  • I really agree with the people suggesting you try strength training instead of just cardio. Go look through the success stories section for before/after pictures of ladies who lift - it might be exactly what you're looking for. Here's a good one to check out!…
  • Diets that are "high" in protein are excellent for weight loss. The protein (along with strength training) helps to ensure that you lose fat, not LBM. Macros are the three macronutrients- Carbs, Protein, Fat. When someone talks about "their macros" they generally are referring to the ratio/percentage of them that they eat.
  • Am I the only one seeing how much like Meghan Markle the OP looks? (Also congrats! The difference must be crazy to be able to see how you were and are now!)
  • Do they like soups? There are tons of chilled soups that are great for summer, you can make a batch when you've got some spare time and just keep it in the fridge for when they're hungry! Gazpacho is one of my favorites but there are so many different types! You could also keep some cooked chicken in the fridge to go with…
  • 1. Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat oven to 500 degrees. Toss Brussels sprouts, oil, water, ¾ teaspoon salt, and ¼ teaspoon pepper in large bowl until sprouts are coated. Transfer sprouts to rimmed baking sheet and arrange so cut sides are facing down. 2. Cover sheet tightly with aluminum foil and roast…
  • Beach Boys. Do they count? I hope so. What's your favorite movie?
  • My cart is always such a mishmash because I don't just shop for myself. I just shrug it off. Also, I'll only strike up conversation with other people in line if it's about a product they have that's really good, or looks interesting. There are days where I have three bags worth of fresh produce and like two bags of snack…
  • + (if you want to put in things that might need to be kept chilled a bit) If you leave the jars a bit less packed, you can actually shake them up a bit and it'll distribute everything so you can sortof eat right from the mason jar, makes it a bit more 'on the go' friendly. Also, I heard about this (…
  • I think she was saying not to eat carbs by themselves, not avoid protein alone!
  • One of the wonderful gals on here has been logging since March 2010 and has logged in 1125+ days in a row! Quite an inspiration for sticking with it.
  • Putting my vote in for http://www.amazon.com/Joseph-TriScale-Compact-Folding-Digital/dp/B0091QO57S/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1365994205&sr=1-1&keywords=triscale Don't have one, but I love how they look! And foldable! Totally stashable if you're low on counterspace.
  • This!! (Or just grill any vegetable -- SO GOOD. Grilling/roasting can really make people love vegetables they thought they never would!)
  • Does that really stop them, though? :ohwell: If anything I think it would attract more attention from people who just want to post that type of thing.
  • I've always disliked bacon... I love the smell of it, but I don't typically enjoy eating it. Recently I made a dish with some finely diced pancetta in it, and THAT I loved. Then I just decided to try regular bacon a week or so ago and it was pretty okay, but not craveworthy.

  • Read this as "AKA CRAP" and thought it was a funny. Big congrats on that NSV though! Changes like that are the best. :)
  • This entire thread has made me into a teary puddle. Stories with animals or kids always bring on the waterworks for me, but really any good deed tends to make my eyes water a little.
  • I still wouldn't eat it if I knew it was used by a cat. Just... something about it turns my stomach. HOWEVER: if you make your own caramel candies (something soft, a quick google showed - http://www.joyofbaking.com/candy/Caramels.html ) and then.. just poor little bits into the 'litter' material, it'll totally look cool.…
  • Nononono neeeever use an old litter box. Aghh. Knowing someone did that would be enough to make me not eat it. >.<! The toppings, I'd suggest getting make Nilla wafers or some other cookie (maybe just the graham crumbs?... maybe some combination of both) and crumbling them up and sprinkling on top. Maybe those all white…
  • This post was a brave first step. I agree with the other replies you've gotten. Especially letting your fiancé really understand where you're coming from. Maybe let him read this post? Print it out, leave it for him to read? Something that will help him to understand what is going on inside your brain. I've been on the…
  • I am pretty sure it started in the US...but I don't even know! You have confused my entire life, now. I hope you're happy.
  • Again, though, we don't know what exactly the 'downward spiral' means. It could be a downward spiral of her attitude, her appearance or some combination of both. Maybe she complains how much she hates how she looks, feels depressed and seeks solace in her food. The point is: we don't know all the details. We can't know all…
  • How do we know that this isn't the same situation? That's pretty much the basis of the whole disagreement here. We don't know why he's disappointed in her and is starting to not like her. She has admitted she feels unhappy and uncomfortable with her size. He could just be seeing that. I don't really expect the OP to make…
  • I agree with this, and can relate, but that's why I (and some others) were telling her to ask herself those tough questions instead of just giving up. If she made the changes for herself, and she truly feels lazy and unhappy, blaming it all on him is no better than him putting those feelings on her.
  • What do your diets normally look like? Do you cut out all the 'goodies' that you love? Many people believe that if you are cutting those out, entirely, you will not be making a sustainable change in your life. Learn to eat things in moderation - have a small scoop of ice cream every day, if you want. Allow yourself to eat…

  • BMR is your Basal Metabolic Rate - the amount of calories you were to burn if you did nothing but lay in bed all day, not even wiggling your toes. Closely related to BMR is your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) which takes your BMR and adds on all the calories you burn during the day by doing things (wiggling your…
  • Hey now, some of us don't agree with that! Sometimes, though, things can be said in a better way, to make sure true intention is understood. It goes both ways, though! This, I agree with. 100%.
  • The best friends are the ones who can tell you what's wrong with your logic, point out your flaws, show you where you're going wrong, while still telling you that you're awesome and encouraging you towards your goals. Friends who are only negative, or only positive only make things worse.
  • This is sortof a reply to the OP and some other posts I've seen here Were those really about you loving running and developing an obsession with the scales, and it was entirely about you enjoying it/wanting it for you? If so, it's a bit understandable that he may feel like you're disconnected with him. I know that I've…
  • Only time I separate them is when a recipe calls for just one part. (Arghh... meringues/custards.)
  • I can only manage to keep my dog's attention by bringing his favorite ball with me. It has holes, so I just tie it onto his leash and he keeps with me pretty well.
