I agree with this in general.

Great comment about the Inuits. I now try to limit carbs to about 120 grams or less per day. When I do long cardio-over an hour- I may eat few more bananas or apples. I find I have more energy and easier to control hunger.
-
I also reduced the amount of wheat and rice I eat. It is easier to control my appetite (hunger) and I have less energy fluctuations.

No problem losing fat by drinking 4 or more nights a week. Weekdays I limit the drinking to 2 guiness (meal replacement). Friday and Sat- the number of beers (vodka, scotch, tequila, whatever) may go up a little. Life is meant to be fun.

Wow- Impressive change! Keep up the good work. I lost a waddle I had under my chin and will keep it off.

Hey. Look on the bright side. The food giants were looking out for you by reducing your exposure to mad cow disease and pig diseases. :)

I am on a moderate carb diet (about 100-120 grams/day) and I can totally relate. If I eat high glycemic carbs in the morning I am done. Downward spiral-insulin spike- low blood sugar- eat sugar- insulin-..... I now eat bacon, eggs and sausage for breakfast every day- no exceptions. The fat gives me a flat blood sugar. On…

I agree with this. Good shoulder caps on guys and girls can set off the entire balanced muscular look.
-
Matt- Awesome results! Can't argue with the balanced muscular look you have obtained with your lifters. I agree with almost everything- but I am having trouble with the drop cardio completely. I understand where you are coming from. I tried that about 10 years ago and my strength and weight went way up. However, I was…

I hate this too. When a guy or girl is on the same routine as me - flat bench, incline, ... and you start following them. So awkward.

Basically, I believe low carb works because it is results in less hunger pains, i.e. lower will power required to stay in calorie deficit. No matter the diet, you must burn 3500 calories more than you eat to reduce 1 pound of fat. With a high carb diet, you are likely to spike insulin, which often results in lowering the…

Low carb works for me because it reduces the chances of insulin spikes, which halts fat burning until the sugar level in the blood is reduced (which is usually reduced too much by the insulin resulting in intense hunger pains). It is easy to spike the insulin with today's processed foods. Really low (below 20 grams) puts…

Depends on your personal definition of smart (is this the same as intelligent?). I believe everyone is smart in different ways. No one has it all. I am good in math/science- but have no artistic ability, musical ability or common sense. Does that make me stupid to some- probably. Some can effortlessly draw or play music,…

I think you can lose weight drinking water because it does burn calories to heat the water to body temperature. One calorie of food is the amount of energy to raise the temperature of 1 liter of water 1 degree celcius. We are supposed to drink 2 liters of water a day (which is a little less than 8 cups). If you drink 2…

That is the ultimate goal of every guy- replace fat with muscle. However, that is also the hardest to accomplish. I can do it for short periods with strict diet control. I know no one that can do this long term (without HGH). The scale is the worst bench mark. I use measuring tape, calipers, mirror and strength gains. If I…

All of them. Great smile!

Any article that says a large group of people can't do something is highly suspect and should be discounted. I wouldn't read past the title.

Hey- Not everything thinks that way- and it was only a few people. So what. Don't be so sensitive. They are probably jealous of your good looks!
-
My eyesight is not so good. So anything that points me in the right direction and/or gives instructions is welcome.

Last picture. Amazing abs. I am jealous. Trying to get the same.
-
Whatever you like. I do a three day split. Monday is chest, back and shoulders, Wed. legs, and Thursday biceps, triceps and heavy abs. Cardio and abs throughout the week. My favorite cardio is running. Once you do the lifting right (form and nutrition) you will become addicted because the feedback is quick in strength…

What do you want to accomplish? Size, strength, stamina, range of motion, healing, etc? My understanding of "heavy lifting" is lifting a weight sufficiently heavy so that the last repetition (rep) you can barely lift the weight- i.e. you have taken the muscle to failure, at a low rep range (i.e. less than 10 reps total).…

I just do not agree with the mentality that cardio wastes your muscles. I believe it depends on diet more. For example, five years ago I started training for my first marathon. I was benching 275 easily at the start of training. I joined road runners and did their running program, which a lot of slow long distance runs…

I am always open to new ideas. What do you guys mean by drop the cardio? Do you mean no biking, running, swimming, etc? What do you do besides lifting?
-
You asked the hardest to obtain. I have been after losing fat at the same time as gaining muscle my entire adult life- very difficult balance. Usually as we cut calories to lose fat, muscle goes too. I used my diet diary for feedback. I noticed when my carbs were above about 120 grams during cutting calories I was hungry…

Once you get moving you will feel better. I now like the tight feeling (sometimes slightly sore) feeling in the morning. Different from injury type pain. I agree with above poster about not working same muscle group within 24 hours (probably should be more like 3 days) if the working out was lifting weights to failure.…
