  • Disk. In the pit, or seated at a concert?
  • The handlebars on our bikes are not smooth, and when my hands start to sweat I get blisters on my hands which quickly ruin a good ride. The gloves make my hands sweat more, but they keep me from getting the blisters.
  • I love making moussaka. http://fightthefatfoodie.blogspot.com/2010/03/lightened-moussaka.html

  • What a great way to take on the challenge of the weekend. Skinny Saturday it is.
  • Nice summary of your experiences - especially with making a diet plan work for you with travel! When I skimmed this book once at a bookstore, I ended up putting it back because I doubted I could eat 1600 calories per day and be successful with weight loss. But maybe with a few modifications..... Thanks for your thread/blog.
  • Sorry, should be bicycling, stationary, vigorous effort
  • Try biking, stationary, vigorous effort
  • Thanks, Jill. I couldn't access it at first, but by doing the free membership I was able to.
  • Jen, your link is mistyped, but I found it anyway. Your website is interesting BUT lacks the nutritional label and ingredients for the shake. I have a smoothie every morning, so am always looking for ways to change it up, add ingredients. If I were at the store looking at a potential shake supplement, I would read the…
  • I was 20 lbs from my goal in August. Slowly lost 10 more from August until the end of December - 4 months. Really different from my first 40 lbs which I lost in 8 months. So, now I have my last 10 to go - the scale's been pretty much the same for the past month. From what I have read, this will be the hardest, especially…
  • Sorry for the double post - my bad.
  • Do you think you could do the same with a brownie mix? Another thing I do with canned pumpkin is mix it about 1/2 and 1/2 with plain yogurt, then add a T of raisins for some sweetness and some pumpkin pie seasoning.

  • The solution is Joseph's Oat Bran and Whole Wheat tortillas. They are soft and enfold your filling without breaking, and if you want to eat them all by themself they taste good. 70 calories, 2 grams of fat, 11 grams of carbs, 7 g fiber, and 7 g. protein. They don't taste like cardboard. They don't get moldy quickly in the…
  • Breastfeed! Burns an extra 800 calories a day.
  • I made this yesterday - found it fall off the bone tender in about 8 hours on low. I really enjoyed the flavor, and the garlic aroma in the house, but find that I'm not too fond of the consistency of crock-pot cooked chicken - the texture is just different. I plan to make it again but will do a long slow roast in the oven…
  • While I think it's okay to run 5-6 days a week, alternating long and short like you plan, what you are doing now is also fine, and with the crosstraining you would be less likely to become injured. It depends on what your goal is. If you want to train for a distance race like a marathon, you have to run. But you take the…
  • Skin on or skin off on the chicken? The 40 cloves of garlic is smelling good even in my imagination! Thanks for posting this. Kathy
  • Brady, Here's what I use for supplements, and why I use them: Calcium. Especially for those of us over 50, this is important. We should be getting 1200 mg daily, and what we don't get in dairy products should be taken in a high quality supplement of calcium malate or calcium citrate. Unfortunately, Calcium supplements can…
  • I have my regular Tues appt with the trainer today. She helps keep me in line with exercise.....and asks for my exercise journal to see what I've done in the past week. Accountability.....it works. I see my trainer on Tuesday's too. I've never thought to bring her a exercise journal. Great idea! Kathy
  • These sound great. I'll try them for sure. How many tortillas are in the Mission corn tortilla pack, and how large are they? Kathy
  • The lower resting heart rate is really cool - what a great way to track your accomplishment
  • Susan, Firetuck, I'm not liking your comments about losing weight when you were 50 (which is what I've just done) and then regaining! Oh I've worked to hard to think about this..... Kathy
  • Oh, Exermom, the challenges of living in the South! I was there for many years. You almost have to give up eating out. And exercising in the heat of the summer - I had to get up and do it before sunrise. Now that I live in Minnesota, different challenges of weather. My main exercise challenge now is my feet, the soles of…
  • Nice thread - pages and pages of posts were too many to browse through to get a feel for all of us, but hopefully will get a chance to do that day by day. I'm down 50 lbs from this time last year, but up just a pound over the Christmas/New Year's week so overall feeling positive. Special challenges when we're 50+, hot…
  • I rub a small roast with an envelope of dry ranch dressing and an envelope of dry italian dressing, top it with onions and carrots and crock-pot all day. It is fork tender, and a small roast will feed my partner and I for dinner and lunch the next day
