Re-access your eating habits. Maybe you think you're eating ok when in fact you've gone back to some old habits or portion sizes have gone up. Try something new for your activity. Are you a gym member or doing this on your own? If you have a gym do they have lower priced personal trainers? If you have the funds maybe look…

Only you can motivate yourself. Do you want a better life or not? If you do then get off your butt and just do it. The first step is the hardest but gets easier the more steps you take.

This. If you want a better life then making changes really isn't sacrificing. To me making a sacrifice means you are completely cutting out something that you really truly want and makes you happy. Our unhealthy habits, although perhaps superficially make us happy or are comforting, really don't do us good in the long run.…

Any calorie deficit will drop weight. Cardio will burn calories but in the long run you won't be strong with a lean/leaner body. Ideally you want to do both. You want to build the muscles so when you aren't working out your body is still burning calories. If all you do is cardio and don't build muscles you with be more…

Fabulous!! Just what I was needing for ideas on meat-less dishes. Thank you!

Be grateful you can't have surgery. Gastric bypass surgery is for extreme cases only IMHO. I know people that could easily do surgery and have had great success just controlling their eating and exercising. It's all about learning how to have a healthy lifestyle. **Disclaimer** If you don't want hard truths then don't go…

The only thing I've ever had bok choy in is stir fry. Chopped up just like the other veggies. I would think it could go in salads too just like any other lettuce.

Then broaden your horizons and stop being so pig headed about what you will and won't eat. There are tons of fabulous foods you are missing out because you won't be flexible enough to try them. Life is way to short to be shortsighted about what things you will and won't try.

I eat at work so my breakfasts have to be cold or microwavable. My mainstay is just a couple of eggs with a piece of canadian bacon chopped up and an ounce or less of cheese....cooked in microwave. I make refrigerator oatmeal which is 1/2 c equal parts rolled oats, milk and vanilla greek yogurt. Then add whatever fruit you…

Either work a spluge into your day or if just eat the treat and enjoy! One treat is not going to make or break you. It all evens out in the long run.

^^This. Why do you think you need 300-400?
-
This sounds pretty good to me. I don't know where you live, but I've come across feta crumbles that are flavored. I get the tomato/basil flavor. It's not overpowering at all.

^^This. If I change my eating habits enough where I eat healthier 90% of the time then counting calories on a daily basis shouldn't be needed. If I'm measuring my foods all the time then it's going to sink in what a cup of veggies looks like etc. It's kind of difficult to gain weight if I'm not eating processed foods,…

If you are only not wanting to eat those foods because they are "white" then go for brown rice and pastas and alternate flours. Why do you think you shouldn't be eating those foods? If you are thinking you should go lower carb that doesn't mean and no breads, pastas etc. It means lower amounts of carbs including fruits and…

From the movie Nottinghill: William: And, ah, what exactly is a fruitarian? Keziah: We believe that fruits and vegetables have feelings, so we think cooking is cruel. We only eat things that've actually fallen off a tree or bush- that are, in fact, dead already. William: Right, right. Interesting stuff. So, these…

I'm trying to watch my carbs too....around 120g a day and this week hasn't been really any different but I too am feeling bloated. It could be extra sodium like someone else said. I know I've had much higher sodium levels due to leftover corned beef all week. If all you feel is bloated and not other gut issues(associated…

Not doing Atkins but my trainer would like to see me do lower carb. Today is my first day really watching my carb intake. Add me if you'd like.
-
I'd get the short ribs.

Well, your first problem is that you are wanting to "diet". Diet's don't work. You should concentrate of just eating more proteins, vegetables and less fried, processed foods. You have very little to lose so you really don't need anything special. Exercise more, eat better, track your food(that you've weighed or measured)…

Your mental change to want to make a body change is the most important first step. Good job! Take this very slowly. DO NOT make a lot of changes at once! You will get overwhelmed and give up. I would suggest starting with small amounts of exercise like the walk you mentioned. Just walking will do A LOT for you. There is no…

Everybody is different. I lost almost 20lbs and had only bought a couple things because I don't have a stack of cash to throw around for in between clothes. If you feel you need new clothes after losing 5lbs of water weight then go for it. Do what makes you happy. It's your money and psyche.

Fabulous. Thank you all for the info.
-
Thank you so much. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I've been leaning towards Jawbone but just wasn't positive.
-
Any other opinions?? Does anyone know if Jawbone or Fitbit track your calorie burn. I want a more accurate reading on my BMR and TDEE. I've researched the sites and I just don't get a clear picture of their capabilities.
-
The main thing that I want is to be able to track my calorie burn so I can better manage my meals and exercise routines. Edit. I just saw that it's the Fitbit Force that they are recalling and not selling at the moment although it's a very small % of people that have had issues.
-
Thanks for the input.

I just saw a picture of this girl and she does look kind of gaunt. I don't watch the show anymore because I feel the whole show in general gives people the wrong viewpoint on losing weight. These people have nothing else to do but work out day after day and are in a compettion. If they don't lose double digits they get…

Oh, and another thing. Is that 1200 calories before or after eating back your exercise calories? Because if it's before then you aren't eating enough either. Your body needs fuel to function and if you don't give it enough it will hold onto everything you do give it.
-
Agree. Seriously? Let me guess you are in your very early 20's? A week? You need to relax and realize things don't happen over night---surprise! If you've started working pretty vigorously and that's new then it's very possible that you are retaining water. Just calm down and give it some more time for your body to…

If your TDEE is 1670 then that is what you need to strive for daily. If this # includes your exercise then this is what you need to stay close to. If this does not include your exercise then you need to eat back your exercise calories so you stay close to this #. The scobby site is good place to calculate your TDEE based…
