  • I have the same issue with the invisible line. I can never tell at the time when I've passed it and I pay. Last time I did it, I was not only in a lot of pain but felt flu-ish too. It really set me back and made me feel frustrated and depressed.
  • I'd say I'm a geek ally. I've always been a very girly kinda girl but my husband, an official geek, has expanded my world to include more scifi/fantasy books, shows and movies. I believe I was predisposed, seeing as I've been a Star Trek fan for ages--- I just needed a push in the right direction.
  • Work was definitely a contributing factor to gaining weight. There are always delicious treats here and it's a stressful environment so sugar is particularly tempting. I don't always avoid the treats but I've been doing better by planning my food for everyday. I have a two high proteins snacks, a big salad for lunch and…
  • I hadn't heard of Focus T25 but I'll look into it. I don't have too much more weight to lose but I'm always looking to get stronger.
  • I love hooping. I do it in short spurts, when I don't have enough time for a proper workout and I need an energy boost. I learned tricks from the Hoopnotica DVDs and YouTube. I'm still not awesome but I have a few tricks down and I can keep the hoop moving for a good stretch.
  • Thank you for the links. There are a lot of not-so-helpful posts to wade through so I appreciate the sensible reading material. I've noticed the denial of starvation mode lately too. My primary issue with under-eating is that it does nothing to help a person learn how to maintain their weight. I have someone in my life who…
  • I'm in VT, near St. Albans. I'm not where I want to be with my weight and fitness level but am steadily getting there.
  • I also love Fiber One brownies. I get Healthy Choice fudge bars at Costco and they're really satisfying and delicious for 100 calories. My husband is super picky and he loves those too.
  • Mine was calculated to be 1240 and it's a struggle for me. I've tried redistributing the calories over the course of the day and refining my diet and those changes are positive but I still go over by 100-200 calories some days.
  • I hear you. I've been feeling very burnt out at work and snacking to get a momentary boost of energy but it's taken its toll on my weight. Time to get on track and find energy in healthier ways. I'm looking for more friends, if anyone wants to add me.
  • My all-time favorite is "Now That We Found Love" by Heavy D and The Boyz. I also love "Raise Your Glass" by Pink and "Club Can't Handle Me" by Flo Rida.
  • I appreciate your response. I get angry at myself when all of this pain follows exercise, feeling like somehow I should know better but your comment reminds me that it's more complicated than that.
  • Maybe when you go to your appointment, you can have them draw blood? I would think four months of struggling mentally and physically can really deplete a person and it might take awhile to get back on track. Blood work could give you an idea of what's happening in your body. Also, along with your food diary, it might be a…
  • That's my feeling too--- I'd rather not drink my calories but still want to enjoy soda sometimes. I also love tea and if not for artificial sweeteners, I'd probably be racking up too many calories from sugar.
  • I do a lot of food prep for my work week on Sundays. I drink protein shakes for breakfast and have found you can blend a huge batch, freeze it in ice cube trays and the night before, fill your to-go mug with the cubes letting it melt it the fridge. Then, you just grab and go. If you like it slushy, then just put the cubes…
  • I completely understand how you're feeling. I'm eating my allotted calories, maxing out the protein and fiber but I'm still so hungry! It's especially hard to deal with at work because there's always candy and baked goods in the kitchen. Right now, I'm drinking a seltzer flavored with Sweet Leaf chocolate stevia and it…
  • It does sound interesting. I signed up for a waiting list. My husband might be into this too. He recently started using the Striiv app with me and competing has been extremely motivating for him.
  • The app or the pedometer? I use the app and I'd love more friends.
  • The challenges are really motivating. I hadn't given too much thought to accuracy because I've mainly used my phone and having tried a few different pedometer apps, found they all come up with different counts. So like you said, I just use the challenges to get me off my tail end a little more.
  • You can definitely use the app alone. My husband and I have for several weeks without any issue. I did order the Play though because the app really drains my phone's battery.
  • Sure! Any friend of Hello Kitty is a friend of mine. I have a serious Hello Kitty habit.
  • I cannot stop watching dancing Obama on a pizza--- it's strangely mesmerizing!
  • Definitely a hot bath with lavender Epsom salts because some days I'm on my feet a lot. It's also a great way to warm up on these cold days in Vermont.
  • I was going suggest using a primer and then some kind of powder to set it because your Mac foundation sounds almost right... maybe it just needs help.
  • Crocs are definitely not trailer trash or hippie--- lots of us in the medical field wear them and I hear chefs like them too. They're cheap, light, comfortable and can be cleaned more easily than other shoes.
  • Thanks, everyone! So many great ideas! I just ordered two Leslie Sansone walking DVDs and am looking forward to trying them.
  • I love Striiv. It's a pedometer but it also gives you small challenges that can be done in short amounts of time. Also, it's a game. The challenges earn you energy, which you convert to coins to buy things for your land. It's a very simple game, no strategy involved but I think it's fun building up the little world. Best…
  • I haven't gotten it yet but am really considering it. I have the iPhone app and really love it but it definitely drains the battery fast so the Striiv Play will be a future purchase.
  • Momma_Grizz, what walking DVDs do you have? I had one years ago that I loved and cannot remember what it was... I would love to find another or other good ones. Somedays, I just don't feel coordinated enough for my fitness DVD collection.
  • Someone else told me they love Zumba for Wii. I haven't even tried a Zumba class but have really wanted to--- I used to be really into aerobics so I think I'd like anything dance-like.
