Agree with you about living in the PNW - "within hours of the mountains, oceans, and the most beautiful scenery in the country!" So true!

I use an app for my i-touch called lolo beatburn. Gives me a great workout and gradually increases the intensity. Check it out if you can use an app at: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/beatburn-treadmill-outdoor/id383811730?mt=8

Had a friend last year give me some good advice as far as walking outside in the PNW. He told me to invest in some rain gear :) I did, and before I had to stop due to an injury, I liked walking in the rain, not nearly as many people out and I could just enjoy the quiet.

Workout on a stationary bike since my ankle injury last June. Great suggestions already, only thing I would add is to make sure your shoes are not too tight and are good quality. Even on a bike your feet will swell when they get hot. Happy cycling!

Hello, my name is Kris and I am in the Willamette Valley in central Oregon in a very small town west of Corvallis. Moved to Oregon in 1989 from western Idaho and don't miss the ex-stream temp changes at all!

Such a long way we have come... such a long way we still must travel. Society has always sculpted how we view ourselves, what is accepted and what is not. There was a time when woman could not be seen in public if the were "with child". Thank goodness we have progressed to the point that we can now speak freely and debate…

I used to have severe shin pain (splints) when I walked. Make sure you do a good warm up and then a good stretch of the shin before you get into the workout and then a good stretch after you finish. Good shoes will also help, like the earlier post recommended, get fitted for good running shoes. Loads of info on the…

Great post Cindy. I think my wake up moment was my blood tests showing border line diabetes and border line high cholesterol. I had never had a problem with either before and that combined with my 54th birthday was a reality slap that I had to make changes in the way I was treating my body or the remainder of my life…

Have not done the C25K but can tell you it is probably not your smoking (congrats on quitting) but your lack of physical activity that has you slow to start. It will take a bit to get your aerobic base built up. Keep at it every day and in no time you will be off and running!

Just south of Portland Oregon by a few miles. You can still jog in the rain. Some even enjoy it more than when it is not raining. Just need rain gear.

I say do what you love to do because it is easier to stick with it. I started out walking. Just walked and increased my speed and distance. That along with healthy eating will work. I got an app for my i-touch called lolo beatburn and started to use it when I walked. It a great workout. I sprained my ankle 7 weeks ago and…
