  • I’d love to be losing faster but it’s just not happening so slow and steady it is. I’ve been back here nearly 9 weeks and I’m 11 lbs down so it’s going alright really
  • I’m like that with walking quite often. I’ll get in a really good one and then I’m too tired, busy, unmotivated. It helps if you can schedule the runs into your week so you’re putting time aside for them and don’t have any excuse not to do it or how about a running challenge for charity?
  • I can put a plaster on my little toe by myself (one of my walking boots rubs a bit otherwise). A few weeks ago I couldn’t do that or get my shoes on without help
  • I just had a flick through the MyFitnessPal Facebook page and both challenges that I’ve been part of this year are on there
  • Your post is pretty messy lol but a higher fat intake can work. I go over on my fats (60-85g a day) but try to keep my carbs around 110-130g a day which is fairy low and I'm losing weight. You need some complex carbs for energy as you are active but you also need protein and its fine to increase your fats a bit to get more…
  • I would up calories to 1800 as suggested and give it a couple of weeks. If you don't lose then maybe 1800 is a bit high, if you lose a a lb or 2 you're at the right amount. If you lose more than 2lbs then you can increase the calories a bit more. When I was eating too low I soon stopped losing weight until I started…
  • I don't think any food should be demonised but that we should teach our children which foods are better for us and which we should have in moderation. My daughter came home with a letter the other day that said their new topic was 'Why we can't eat chocolate for breakfast' and I wasn't best pleased. Theres seriously no…
  • I reckon you you could eat more and lose. I am 5'3, 8st 8lbs, burn around 400 calories a week (probably over estimated by mfp's calculations) and am losing weight consuming 1400-1600 a day. So I'm shorter, lighter and in theory don't need as many calories as someone your height and weight.
  • Is there no info on the packet? There is an entry in the database for Homemade - Popcorn (plain) which is in grams

  • I don't have cheat meals every week because every now and then I'll feel too tired to cook so we'll get a takeaway or someone will say they want to go out for a meal and if I'd had a cheat meal that week I'd feel like I was ruining my diet. I have recently lowered my carb intake though as it makes my tummy happy and I feel…
  • Exercise burns calories which means I can eat more so I'm happier and more likely to stick to my diet :)
  • To regain the weight I basically just gave up on the calorie counting as it put me in a bad place mentally and I didn't eat and I gave up the exercise too but ideally I would have just increased my intake by 50 to 100 calories a week until I'd gotten up to a reasonable amount whilst exercising to build strength. Currently…
  • Are you sure its not mainly lose skin at your size? I got sickly thin in an effort to get rid of my huge tummy but even after the fat was gone it still looked huge due to excess skin from having children. I re gained 20lbs and I felt much better about myself as I didn't look sick anymore and my tum fitted me better with a…
  • Do you feel tired? I lost at first eating at 1200 but I felt so drained after a couple of months and my weight loss plateaued. I slowly increased to 1400 and started losing again. Then once I was working out 6 times a week I was losing eating 1700-1800 calories a day.
  • Veggie mini kievs, veggie sausage, cauliflower, broccoli, babycorn and carrots in a herby sauce with cabbage and asparagus
  • Hot chocolate always surprises me-especially when it's one that tasted really weak and watery yet mfp says it has 300 or 400 cals regardless
  • This is a fun thread. I'm a SAHM of 5 - 2,5,7,8 and 11. I try to get exercise into my day by making sure I tackle those tougher cleaning jobs that so easily get forgotten when theres so much to keep tidy on the surface. Cleaning the oven takes a lot of elbow grease! I also lunge around the house rather than lounge around…
  • Its important to fuel your body with good food. For most people (unless you have a health condition) its simply a matter of calories in and calories out. Hopefully in your time at the gym you've used your surplus calories to build some muscle which will enable you to eat more as you'll burn more calories than someone with…
  • Did you have a lot of fat with your carbs? Feeding laboratory rats with either high-fat and high-sugar diets did little to change their daily habits or health but supply them with chocolate, biscuits and cheesecake (a near 50-50 fat and sugar split) and behaviour changed radically. They ignored other foods for the…
  • Thank goodness I've already had my pb fix today. Might have to go and try the nutella and greek yogurt dip though!
  • Hi, I'd like to join. Had 6 months off and regained 20lbs. I'd hoped to have shifted 14lbs by my birthday at the start of June but I've been lacking motivation so the scales not moving and I need all the help I can get.
  • You've been working your muscles so they're holding onto water for repairs. It'll settle.
  • If you've lost 4-5lbs since 22nd Feb then that's probably a few lbs water weight and around an acceptable lb a week since? If this the case then you probably aren't eating as low as you think and you need a scale to log more accurately. It is important to eat your calories as otherwise your body will use muscle for fuel…
  • I've never been less proud of a man than a woman for losing an amount of weight. Its a struggle for anyone to change bad habits and make improvements so I wouldn't undermine their efforts. That said I do get the hump sometimes that my man eats whatever he likes and stays roughly the same weight without trying. If he does…
  • I used to find mean and concerned comments from those close to me quite hurtful but I tried to brush off their comments knowing that I'd find my happy weight. Once I told them I was eating 1700-1800 calories a day and showed them my little muscles they usually shut up. I did end up a little underweight but I knew I'd gone…
  • You say you want carbs. Could that be because you feel like they give you energy-maybe there is a better option to energise you? Or because they make your stomach feel full and that makes you feel better? Soup is apparently really good at helping you feel fuller for longer- "If you eat the food and drink the water, you…
  • I've found that when I'm feeling really emotional but also trying to lose weight I try to snack on healthy things as I want to reach my goals but in the end I'm not happy until I have what I really want to eat so I end up eating a lot more than I needed to. Would you end up eating less if you just ate the food you really…
  • I second that your muscles are holding water. If I train everyday the scale either doesn't move or goes up. Its only when I have a few days off that I see a drop on the scale.
  • I have 5 young children and started trying to lose weight when my youngest was around 6 months old. I tried to eat right and danced and did exercise videos at home. I lost 60lbs so it can be done as long as you stay disciplined.
