57yrs old and still peri..... Have had a reasonably smooth time, just the odd day of feeling murderous or like crying in a corner..... Can't wait til it is done!

Wales!!

Me too please! I was down 160, gained back over 80 lbs and am now back on to the diet again!
-
You are a terrible line manager
-
You need to change it up a bit - too low a calorie intake and the body just grabs them all. Eat a few hundred more for a few days (but still in deficit) and then reduce a little. If you do this every few weeks you might see fewer plateaus but they are rather a fact of weight loss
-
The main thing I have learned in my loss of over 100lbs is that plateaus happen, they are a right pain, but if you keep weighing and logging the loss DOES begin again. It will then be speedy for a bit... so just keep on track and CICA will work

the boobs! yes!!

I have lost over 100 lbs and then gained a fair amount back until I got back into MFP. I am now about 20lbs from my new (more realistic) goal and would love to hear from anyone who can relate!!
-
Me too! Lost about 160 pounds a few years ago anf then did the dangerous thing and relaxed on the diet. Safe to say I gained about 100 pounds back again... so here I am, back on the diet! I restarted about three months ago andam finding the dieting more of a struggle this time round. I can do a strict diet and I can do…

Hi I started at 320 pounds and got down to 160.... then had a few holidays, enjoyed myself and gained about 100 pounds back. So.... I have started logging again and have got down to 244. Happy for more friends!
-
Hi Folks - I have lost 120 lbs (it was 160) and am back on track now. I am happy to offer support if needed! I started at 320 so no judging from me!

Wales, UK here!

I am totally with you all! Losing the weight (160 lbs at best) was much easier than maintaining..... As soon as I eat a little more I just seem to go wild, Since reaching goal, I have been gaining and then losing about 20 lbs over and over - is that what normal eating is?? I think that so long as I keep an eye and don't…
-
You can ALL do it!! I have lost half of my body weight in about 18 months - down to 160 from a start of 320 - and, believe me, if I can do it at my age then so can you youngsters! I still have my demons (cheese, bread, chocolate) but I have learned that if a few pounds go on then they will come off again when I get back on…
-
If it's helpful - I have lost 160 lbs over the last year and a half, starting at 320 lbs and now trying to stay at my target. If I can do it then you can do it too! I don't have fabulous will power nor am I able to exercise much, but by weighing and logging everything (and I mean everything) it works!!
-
I must say I managed ok - have lost 160 lbs at age 52-3 and without much exercise due to dodgy knees too. It is pretty straight forward - just log and weigh everything and stick to the limit set by MFP! Sounds easy but the rewards are huge!! Set yourself small targets and you find they soon add up....
-
If I can do it, then really you can! I have lost half my body weight (160lbs) and the trick for me was simply the logging of every single thing that went into my mouth - including medicines! It made me fully aware of what things weighed and that what I considered a portion was about double or more of the actual portion.…
-
yes - all the time! I have lost about 160 lbs (started at 320lbs) and officially could do with losing a bit more but I am comfortable where I am so am just getting back to maintenance after gaining a bit over the holidays. I do find it quite annoying but feel it is something I am happy to put up with!
-
massive amounts of lettuce and cucumber, a tomato, pickled onions, thin sliced smoked ham and a boiled egg salad. with low cal salad cream! about 300 calories
-
It is possible folks! I have lost over 150 lbs in 18 months and am happy to support others on the same journey. I started at 320 lbs and was under 160 just before christmas. I gained over the holidays but am back on track and have just a few more to lose to be back at half my original weight. It does work, logging everyday…
-
I don't know if it is helpful to add me - I have done it and have lost over 150 lbs in the last 18 months and would be happy to give help and support!
-
gained about 16lbs - how is that even possible!!? Back on track now, lost some really quickly and now have about 8lbs to get back where I was before Christmas (160 lbs lost). I will keep going until I fly off on holiday in 2 weeks when, no doubt, I will gain again. I have learned, though, that it does go if you get back to…

I am 53 and have lost 138 lbs in the last year with MFP. I can't exercise much due to arthritic knees (from being fat!) but it is possible if you just stick with it!!
-
yuk marmite
-
you have done so well - looking fabulous!
-
same - being able to eat what ever and when ever I fancied.... and no loose skin!
-
I am 5' 8" and have gone from 320 to my first goal weight of 190 lbs. I have lots of loose skin so don't want to go too low as I would look awful! My new goal is to be about 185lbs. I am older (53) and can't exercise much.
-
Not sure if this is the place to ask - was moving to maintenance hard? I have reached my goal (lost 130lbs) but I am finding it very hard to consider eating more..... as if I don't trust myself with those extra calories!
-
yes, 128 lbs down in eleven months - have reached my original goal and am losing a little more. Simply weigh and log everything that goes in your mouth!

This is all very true. often people put us down to keep their own lives in control and can't deal with the changes as it undermines their view of themselves. Time is a great healer even though the present might be so painful, now is the time to focus on your life and the amazing times ahead.
