I joined a new group here today...especially for Zumba lovers. Check it out!

I like to make corrections or changes sometimes, so I copy (control C) after I preview, then delete the post. After that, I paste it (control V) and change before I add it again. Too many steps, but at least it works! My wish list includes being able to delete some of the duplicate food items on the "recent" list. Also,…

I abstain from sugar and its processed cousins...have since 1978, before a lot of you were born. But that is because I'm an admitted "Sugarholic" and couldn't eat just one piece like many of my MFP friends, and was tired of yo-yo dieting. I will never give up my fruit, or limit myself to one piece a day as you do. As long…

Did you get back at that person by spiting yourself? It only made you feel worse.

I have been on maintenance for a couple of months now, and found the link interesting. I don't know how so many can maintain on 2500 calories or so. MFP upped me to 1410 from 1200 while I lost the weight. I am 5'2" and currently 117 pounds. I eat some of my exercise calories, and pretty much never go over, but my diet was…

I'm sure that it's not great for you, but I drink a Diet Coke every day, and I'm happy, healthy, have none of those problems, and am in great shape...aerobics, weight training, and Zumba every week...AND I'm 72 years old!

I lost my weight on1200, but maintenance is set at 1410, plus or minus exercise calories. That seems to work for me, especially since I eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. I keep a daily diary which may help you (did not keep a log while we were out of town Thursday through Monday) and would be happy to give you any…

Absolutely, YES! After years of binging on sugar, and yo-yo dieting, I gave it up completely in 1979, before most of you were born! I can still gain a little weight, but it is really controllable, especially with the help of MFP. So yes, it can be done. Now I look at a cake as if it were a bouquet of flowers...beautiful,…

A good trick is to shop the outside perimeter of your supermarket. Produce, dairy, meat, fish, and bread are located there. Processed and junk food are in all the rows. Not perfect advice, but helpful.

If you try some/or all of these good hints and are still "hungry," you may be eating out of habit or in response to stress or boredom. Try diversions like outdoor exercise, involvement in a project you like, etc. Are you still hungry?

First thought...if overeating is a problem for you, don't go there! If you must go: Fill most of your plate with salad, dressing on the side. Avoid fried foods and buttery sauces. Take a small portion of protein, grilled or steamed, and a taste of starch. Fruit for dessert. Don't go up for seconds or try to get your…

Checked with my husband, and he voted for the fuller skirt. More elegant and equally sensuous. My two cents: You'll be sitting down a lot and will be more comfortable in this one. P.S. If he's not looking at you, he's crazy. You're gorgeous.

I've been on Levothyroxin for half my lifetime. (diagnosed with Hashimoto's Syndrome...inherited low thyroid condition...when my Dr. felt a goiter and diagnosed hypothyroidism when I was 35.) I'm 72 now! I actually went off the pills for a short time when I was doing double aerobics every day, but a blood test showed that…

Hey, low fat turkey bacon's pretty darn good.

I am somewhat older (a very young 72!) and just retired last year. My diary is open to friends and I log every day, even though I'm at goal weight. Interested?

Great advice...and role model!

Eating a varied diet of healthy, natural foods is still the answer. Fruit and vegetables with naturally occurring sugars aren't a problem. (I agree that this is not true for diabetics.) I prefer whole fruit to juices, because they seem more satisfying and add needed fiber to our diets.

I stayed on 1200 a day (often with an extra 200 or so from exercise) until the extra pounds came off, and I'm 5'4". I agree with the posts that said that the quality of those calories really counts. Are you able to get the fresh produce and good protein you need for a healthy diet? My maintenance program is only 1410, and…

My sister had a trick when eating pizza at home or at a restaurant. She blotted the melted cheese with paper napkins. That's all extra fat that comes off!

I gave up processed sugar in 1979 and haven't looked back. I was tired of "yo-yo" dieting, and although I was fine, there is a diabetes in my family. I consider myself a Sugarholic! I eat lots of fruits and vegetables, so there are plenty of natural sugars in my diet. I also try not to use too many artificial sweeteners,…

I wouldn't have peanuts around, but find that the 100 calorie microwave packs of popcorn give a generous, controlled portion...I love the Kettle Corn! I gained around 9 pounds last spring eating fabulous food while river cruising in Europe, and was not happy. Lost a couple on my own, then discovered MFP in November. I was…

Just found your posts on MFP. I can empathize with someone in our age group who loves to exercise, but sometimes can't. I've had something going on in my lower back & legs since January, and really miss my exercise classes, Zumba, and dancing. A little walking is all I can handle, but have been going to physical therapy,…

I'm finally at goal, but even at 1200 calories, the last 5 pounds was slow going. The exercise calories helped a lot ( I don't think you get enough credit for shoveling snow...that's hard work!) On maintenance, I only get 1410 calories pre-exercise. I'm 121 lbs., 5'4", so any exercise helps!

Still frustrated with the lack of progress on the scale. Status quo for more than a week, and MFP tells me that I am under the allotted calorie count on most days. I wonder if they overestimate the calories burned in my various exercises?
-
I totally agree. Each pound is a challenge...but it's still better than having more to lose. We'll make it!

I just read a book that addresses binge eating, particularly. "Food Addiction (revised)" by Kay Sheppard. It is especially helpful if you tend to binge on the same kinds of food.

It's the toppings (cheese, bacon bits, etc.) that add up when you order salad. You can always have them left off. Don't forget the old "dressing on the side" trick. Dip your fork in the dressing to get the flavor on your greens as you eat. Mustard instead of mayo on a sandwich, and maybe take off the top slice of bread and…
