So, yesterday was day 1, and a running rest day for me, so no miles and no stretching. . . and guess what... I totally forgot about the pushups too. Not starting off to strong over here!

The tip of my thumb - can't let that little bit of Strawberry Cream Cheese go to waste on a napkin bound for the garbage.

I haven't really lost much weight since my first race and my most recent - I've been maintaining in the same +/-5 pound range. 5'11, 32 years, weight between 174-179 (All times are unofficial except my HM) 5KM - 37 min May/2013 186 pounds; 27 min Apr/2014 176 pounds 10KM - 1:10 Feb/2013 188 pounds; 57 min Mar/2014 176…

The following two words used together: Epic Fail *shudder* Also - I find it incredibly annoying/frustrating to cope with when my 7 year old and 5 year old can not say 2 words to each other without trying to one-up each other or bickering. I get it, they are kids, and we are dealing. But, still, this mom finds it annoying.…

I do like the sounds of this . . .but I could already bet that the full amount of pushups might not happen. Based on my training plan for my full which falls in this challenge here is what I should be committing to: 155 miles running (and that is assuming I don't take another stride after the marathon 6/15) 155 minutes…

Since we are sharing. My recent NRV is shaving time off or my 5K running route. At the start of 2014 I ran the loop in 33:14 and I was pretty happy with that. Just the other week I did it in 27:41.

I think this is a great idea; especially because I don't have the means to do as many actual races as I'd like most of my running victories/personal bests are simply from my pace/time/distance etc. recorded on my garmin during training/pleasure runs.

I'm in the final 6 weeks of training for my first full marathon on June 15th. Then I'll be cutting down on the miles a bit and upping the strength training for a 6 KM 17 obstacle mud run on July 26th. I don't have anything planned for the fall yet in terms of organized races etc. But it doesn't mean I won't be running and…

He doesn't look like anyone yet. He's still all pink and squishy. (In reference to my 5 hour old nephew and the picture that we got from my Brother in law this morning)

I do both. When I don't have someone to watch the kids in the evenings so I can run, I'll run on the treadmill. Also, nasty windchills and knee deep snowfall will force me inside too. But, I love it outside way more - probably because I actually have a sense of accomplishment from going from point A to point B etc. that…

Winnipeg Police Services Half Marathon 5/4/14 - 2:07:59 (new PR!!) I came in under my goal of 2:10, and shaved 10 minutes off my first HM time in October 2013. Next year the goal is to come in at 2:00

I found a pyramid hill interval program that I really liked, and you can repeat/adjust as needed. Basically 5 minute warm up on flat/0.5% incline 1 minute at 4% 1 minute at 5% 1 minute at 6% 3 minutes at flat/0.5% 1 minute at 5% 1 minute at 6% 1 minute at 7% 3 minutes at flat/0.5% 1 minute at 6% 1 minute at 7% 1 minute at…

That is a diet I could get on board with!

I know that grit and determination. It's in us all... But I would have laid down in the fetal position and sobbed I think. I mean, a broken FEMUR has got to be unreal pain.

I actually don't drink coffee before my long run, or the morning before either. If I do, there are unnecessary potty breaks needed.

Haven't seen Star Wars. Nope, haven't seen them either.

I'm not sure how anyone can put anything in their bra (besides what is supposed to go in there) and be comfortable. Anyway - my evening runs I don't bring anything with me, as they are short-er, and hubs and the kids are always home so I have not need to bring nay of that stuff. On my long runs, I wear a hydration belt…

Cat calls/Wolf Whistles when I'm out running - yes. Deliberate hitting on - nope.

OMG. Me too - my hubs likes to do it to bother me and I get all shivery and blech. I hate it! I also have a silly phobia about Pigeons. I think it's they way that they move their heads around all jerky and such. I am also afraid of the river in our city; it is murky water and I'm convinced it is full of bodies.

I've put on some Ted Talks on my phone while running. Didn't watch the video but listened intently. It had me thinking about lots of cool things.

When I was upping my mileage, and getting to 7 and 8 mile runs I would start to get very drained. I started to mix in my water bottle 1/2 water and 1/2 Gatorade. That really helped me. I also find that what I eat even 2 days before a long run can really affect how I feel. There are gels/gummies/beans/bars/chews etc. out…

Speaking only from personal experience - and from what others here have chimed in on previous discussions about increasing speed - I can say that the more miles you log, the faster you will naturally become. In January, when I started my marathon training my best unofficial 5K time was about 34 minutes. In January I logged…

5'11 here. 32 year old, mom of 2. I lost 28 pounds in 2013 and am working at keeping it off. I'm going to refocus on losing another 10ish pounds once my marathon training is complete, and I can get back into Stronglifts, but I'm ultimately more interested in losing inches at this point. For what it's worth I'm currently…

My training has me running either first thing in the AM (long runs on Sundays) or in the evenings (all <10miles). When it comes time for my evening runs, I find that there is a bit of a mental battle - my body is tired from the day and wants to relax, and my brain is lazy - so some days I just have to get it done. These…

Way to go. Your time is around what I'm aiming for at my HM this Sunday - what did your splits look like? I can't seem to get the hang of negative splits either, and just tend to try to run steady pace through out. Glad you enjoyed the day!

Losing weight, and changing the habits that had us gain the weight is an ongoing process. You're done when it's lights out. The first step is to change your mentality. Yes you can. Yes you'll have setbacks, but you'll bounce back. Yes some days will be hard, but you'll get stronger. The only person who can make the…

^^I would agree with the possibility of hip flexor. I was in a car accident in December that misaligned my pelvis nicely. It has since been corrected, and is being monitored by my chiropractor and registered massage therapist. My right hip continues to be an issue - always out of line and I find that if I do not spend time…

At work we have a water jug service - so I tend to fill up my bottle from the water cooler. At home I drink either from the tap or through our fridge filter if I want REALLY cold water. My favourite is the way water tastes coming from the garden hose!!!
