I would suggest staying away from processed foods and foods containing a lot of fat and carbs at once. I saw a documentary about carbs and sugar and they pointed out that although we probably wouldn't eat a whole bowl of Sugar on its own or a whole pat of butter when they are mixed together the result is a highly addictive…

Following for all the great info

I read this too. Think I would have asked to be referred to a specialist lol

Just upping my calories to a more sensible level helped me. Most of your gain was probably just replenishing your body's stores of what it needed. Try aiming for a smaller deficit and lose weight slowly.

Maybe because you're not updating your weight daily? Idk but take that number at the end of the day with a pinch of salt as they aren't accurate for most of us. Just do your best and the weight will come off. Remember weight loss is not linear and there will be weeks when you lose nothing and weeks when you might drop 4lbs
-
Don't panic. Most of what you lost in the first week was water so the 5lbs you've 'gained' is only really water not fat. You're still hopefully 2lbs of fat down so smile and jump up and down (for 10-15 minutes lol) with joy and look forward to losing more fat this week :)

Oh dear. Glad I am not easily offended.

When I increased from 800 I gained a couple of lbs but as soon as I got up around 1400 the weight just fell off plus about another 10lbs.
-
Why the rush? The slower you go the more likely you are to keep the weight off and 2lbs a week is great progress. Also if you lose too fast you will lose a lot of muscle mass. If it's just this one week then you could cut the calories a bit more or fast before the weigh in but I wouldn't recommend it. Pretty sure you could…

I think mfp's calculation is pretty accurate for me. I ate about 60 cals above for a couple of weeks and seemed to gain very slowly. It's only an estimate so you have to play around with the numbers. If you have a fair bit of muscle you can get away with eating more.

I'm glad I didn't do this. I had some clothes that were too small for me (some that I used to wear and a couple that I almost fit into at some point) and when I slimmed down this time I completely changed shape so they never fit me. I ended up sulking because I still couldn't fit in the clothes I had and liked lol

I started out with cans of mushy peas. It definitely helped me start to build some strength and got me ready for heavier things.

Weigh and measure everything you eat and drink for the next couple of weeks. You don't really know what you're consuming unless you count it all. You could be taking in too many calories/carbs/sugars without realising. So many of us thought we were eating healthily before we found mfp

I like to track my weight daily so I can understand the usual fluctuations. Today I was up a lb but I know that's because I was still eating at midnight. Other reasons could be if you ate too much salt yesterday, worked out, monthly cycle for females, body temperature when you weighed, whether you've been to the toilet or…

In for info. I dieted down to the lowest acceptable weight but the belly and overhang are still there so I don't think further dieting is the answer. I've been doing cardio, planks, crunches for about over a year and lifting for about 6 months (can't lift heavy though due to health problems) and its a bit firmer but I…

Getting down to a 10 sounds do-able. I've gone from a UK 16-18 down to a 6-8 and I thought my bones would never fit in any clothes that small.
-
I think I lost about 35lbs in the first 6 months but then I only really had 50lbs to lose. The bigger you are, the faster it should come off.

Size doesn't make a jot of difference to me. Personality really is all that matters.

Yup. I was netting around 800 for a few months and hit a wall. As soon as I started to slowly increase the cals the weight started to come off again. I instantly felt better and I stopped falling asleep all through the day. My body had the energy to do what I wanted it to do rather than just trying to keep my organs…

Thanks for posting that info mjudd. My muscles are growing doing low weights, high reps but I'm not getting any stronger as I'm not allowed to increase the weights for medical reasons. It's nice to have some science to explain what's going on. My goal is to recomp so I'm ok (alright, I'm a bit sad I can't lift heavy) with…

You've found your maintenance calories (which is no easy task!). Now cut 10-15% off of that a day and you should start losing :)
-
Some good advice given here. My advice is not to fret so much as in the UK it's suggested that women can maintain eating around 2000 calories a day so with any luck eating under that amount each day will lead to weight loss so don't worry about being over your goal for now. Re evaluate in a couple of weeks time and see if…

Speaking from experience chances are he'll enjoy watching you work out

Just over a year ago around my bum was 40" and my waist was 33". To date I've lost about 7 inches off both measurements so I'm thinking you may always have this problem but you never know where the fats going to come off. Would low rise jeans help as they'd be wider to fit round the hips? Edited to say that I have to buy…

20 minutes is great. I'm sure you'll be fitter and able to last longer in no time

It has been for me but then I needed something to throw myself into when I finished uni and became a stay at home mum. I love spending time with my kids and needed to be at home as my new born was poorly for a long time but I also needed something else to get stuck into so weight loss became my full time job.

Ugh I have 5 kids in the house who love to be surrounded by junk food. Just gotta learn to say no.
