hungry, and the food combinations are filling yet the meals and snacks are all less than 400 calories each, so I'm staying within my caloric goals too. I've been an…

Great XanthePersephone! I'm heading to the gym today and excited to do day 2!

Thanks Moyer556.... I looked to see if a discussion had been started already but didn't see that group. Welcome pplf2001! I totally understand knee issues. I'm going to also strength train my legs which should help. I'm hopeful that the gradual progression of the walk/run program will also help. I did day one yesterday,…

Great, Audrey! I will be jogging on a treadmill, now that there is snow and ice on the ground, and doing stationary cycling in between the running days, to prepare for the Tour de Cure in early June. I downloaded an app to keep track of my progress with the C2K program. If we start now, we should be in good shape by…

Truth! For years I would wake up early and exercise before work, because if I didn't do it in the morning it would never get done. I would lay out my workout clothes the night before, set the alarm, and when the alarm went off in the morning I would get out of bed and get to it before my brain had a chance to wake up and…

Nah, you're not boring. When I'm not drinking alcohol I drink only water too - and I'm not boring! LOL. I have started adding the flavored waters to curb the cocktail craving lately, but I generally prefer plain water on the rocks.

Oh, you poor thing....watching that precious gin trickle away :( I know what you mean about having that well-deserved drink or three as a reward at the end of the day - no body works harder and deserves more of a reward than a mom! Ah well I guess it was a sign. Welcome aboard!

I bought a box of Detox Tea over the weekend. For the last few days when I want a drink I make a cup of this instead.

Thanks for sharing! My family loves pasta so I'm always looking for healthier alternatives. Last night I made veggie stuffed shells: 1 box jumbo pasta shells 2 big heads of broccoli 2 large carrots 1 can of mushroom pieces & stems 2 cloves garlic minced 2 TBS olive oil 16 oz part skim mozzarella 1/4 cup grated parmagiana…

Great idea! I have done this with mangos and papayas when they were "in season" (which in New England means when they were imported at their lowest prices!) I will do this with what's left of my apple picking excursion.

I Love, love, LOVE my crockpot!. My go-to standby is lean brisket with a large chopped onion, salt, pepper, 1-2 TBS kitchen bouquet (it's in the isle with gravy starters and bullion) and 1/4 cup water. It is so easy and it is my husband's favorite! Another variation is to use aged balsamic vinegar and a splash of red wine…

I did great for 10 days, then fell off the wagon in a big way on day 11. The 3 pounds I lost...BAM! They came back. Grrrr....

I recently saw The Barefoot Contessa make a Spanish Pea Soup. It uses frozen peas, garlic, shallots, low sodium chicken broth, olive oil and a slice of oven crispy prosciutto. I amnot really a fan of split pea soup but this was really good and tasted nothing like it! Quick, easy and only 232 calories for a huge bowlful!…

Wow, I'm feeling a lot better about myself after reading the rest of these posts and realizing that I am not alone! That I'm not the only one who's occasional drink led to a nightly drink, which led to a few drinks each night, which I felt I deserved after all my hard work during the day, and didn't think it mattered…

Day 8 for me! I have been helped along by a friendly rhinovirus, but hey, whatever it takes! Uh oh - does Nyquil count???

I have a similar trick - I stock up on flavored sparkling water and will put that over ice in a glass I normally drink my cocktails in, and decorate it with a slice of lemon or lime, add a straw and viola! I have fooled my brain! Well ok, not really, but it actually did help me to cut out the alcohol when I was trying to…

Thanks for the invite Dragonfly, and thank you to everyone who shared their stories. I have a little bit in common with each one of you, with the exception of Ben and Sarah - I am very sorry for the losses you suffered at the hands of someone who couldn't control their alcohol. I have been drinking alcohol "in moderation"…
-
I'm in! I really need to cut down, and this is a good time of year to do it - after the summer (when most drinking occurs) and before the holidays. I blame alcohol for getting me off track my goals and causing me to regain 20 of the 30 pounds I originally lost with MFP 2 years ago, and also for changing my body composition…

Bump...I'm loving the "egg muffin" recipes!!!

I am also starting over, in fact I just posted a similar message mere seconds ago! :) I am determined to re-lost those 16 pounds I gained back, but more importantly, I want to lose the inches. I just reviewed my measurement history and it's pretty damn depressing to see how many of those inches came back. Good luck to…

I use it frequently as a dip for my celery & carrot sticks. Sometimes for breakfast I'll toast a light fiber one english muffin (100 cals) and top it with hummus and fresh tomato. I tried many flavors and prefer plain hummus, although I did just get a tub of jalapeno hummus and I think it is my new favorite!

Actually, working out at higher intensities burns more fat. You see, when you work out at lower intensities, you burn fewer calories but the percentage of those calories burned comes primarily from fat. When you work out at higher intensities, your burn more calories overall, and a large percentage of those calories comes…

I always save my "leftover" coffee in a pitcher in the fridge for iced coffee. This version sounded soooo amazing....until I looked up the calorie count for FF sweetened condensed milk! At 110 cal per 2 TBS serving, I think I will stick to my lowfat milk, or sugar free french vanilla creamer :(

I did my 2nd day of the 30DS today, and I thought I was in good shape but man oh man I am sore today!! So I think it really is a great workout, but I plan on supplementing it with cycling and hiking when I can to avoid doing the same thing every day.

Canned Tuna does have dangerous levels of mercury in it and should be eaten in moderation, especially by women and REALLY especially if you are pregnant or nursing. See the link below for more info: http://www.nrdc.org/health/effects/mercury/tuna.asp

Yoga is a great workout, but it doesn't burn calories the way cardio training will. However, it is a great cross-training exercise to keep yourself flexible, limber and toned, and will ultimately make you feel and look better. So don't worry so much about how many calories you burned ...you did a great healthy thing for…

Sounds delish, I can't wait to try it!
