I had to take a bit of a break to realise that I could maintain on a higher amount of calories. I struggled mentally for 3 months to (very slowly) up my calories and I lost 10lbs more than I mean't to because my body was so happy to have more fuel that it started to work more efficiently and burn up the fat. It took a…

I definitely managed to build a bit of muscle and still lose but I think its more about retaining muscle to give your body a nice shape at the end of your weight loss at the moment. There are some studies on the net about people losing weight and gaining muscle at the same time by eating at a surplus on training days and a…

Doing a mixture of cardio and strength is great. Make sure you warm up, stretch and warm down and stretch afterwards. If you get really sore take it easy or rest the next day. Then if you've rested but still feel sore its probably ok to work through a bit of soreness. Just listen to your body and watch your form to avoid…

I think you just have to keep trying. The more you keep pushing yourself, the stronger you'll get. There are so many different types of exercises that I'm sure you can find enough that you can do full sets of to fill your workout time and just keep practicing the harder ones

I think most people could probably fit into single number trousers. Even now I've lost the weight and am 5 sizes down I still believe I'm big boned and my hips are wide (especially after 5 babies) but I'm able to wear UK size 8 jeans which I think is a US 6? I fit in some UK 6's but I'm quite happy wearing 8's and don't…

I have the same problem/areas/weight. I'm struggling to firm up inner thighs and get rid of the tummy overhang. Since Christmas I've kinda fallen off the wagon a bit but from previous research I reckon the best thing we can do is a lean bulk to try and recomp our bodies. Eat at a slight surplus and get lifting to build…

I reckon 1200 is too low for most people. It can be a scary thought to eat so much but I tried the low calorie approach and was exhausted constantly and my hair started to turn white! Not good. Upping my cals was very hard as I struggled for a long time to eat more but it was the best thing I could have done for my health…

I would prefer to lift heavy as I would like to gain strength but I am unable. Lifting lighter weights for 3 sets of 10 I am seeing some muscle gains and I'm hoping to see more by starting a bulk. There have been some studies saying that muscle gain is pretty much the same with either approach so it might be worth…

Much nicer sandwich shops around than subway. I did go there once but when making my veggie friendly sandwich they took the tongs from a plate of meat and stuck them in the salad I'd asked for so I told them to stick it.

I can only imagine! What I do know is that I learned a lot from calorie counting. I was previously trying to diet just by eating foods that I thought were healthy but I kept gaining. As soon as I started to log foods it turned out that many were a lot higher in calories and/or fat than I had ever thought. Also, once I got…

I would probably lose my family. Trying to get healthy has no doubt driven everyone around me nuts with all the obsessive calorie counting but its given me back some of my sanity and I think life must be better for them. I still suffer quite badly with depression but I don't keep everyone awake with my all night, every…

Sounds stupid. I'm sure if you explain the reasons guys would like girls to have this (as posted above) it'll put her off. I'm now worried too though as I'm trying to flatten my tum so I can wear a bikini for the first time this summer but I already get complaints from the other half about how boney and sticky outty my hip…

I work out barefoot as I think my feet get more of a workout too. I broke my foot last Christmas and it wasn't until I ditched the shoes last summer that I started to have less pain because of the previous break.

Firstly, congrats of your weightloss, you should be proud. I heard it takes a year or so for your skin to catch up a bit after you've finished losing weight. No one can say how much or if your skin will tighten up but there is time for improvement yet. Surgery could be an option in the future or you could try less invasive…

In. As a veggie I struggle to stay low carb too. Surely I'm going to get sick of eating cheese soon lol

I never usually get going with the new years resolution until around the 5th as I tend to over do it on New Years eve and suffer for a few days after lol. Great news that you're sticking with your resolution. Keep up the great work!

I think it would be a good idea to ask your Dr for advice. Personally, I feel that 1200 calories is very low and most people can eat more than that and lose weight especially at higher weights as you'll burn more calories doing daily things than a smaller person. Then when the weight loss stalls you'll have room to cut…

My original goal weight was 125 but I didn't feel like that was enough so I decided to shoot for 117. I think that was a good weight for me but I still wasn't happy with my body so I kept slimming. Now I weight 108 and I think that is definitely too low. Once Christmas hols are done I plan to get back to trying to bulk up…

I have eaten tons! Crisps, sweets, chocolates, cream cakes, various types of cheese on crackers, chips. You name it and I've most likely eaten it this week. I still have a chocolate bomb cake, box of chocs and 2 tubs of pringles to go! I am going to try to control myself tomorrow but I'm not making any promises until this…

I'm 5'4, 108lbs and wear a UK size 8 (is that a 6 US?)

Firstly, great job on losing the weight and you look great in your pics. Now, I know how frustrating loose skin can be. I have it on my arms, thighs and of course my tum after carrying 5 big babies. I say give your skin some time to catch up naturally for now and do what you can to help it without resorting to surgery…

I second this ^^^ I feel like my belly is a little bigger at the moment too but then I tried something on and it seemed looser round my middle Its difficult to gauge progress just from these 2 pics. Take lots of pics from different angles and try to get some from the same angles as last time. Did you take the pics first…

I started this journey last year because I was damn right miserable. I'd been studying for 6 years and when my degree finished in 2012 I decided to become a full time mum to my 5 little ones (my youngest was only born 3 months before I graduated). I became lonely and depressed being stuck indoors all day with no academic…

I don't really have any friends but I'm slimmer than most of my family

I think you need to start counting calories again. You may find that you are consuming too many or more likely by what you've said, too few. If you don't eat enough for your body to function properly then your body will hold onto the fat. I ate around 800 cals a day for months and hit a wall. When I finally started to…

Well done! Thanks for sharing!

I don't know how much you are hoping to lose but if you are losing inches then the program is obviously working! The scale can be evil. Surely creating a nice slimmer and stronger shape is better than a number on a scale? I have often found that when I work out consistently I gain a few lbs and then don't lose until I stop…

I'd say you need to eat more. My weight loss stalled out for a long while when I was only consuming 800 cals a day. I very slowly increased up to 1400 a day and continued to lose weight as my body needed more fuel to function. I also stopped falling asleep all the time and being quite so grouchy lol. Eating that little…
