I fnd it disturbing how many people think that not eating for 12hrs or longer is ok. Per my certified personal trainer........eat breakfast! You need to kick start your metabolism when you get up. Not eating at regular intervals brings down your metabolism. When your body doesn't know when it's next fueling is going to be…

She is jealous that you are making a change in your life that she thinks she can't. People that are too afraid to make changes to better themselves are always going to poo-poo those that are. You should ask her why she is being the way she is. Don't accuse but ask her and try to get her talking about herself. Do let her…

Yes, childhood obesity is running rampant but I don't believe it should be labeled as "child abuse". I really hate that term because everyone throws it around these days for multitudes of situations that are not close to abuse. Abuse is something that someone does to another with full knowledge of their actions and are…

I personally don't concern myself about cholesterol unless my numbers were obscenely high. Most Western doctors only know how to shove pills at us and don't really pay attention to all the possibilities of why the numbers are what they are. If you are eating healthly foods with lean meats I wouldn't be concerned about the…

Just takes practice and practice. You just have to keep at it. When you get frustrated, stop, take some deep breaths and center yourself and then keep going.

As everyone has already said....START LIFTING NOW!!! You will also not "bulk" up as women can not get big like men without a TON of work and major diet changes. By doing just cardio on a deficit you will actually lose muscle if you aren't eating enough. Start lifting, eat more protein and less carbs and you will build…
-
If you're going to lift you need to have at least 1day in between to allow your muscles to heal and as far as I know it doesn't make a difference wether you do cardio or weights first. I have a personal trainer and we've run before doing our session so not sure where you get the idea that you have to lift weights first.…

I know it's difficult being on the outside but I would just ignore them and do your own thing. They aren't your friends so what does it really matter. It can make some situations a little uncomfortable but you don't need them to make yourself feel better. Keep doing what you're doing, be healthy, lose weight and your…

An hour 1/2 of biking/walking is no where close to over exercising and they aren't activities that are very stressful to your joints. No need to worry.

You've lost 94lbs with just walking and swimming? Wow. Thats great; however, if you want to get lean and strong you are going to have to begin lifting. I'm thinking that no matter what you will have a lot of excess skin but strenght training will help a little along with a more consistant, slower weight loss. Dropping…

Hmm....well from my experience of last fall through the winter even though I was "working out" it turned out I wasn't really at the intensity it should have been. I was also eating not great but that's not your issue but maybe you are eating more then is needed. What are you doing for your workouts? Are you pushing…

This is pretty close to what I was going to suggest. I lift 3x week with a light cardio day in between sometimes. Definitely a break day between lifting. Your muscles need that recovery time.
-
40lbs in 9mos? That is not slow. That is fantastic!!! What are you expecting 10lbs per month??? 1lb a week is great and you are over that at times. Weight loss is not linear. Some weeks are going to be higher, some are lower. You are 21.....relax! I know you want your weight to be gone right this minute but it's not going…

I believe there is a big (no pun intended) spectrum with this. Should people that have weight feel that they are less deserving of happiness or aren't a beautiful person just because their outside doesn't match their inside, no. However, it seems to me that the whole fat acceptence thing has become a copout for people to…

Yep. When it comes to keeping my home and such things I too am incredibly lazy. Some of it I think comes from I'd rather do something I enjoy instead of something I don't but there comes a point where you just have to get off your *kitten* and do the stuff. Changes won't happen unless you make an effort and a point to do…

I second what everyone has already said. I've been doing eggs with chorizo sausage, swiss cheese and a little taco sauce for added flavor. If you want to add some carbs roll it up in a tortilla. Sauteed veggies would be tasty with it too.

WHAT????? Are you even serious? This is starting to sound like a troll to me. No one can be this ignorant on how a body loses weight.

If you get a free consult with one of the gyms personal trainers, do it. They can give you a lot of good info about what to do and can show you the proper way to use the machines. I use the lat pull down...great for your back(ridding yourself of the back fat) Leg press Butterfly Bench press or free weights laying in the…

I'm actually thinking the opposite. My trainer has me do timed workouts where I don't rest except when I really have to. I haven't asked him about it, but my thinking is that your body doesn't have the time to relax therefore it takes more effort to do the exercises therefore burning more calories. By doing the routine…

I agree. I also understand the temptation because at my work they continually do fundraisers for things like March of Dimes etc and continually bring in cookies, cupcakes, bagels etc. So irritating because our company wants us to be healthy......we get wellness time to workout and they do lunch & learn talks that many…

Seek professional help because if you think you are overweight then you have larger problems then not losing weight. Your weight/height ratio is spot on. "You Are Not Fat!!" You may be skinny/fat where you still have a lot of body fat and no muscle definition. If this is the case you need to be eating higher amounts of…

Others have said "you have to do what suits you" but eating 1 meal a day is not good for anyone to do for an extended period of time ever! You are basically stopping your metabolism. You have to continually feed your body to keep your metabolism up so it will burn off the calories. If you only feed your body 1 time a day…

I can always use more ACTIVE friends. I'm 42 and my diary is open but not anything exciting. :)

Ths is the first I've ever heard of numbers changing on their own. It's never happened to me. The only time my goals change is when I change them.

Cheese and fruit makes a nice snack. A 1ounce chunk of cheddar cheese is a lot smaller then you think and is a good 100 calories by itself. If you aren't hungry and it's a daily basis then I would say that you really need to start working on increasing your calories because you aren't eating enough and your body isn't…

First off congrats on your lose so far. Second, 2lbs every 3wks is amazing!! We always lose faster at the very beginning because we are losing water weight then it tapers off. I understand you are only 23 and want results right now but you have to realize that faster is not better when it comes to weight lose. Loosing…

I'm always looking for more active friends but I just looked at the group page and I don't see how there is any support etc. when the only thread that has been active is the "where are you from" thread. Otherwise the threads have been dead for over 2yrs. I'm confused.

This is actually incorrect. If you've ever seen straw that's much too dark for the color of your urine. Your urine should be a VERY pale yellow......per my urologist. So, there is not correct amount of "liquid" you need to drink. And it doesn't have to be just water. Any beverage such as tea, coffee, juice or whatever…

If you want to be thin but not have any muscles then just cut your calories and lose the weight. If you want to lose weight faster, gain strength, gain muscle and definition and look and feel better then you need to add exercise to your plate. Preferably weight training. Just doing cardio will burn calories but won't give…
