  • I find a lot of great workouts on YouTube. My favorites are Jessica Smith and Fitness Blender. I used to make playlists for a week ahead of time but lately, I've been doing Fitness Blender programs--- for $10 or less you get a 4 week program that tells you what workouts to do. My husband wasn't one to workout but he got…
  • I use a protein shake for breakfast. I never feel like eating first thing in the morning so I take one to work for when I'm ready. I don't do anything fancy--- just mix and match vanilla whey with frozen fruit, spinach, cocoa, or nut butter.
  • I weighed in this morning and was in my maintenance range. Not sure I could have said the same last week because although I was exercising, I was really indulging in all the treats at work. This week, I've been so sick and haven't been eating much at all. Next week might be another story still because I've been given a…
  • I've been doing well as far as consistently losing weight but I'm determined to refine my food choices. Even though I often stay in my calorie range and get exercise, I could be eating better quality food. I'm really dependent on sugar especially and am not sure how to break the habit. I have some trouble sleeping and a…
  • We're going with the smaller 6. I already have a tablet so if I want a bigger screen, I'll use that. Probably would have stayed with the 5 longer but my husband put his through the wash and even though it still mostly works (amazingly), the display is dim.
  • I use Fitness Blender on YouTube. They're great workouts, there are lots of them to choose from and best of all, they're free. I used to make myself a playlist for the week ahead but recently bought one of their 8 week programs for $5.99.
  • I stopped eating pasta. It used to be staple when I was with my first husband but once single, I rarely cooked it for myself. I also don't eat pretzels... I can't say that I love them but I won't stop eating them if they're around. Like a lot of people, I don't drink cow's milk anymore. I just found that I prefer almond…
  • I also buzzed all of my hair off when it was the desired amount of silver. My dad was fully silver in his thirties and I always thought it was beautiful so when, at 40, I saw all silver in my hair, I cut it all off and never looked back. In my thirties, it became progressively more difficult to color my hair without…
  • I've always logged Leslie Sansone and Jessica Smith walking workouts as low impact aerobics.
  • If I can, I take a walk and listen to a podcast. I love RadioLab, The Moth, This Amercian Life, TED Radio--- I usually get so absorbed in the topics that it shifts my brain from what was stressing me out. I'll also take photos while I'm out because it's another way to set my thoughts on a different path.
  • I've never had a desire to have children and like a lot of women, I was told I'd change my mind but it never happened. I'm 44 with no regrets about reproducing. I have super sweet, smart, adorable husband who also never wanted children so we spoil our three cats and enjoy our peaceful household. Raising children is really…
  • My husband isn't incredibly interested in fitness and has no trouble staying thin but he does support my efforts. I try to get 10,000 steps a day or more and he'll walk with me if I'm feeling lazy or if I'm trying to finish up my last steps for the day. He also does a Tamilee Webb DVD with me because it's short and he…
  • Thanks, everyone! Some very good recommendations here!
  • You really need to work on your blog. It has little content and what's there isn't interesting. Also, I hate the font.
  • Thank you, Julie! I'm glad there are people like you working as psychotherapist. I'm in the healthcare field and see too many workers who are either lacking empathy or have compassion fatigue. We don't always have answers for people suffering from chronic pain but the least we can do offer them is some kindness and…
  • I'd welcome more friends. I don't get on the website as often as I check my newsfeed on my phone so I do most of my interacting with people there. I'm a 44 year old, married, crazy cat lady working in healthcare. My ticker says I'm trying to lose less than 10lbs but that's a short term goal because I'm not sure exactly…
  • I think it's worth it. I was really struggling with hunger and when I got the FitBit, I realized that I was more active than I thought. I also love the other features, like sleep tracking and silent alarm (it wakes me up without the obnoxious sound of a regular alarm clock).
  • Thank you both! Teabee, you definitely covered my question and beyond. Sounds like Leslie Sansone has more variety than I thought.
  • For me, the fat acceptance blogs were instrumental in motivating me to take better care of myself. I felt paralyzed with negative feelings about my body and learning acceptance prompted me to take steps towards eating better and getting more exercise. I'm grateful for the message that we're all worthy of good health,…
  • Anyone here can add me--- I always welcome geeky folks to my friend list.
  • I agree that Star Trek is far superior to Star Wars, though it's also entertaining. BSG rates as one of my all time favorites too.
  • Getting enough sleep is major for me as far as weight loss goes. I have joint pain and without sleep, I ache a lot more and am able exercise a lot less. I also crave sugar much more when tired or stressed and it's hard to avoid when I need to get through my generally chaotic work day.
  • I have this issue too and some days I do better than others. Our patients bring us tons of baked goods and my coworkers eat junkfood all day long. You can make a poor food decision around every turn. I have such a hard time avoiding sweets when I'm tired and stressed. I do a lot of cooking on Sundays so that I have good…
  • I'd love to have more active friends on my feed. I frequently access MFP on my phone so I get to interact more with people who are on my news feed, rather than the forums.
  • I think it comes down to personal preference. I take a walk immediately after lunch but that's just because it's the only break I have during my workday and it helps wake me up for the afternoon. I often finish exercising after work and do so on an empty stomach. My routine hasn't affected my weight loss--- I still lose an…
  • I drink a chicory blend coffee with half and half and a touch of English Toffee flavored stevia.
  • My recent favorites are kale chips and Fiber One brownies, both under 100 calories. At exactly 100 calories are Vitalicious muffin tops and Healthy Choice fudge bars--- I think both are delicious and taste "real".
  • I use the app along with Striiv Play and feel like some of the shine has worn off but I still think it's worth it. I used it everyday for several months and got my husband and few friends into it. It's been a lot of fun, even if it's not as motivating as it used to be.
  • I'm 44 with about 11 pounds to lose. I want to lose more but that's my current mini-goal. Anyone who'd like more friends, feel free to add me.
  • My base is very similar: unsweetened almond milk with protein powder (I use my chia seeds to make pudding). I add things like frozen strawberries, blueberries or a banana. I also love PB2 in my protein shake.
