Congrats Dixon. I haven't looked up what I need to do to be a PT, mostly because I'm not that good at that type of sales job. But it does interest me, because a lot of people have asked me about my weight loss, and told me that I have inspired them. Good Luck.
a A note about the abbreviations: PT usually…

You don't??? But how do you stop yourself?? LOL! Seriously, I have a BAD willpower problem (hence, why I joined MFP) and I am trying so hard to only eat half of my dinner when I eat out. Most of the time I end up saying "screw it, I'll just hit the gym hard tomorrow" and then spend like 3 rediculous hours in the gym the…

Sue, welcome to MFP! It takes amazing strength to make the recent choices you have made to get clean and become healthy and I am very proud of you for that. With weight loss, as with overcoming addiction, you have to remember to just take it one day at a time, and you will get there. There have been some great suggestions…

Yes, you need to see a physical therapist to determine what exercises are safe for you to do! And more importantly, HOW to do them correctly. (IMO, and I am a PT :) )

What a great compliment! Congrats!!

oooooh, and this isn't really a "restaurant" but I have to say that I am in love with McDonald's Southwest Grilled chicken Salad!!! 420 yummy calories with dressing!!

Every now and then I don't have much of an appetite either, and will struggle to eat my daily calories, especially on a day when I've exercised a lot, such as a full day of snowboarding, when by the end of a day I can't possibly eat 1100 more calories! Well, I could....but they would be crappy calories such as beer and…

Having worked in the restaurant business when I was younger, I would be inclined to believe your friends. I recently heard a news story that said you can basically add 20% more calories to whatever the posted nutritional data is. Truth is, there really is no guarantee when you're eating out, you just have to make the most…

I completely understand! In December I got together for a mini family reunion, and I wore an outfit that I thought made me look really good. Then I saw the pictures....and I was horrified! That weekend I found the MFP app for my ipod touch and have been counting every calorie ever since. 15 pounds down so far! You can do…

How low is low? I recently had the asiago sirlon meal from Applebee's "Under 550 Calorie" menu. Steamed veggies & redskin potatoes and tender sirloin. It was really good!

you may also want to add a Vitamin D supplement as well as an additional iron supplement. However, you really should first consult your PCP and have some bloodwork done to see what is going on.

I agree! As a physical therapist I get asked this question frequently and I prefer to address the above issues first. There really isn't any true research that supports the claim that it alleviates joint pain, the results are all anectodal and the supplement seems to help about 50% of the people who take it. It does take a…

The ball should be big enough so that when you are sitting on it, your hips and knees will both be at a 90 degree angle. For your height, I recommend a ball no smaller than 65 centimeters (the balls usually are sold in metric sizes.) 75 cm might be better, make sure the store will let you return it if you get it home,…

Thanks for the tips! I will try both of them and see how it goes.

Ladies, I'm sure that means that you both looked great to begin with and the only ones who noticed that you even needed to lose weight in the first place was YOU. Being so tall, you can carry the extra weight better than someone shorter than you without looking overweight. Keep up the great work!:flowerforyou:

OK, I got my first ENELL in the mail yesterday and wore it for a high-impact class with lots of plyometrics. The girls did not bounce once! I have to admit it was a little uncomfortable when I first put it on, especially when I added the chest strap from my HRM. In fact it is so tight that I cannot afford to gain back any…

The Polar F6 has an option called OwnZone, where you can set it up to your specific heart rate during warm up, exercise and cooldown. I haven't set mine up yet, in fact I plan on doing it over the weekend, but I am assuming it will be more accurate than just the standard age/weight/predicted formulas. At any rate, I go…

do a search on the message boards and you will find the thread with the recipe(s). It's amazing - you have to try it!!! Edited - try this link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/55171-diet-soda-cake

Yes, I am happy to say that my husband WAS joking when he said that! sorry if I made him come across as a selfish, shallow person but he does support whatever I do and is truly a wonderful person! Since that day he has made plenty of other comments telling my how good I'm looking....even if he is a teensy bit sad to…

That is my suggestion as well. It doesn't explain the egg thing, unless you are so sensitive, even to the grain that the chickens laying them are fed...but that might be stretching it. You should consult an allergist who can test you for specific food allergies, then see a nutritionist who can guide you towards an…

congratulations to both of you!!!! Keep up the great work - it is inspirational to hear your stories!:flowerforyou:

I have a lot of old skool rap on my ipod (you can take the girl outta Brooklyn...lol) as well as classic Michael Jackson, Chaka Kahn, & ACDC. More current favorites are Lady Gaga, Pitbull and Third Eye blind. Gets me pumped up and my legs flying at 6:00am!! Then I cool down and stretch with mellower stuff by The Sundays,…

Same here! Plus I add a secret ingredient that the boxes never tell you about: nutmeg! Just a dash adds that little bit of sweetness you are looking for. Trust me - I'm Italian!

Welcome! I also found this through the ipod app in December, and am hooked to the website as well! Same goal - it started out as a 20 pound-loss goal, but after seeing how easy it was to shed the first 15 I changed it to a 25 pound-loss goal. Problem is my body seems to now enjoy this weight, so the last 10 are being very…

Make that 100%, after all I am still alive and enjoyed a full day of snowboarding after reaching a "HR"of 226! :glasses:

Yeah, it's done that too. Glad I'm not the only one having these issues!
-
Thanks all! I have noticed a couple of times over the last 2 days where there does seem to be a short lapse in communication. I do have the occasional PVC, so maybe that threw it off.

THANKS Geicko!!! I downloaded the software and couldn't find detailed instructions on how to transfer...I kept holding my watch up to the microphone and nothing was happening! LOL. I will try it later and see what happens. Edited 30 minutes later to say...It worked! Thanks again for the help!

As a physical therapist, I can't tell you how many times I get patients who tell me that they can't exercise, all their health problems are caused by this, that and the other excuse, when the simple truth is as you stated: Choices. I see 90 year old ladies that still go to the gym every day and have amazing strength &…

For some strange reason I find a glass of flavored carbonated water (like Clear Choice) makes me feel very full. I use them to crave my cocktail cravings too ;)
