  • I guess I spoke a little too much from personal experience. Almost all of the personal trainers that I've come across have been certified with the generic "box gym certification", which in my opinion is not enough. My view is probably skewed after hearing a personal trainer telling his client that the concept of energy…
  • Almost always, personal trainers are garbage. Have a good look at his credentials and his experience before signing up. I'd recommend someone with at least a degree in kin and/or nutritional sciences. Otherwise, most of the time they will put you in a terrible position for weightloss.
  • There shouldn't be any problem with him doing stronglifts 5x5. Weight training does not prevent one's ability to grow. However, it is important that you take into account that he is growing and his proportions might change. This might make it a bit more complicated for him to hit good form consistently. It would be very…
  • Hi Lenore! I guess the first thing I'd like to say is that I think it's absolutely awesome that you are trying to get in shape :). In terms of your questions let's see what I can do for ya :P... It is important to understand that the main concept of losing weight is "Calories in Vs. Calories out". Incorporating resistance…

Probably the most accurate way to go about weight loss OR gaining muscle* would be to measure religiously what you eat for a week or two while maintaining weight. They would help you increase your overall strength/conditioning for your strength training oppose to low intensity steady state cardio (assuming that you're going on the typical "light morning jogs"). In…
  • Why would you ever do this to yourself? There is no way this diet is healthy and just the mere fact that Dr.Oz is promoting it... ugh! I don't wanna come off as an A-hole (though I probably already have at this point hahah ;P), but do yourself a favor and pick a healthier to lose weight :)
  • Hey guys! :) Currently 21 and going into my 3rd year of Human Kinetics. I have a mad addiction to fitness and nutrition. Feel free to add and msg me :).
  • I think you just dropped your calories too fast and now ur metabolic rate has gone to crap. Go on a very slow bulk for a a couple of months and cut back down to 1200. I'd cut down about 150cal a week when ur back on ur cut. Go with very slow calorie increases each week. When I say slow, I mean SLOW. Add about 50 calories…
  • Yea!... Well I study there at least :P. Boring city, but a great place to concentrate on creating the best version of yourself :)
