I'm a chaotic good Halfling bard currently taking levels in ranger - IRL! So my main skills are Charm Tourist, Handle Truck, Knowledge Local/Nature/History, and when those fail, Bluff...

Another tabletop gamer here. I'm so dedicated I'm a ranger IRL! I usually play Pathfinder on Tuesdays, Traveller on Saturdays, and DM an obscure 1970s Dutch system about once a month.

What's wrong with you people? I love having curls! They're a big part of my identity, I'm afraid. Never straightened my hair, never plan to. Just because it's fashionable doesn't mean it looks better. I just can't use a blow dryer or it ends up looking like my profile pic, so washing requires a bit of advance planning, but…

I biked to work and back today, a round trip of 40km. And did it in just under 2 hours.

Went out for a long ride today - both my horse and I are getting much fitter. We did the canter up the hill twice (ok, one was a flat-out gallop, wheeee!) and trotted for 20 solid minutes at a stretch going home. And then, I went and rode a second horse and still had the leg strength for a 13km bike ride in the evening! My…

Ladies: check your stirrups! I had to adjust mine today - the barn owner pointed out that they weren't right anymore because my thighs are now smaller...

Exactly! I reward myself with food all the time. If I bike to work, I get Ben & Jerry's for dessert because it fits well within my calories then. Simple. Longer-term, though, I'm allowing myself to indulge in more impulse buys and major purchases, especially if they're things that will keep me active, though that's also a…

Yes, I totally don't get those people who claim it's not a "real" sport because all you do is sit there. It's good for both cardio and strength! Go Lily, but also go you! She didn't get there by herself, and you stuck with her even though she was difficult. Well done.

I've just put in an offer. He didn't say no - he said "I paid more for him than that" and went off to think about a counteroffer...

Hey, that's a great one! Congrats!

I feel your pain - so difficult to find clothes that fit! I'm 165 cm (5'4" ish) CW is 72 kg (159 lbs), down from 82 kg (181 lbs). GW is 60-65 kg (132-143 lbs). I seem to be losing mainly from the waist as well, current measurements are: Bust: 102 cm (41") Waist: 74 cm (29") Hips: 106 cm (42")

 Thanks. As my mother said, "let's face it, you're going to buy a horse sooner or later anyway - so why not this one?"

Today's horsey NSV: When I bought my body protector in December, I had to go with the large one because of my chest size, but the velcro at the waist barely covered the red bits. Now, the two straps almost meet in the middle - there's about an inch left between them. I've gotten used to wearing a body protector now and…

Indeed. And I just saw an ad yesterday for a yard 5 minutes from where I work that specifically says they have the facilities and experience for doing natural horsemanship (alas very rare in Ireland), so he might be moving as well...

It was significantly faster than 10 minutes, but that's because someone's life was at risk - I (luckily) don't usually have that kind of motivation! Really sore ankles today, though. I'd try just running and see how far I get, but it's not as easy to keep at it with an open end, if you know what I mean.
-
That sounds like a good plan - try them all until one is difficult.

Fingers crossed for your dad, Nessie! Today, I bought a new riding jacket - three sizes down from the last one! - then went and did ground work with the horse. And mucked out his stable completely, including lifting and washing under the rubber mats. Now to get around to spring cleaning my own bedroom...

Quick update: talked to some others in the barn who agree with me that this situation can't go on. But they think that I might be in with a chance of buying him - the owner is apparently strapped for cash. (I'm already paying the livery fees for the privilege of riding.) And since the bottom has fallen out of the market,…

It's 11:30 and all I've accomplished so far today was getting up - and halfway dressed. Not even had breakfast yet. But it's my day off, and I deserve a slow day. Yesterday, I helped prevent a suicide.
-
Hmmm, I don't know. Knowing me, I fear I might give up in frustration if I have to start all over! But maybe you're right.
-
Thanks - I suppose it's a lesson learned the hard way. If I can't buy him, I'm going to have to walk away. I can't keep paying money for the privilege of re-training their horse whenever they wreck it.
-
Yes, I will be doing my darndest to buy him off them. I'm not sure I'm ready for the commitment of owning a horse, but I refuse to stand idly by and let this happen.

I've just come back from a terrible evening with the horse. "The" horse, not "my" horse, because sadly, he belongs to somebody else. Somebody I need to get him away from, because I believe that horse is being abused. As some of you might know, I've been riding Jackson for a while, on loan, and have had plenty of problems…

I started a new job around the same time I got serious about trying to lose weight again, to coincide with that and a lot of other major changes in my life. So my coworkers don't know any different. I do get ribbed about not eating what the others do at gaming nights, though. It's really annoying. Luckily, our DM is also…

That's one reason I'm relucant to tell people I'm trying to lose weight...

Now I *should* be watching the rest of that last episode of Dr Who so I can go to bed, but instead I'm on Skype with my mother, watching horse videos and making character sheets for the cats. Sigh. I'll definitely need coffee to funtion at work tomorrow.
-
Hey, snap! I'm watching Dr Who and avoiding laundry as well.

Most of my jeans were getting too big, so today I went to a charity shop (=thrift store) and tried some in a size smaller than the usual. They were also too big. Eventually came home with two pairs of size 12s (US 8/10) - haven't worn those since I was a teenager! They're a little snug, but I'm working on it...

Yes, that's a good point. Unfortunately, he's a little ignorant on even the basics of dressage, and doesn't understand that leg on can mean anything other than "go faster", so I can't do shoulder-ins past scary stuff. We're working on it in lessons, though. Had a short hack out today - just me and him - and it was quite…

I generally just log all my barn chore time as "horse grooming", I assume it's more or less accurate.
