  • Can you row instead of run? That's what I did when I was out of action running-wise for a few weeks due to an injury. Even with modifications, cross fit is wonderful. I agree with what another poster said above about rehab. Maybe go see a sports physical therapist or someone similar. I've been going to an airrosti practice…
  • I used to track and then the combo of paleo plus tracking made me start to get a little crazy. I'm very ocd and was getting mad at myself for every little slip. I know what is a healthy amount to eat and I know what foods are good and bad. Just letting go of the counting has been wonderful. I try to be mostly primal but I…
  • And if you have a strong enough blender you can add in sliced almonds to get some more protein.
  • The bear complex is a killer. You are using your whole body and are in a kind of weird position so it ups your hr more than running.
  • I have a Garmin 310XT and you put in your level of fitness (from 1-10 on with 10 being someone who works out at high intensity 7 days a week). I rank myself as a 7. I average about 200-250 cal a workout with the workouts that involve long runs getting up to a max of 450 (ie 4x 800mrun plus 50 box jumps). A lot of this…
  • I just did the Austin one as well. The arctic enema wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected. It is a shock and it's hard to take in a breath bc the cold makes you hyperventilate but there are definitely worse obstacles. Definitely put on sunblock. I only put it on my face and now i have an awesome burn on the back of my…
  • You are welcome to add me. I have been on a bit of a rampage cheating-wise lately but most of the things I eat until dinner are usually pretty good.
  • also with the issue of the ugly winter months, check craigslist for treadmills. I bought one for less than $300 last year and I love having it at home.
  • You can run AND do cross fit. Start out slow with cross fit. Go 3x a week and run the other 3 days. Crossfit can easily be addicting but if you really do love running you should keep time for that too. I feel the same way. I started cross fit, got hooked and went 5x a week for a few months. I was getting stronger…
  • This is just a guess but it might be related to the switch from your body using carbohydrates for energy to fat. When I first started eating that way I was in the bathroom all day long as my body dropped all the water weight. You may need to drink more water. Or a downside to losing a good amount of weight is that the…
  • I'm in. I started yesterday though. I did a practice week last week so I could make sure I was getting enough calories so that I could not track for the entire time. Lost almost 5lbs of bloat and water weight in a week. Crazy. My workouts were a little tough but I've already talked to my crossfit coach about it all and he…
  • I'm in my fourth month and I'm only now starting to see actual numeric changes (weight/body fat). My husband has been raving about my butt since about one month in though ;) I've seen tremendous gains in strength and endurance however. My first crossfit workout was 4X400 m sprints. I was seeing stars and almost throwing up…
  • Target is always good. Pretty good wicking material stuff for a decent price. Compression-wise I'm all about under armour but you pay for it. I keep hearing about those adidas shoes they came out with for crossfit but I haven't tried them yet. I use my brooks pure cadence since I run with them as well.
  • This is from a month ago and I know I can definitely do more with the back squat and the deadlift. Presses are another story. Even with the push press I can't do much more weight. Skinny little t-rex arms are definitely a work in progress :) Back squat 105 Deadlift 155 Press 60
  • Started at the beginning of May. I only know a few max reps. Deadlift 155 Press 60 (oh what I would give to be able to use my legs on this one - t rex arms just don't cut it overhead ;) back squat 105 Haven't done any snatches, cleans or jerks in a while but I've been improving in leaps and bounds going 5 days a week in…

  • I know how you feel. I busted my leg doing box jumps during Hope. It didn't feel that bad at the time. Minor little gash. By that night I could barely put weight on the leg and the next day had the ugliest bruise going from lower/mid shin almost up to my knee. (I am a bruiser anyways. Don't think I have had a bruise free…
  • 3 rounds of: run 100m: 200m: 400m with 1:1 rest WOD 10 minutes AMRAP 10 pullups 15 pushups 20 squats Went at 6am. Thought the running would be brutal but it wasn't too bad. I love going before work. Makes me happy to start my day.
  • Drink water more consistenly throughout the day prior to running? You might have already been in a mild state of dehydration before you even ran and then running just made it worse.
  • Add me too :) I've been doing crossfit for about 6 weeks now and I love it. For the jump rope adjusting - you can tie knots in it near the handles until it become short enough. And I'm an Aggie too. For sure not a 2%er with crossfit :)
  • Well I don't know what is happening but I hope it happens to me ;-) It is weird though. The more weight I lose the less boobs I have. Guess you are just lucky?
  • Here's a good link with 10 of the best ab exercises. The bicycle really is a good one. http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abexercises.htm I know how you feel. My stomach is my problem area too and I just can't seem to get it toned the way I want it. I've heard diet has a lot to do with it and I am a carb/sugar addict so…
