Hi Tom, I can relate to your perspective of being alone in getting healthy and fit - my family isn't very supportive. They were fed up with hearing about my next 'great' diet I've found', until I found MFP and realised it was just about science exercise and nutrition and balancing your energy. Now they are shocked at my…

...your workout 'trousers' keep falling down when you run - and then buying new knickers doesn't solve the problem

If you have access to a HRM then you could work out your aerobic / anaerobic levels and work in the zone that best suits your goals whilst trying different types of exercise perhaps from the ones suggested in this thread . Good luck in reaching your goals :flowerforyou:

Thank you !!! This is really encouraging  My diet has been through a complete overhaul in the last couple of months since getting on MFP, controlling the urge to overeat and not bingeing (sp?). The weight is coming off, and the exercise is increasing as I'm getting fitter but it sounds like I need to address the…

I am new too - today begins my week 3. I would also like to point out that the price is on par with the peak gym membership at our old 'globo' gym and now I'm getting personal training as standard. IMO you can't get better than that... Look at http://www.board.crossfit.com/ for guidance. In crossfit, you are your own gauge…

This is why MFP is such a valuable resource - you wouldn't find this quality of support, dedication and guidance anywhere else. joyzy I think you are an amazing inspiration to anyone and everyone whatever their goals are. Your dedication and commitment makes the grand scheme of things realistic - as they say 'you have set…

I was wondering what 5'6" looked like at 60kg - this is my goal too so thanks for being such an inspiration to stay motivated! You look gorgeous and I love your outfit!! :flowerforyou: x

I joined crossfit as the house was immaculate and I was bored of doing house work when I wasn't working and needed to tone up, and encourage the weight loss along further. Hubby is ex army, fit and wanted to learn to cook. So he's learning to cook and I'm learning to get fit. We quit our gym as that was the budget for the…

I had the same worry for my fundamentals session. Mine was 4 sessions of 1hr each across two weekends and it taught form, nutrition, and gave perspective on the crossfit mentality. We worked with a PVC pipe which simulated the bar to focus on form when lifting. 'Our' box also seems to have a strong mentality that you…

My bum - wherever I go I can guarantee that it will be behind me every step of the way

Anybody? ... or have just posted this in the wrong section? :ohwell:

You certainly haven't failed in any of the efforts you have made so far - or the mindset that you took when you decided to change.

There is some great advice online about how to work out what you need to eat to loose/gain weight. The best advise I have been given was to work out my Basal Metabolic Rate and Total Daily Energy Expenditure. This is the link I was given to do this…

I've just had a look on your profile and can't tell your stats from your profile and understand if you choose not to share this with others. But I can see that you have been eating an average total of 1000 calories roughly for the last 4 days after deducting extra calories burnt through your gym effort. Anyone would be…

Nothing gets easier, you just get better ;) Take a rest day - you get better by resting, allowing yourself to recover, not by training. Use the time you would have spent in the gym today to look over your nutritional traits and see if there is anything that seems off or unbalanced. Stick with it :)

I'm 5'6" and remember being happy at 60kg previously but now I'm thinking that might be too little with the way that my weight is dropping and I have been loosing fat and building muscle.

Hi, I have completed 2 intro session, 4 fundamentals session across the last 2 weekends and have been going to the box to at least do something and get into going regularly. It is interesting to see how you use it to balance your lifestyle's. If you are looking for more friends or happy to guide a newb then please add me…

'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feel's' was stated by Kate Moss (the supermodel). However she was slated for saying this as it became a common slogan for pro anorexia websites. Just goes to show you the power of interpretation!

Love this  Also, 'The difference between try and triumph is a little 'umph'' 'Nothings gets easier, you just get better'

You sound just like me on a 'hard' day. I'd binge, feel sad, sleep, and do it all over again. Now I aim to sleep when I feel like overeating. I don't always overeat but when I do I know how to manage it and what i really need. Also, what did you wear yesterday/last week - the weight couldn't have come on overnight! If you…

Both - in my mind if I'm not working as hard at either then I am failing any goal
