  • My polar FT4 just told me I was at 100% of my heart rate! I licked the strap (please, who doesn't) and then my heart rate stayed at a steady 150-160bpm. How do you know when it's accurate though? I suppose I bought the HRM to motivate me to work out more, which it's doing and I've lost 3lb so far, so I guess it does work…
  • Said I was too skittish ;)
  • It's the only reason I go to see the ballet...
  • I knew someone who forced her overweight husband on a diet, and sent him to the Dr. He was healthy - his cholesterol was low, his heart was healthy, and he had no medical issues to speak of. She had herself tested as part of the deal – she was as skinny as a rake, but her cholesterol was sky high, and her blood pressure…
  • Can you just explain to your mum that you need the living room for one hour twice a week for some absolutely offensive dancing, and that unless she wants to risk losing an eye to some wayward arm movements, it's best to give you some privacy? I know I can't bring myself to workout in front of other people, so I clear out…
  • I love this method. Thank you for starting a thread! Just for today, I took it easy on myself. I worked hard to keep my chin up, questioned my cravings (turned out I was cold, not hungry) and went to a fitness class I didn't want to go to. Had so much fun, and found my motivation to come home and eat a salad. I even…
  • I too, have fallen off the wagon. I'm taking it one single day at a time. If I try to eat healthily - just for today, and if I try to fit in a little exercise then I find my moral and focus stays strong. When I start thinking about how far I have to go, that's when I start to wobble! - One day at a time! You can do it!
  • I was with you, then you lost me! Is there a video or tutorial explaining each move? I'm all for do anything to make workouts easier, especially if they help me towards my goal. Thank you for the advice :)
  • Chin ups are insane! You should all be so proud!
  • Wait, your chest is supposed to be helping?! Well, I never! Maybe that's where we're going wrong! I've seen a definite muscle increase in my arms since starting the kitchen counter routine, so it does help (even if I'm doing it slightly wrong) Off to find a youtube vid, methinks :o
  • Pfft. Show off ;) You'll be there before you know it. Your son will be heavier too, so more means for boasting!
  • That's awesome! I wish there were more lovely people out there who show that you don't go from 0-100 in one day - it takes time and practice!
  • No worries - I'll let you know when I get to 1! :p
  • LOL! I'd have to have reallllly long arms to do it with my feet on the counter!! I stand two floor tiles away from the kitchen counter, feet together. Hands in front of me, shoulder width apart, and then slowly lower my chest to the counter edge, back straight, and back to neutral. It was a challenge at first to do 10,…
  • Hence why I said HALF of one! People make push ups look so easy - they bob up and down like they were born to do it. But it's hard bloody going! The more you weigh, the harder the lift and for someone like me, it's a big sign of progress and a massive motivation to work on getting back up again!
  • Now to work on pushing myself back up again... :|
  • Oh, and my favourite "Where's that chocolate you bought? Eaten it all already, have you?" Just because that's something you do, doesn't mean I do the same, damnit!
  • Someone I know is obsessed with what they eat. They misplace their guilt onto other people all the time. Eating around them is becoming an uncomfortable experience that I've started dreading. If I've allowed for a small bag of baked corn crisps (less than 100 calories) I get comments like "oh that's healthy...NOT!" or "I…
  • This was the damn kindest, nicest thing I've heard. Oh, the feels. I might read this every day.
  • I've lost 16lbs with MFP but noticed it starting to creep back up! I'm not going to calorie count as I find it difficult to maintain in the long-term, although I will continue the healthy eating, and try to fit more consistent exercise in. I'd love to chat to some people who need a buddy! Feel free to add me :)
  • I'm waiting to be picked up for my Zumba class as I type this. Lately, I've been sweating buckets! But the DVDs at home barely touch the sides. Our instructor watches each person in the class, and if they're not sweating, they ramp it up! you just don't get that with a DVD

  • I don't just work out - sometimes I clean to it too! Rammstein, Van canto, Disturbed, led zeppelin, iron maiden we've been listening to a lot of Norwegian folk metal too :)
  • Stir fried anything! Today for lunch I'm having red pepper, mushrooms, onion, Chilli and spices. NOM NOM
  • Why don't you just forget the calories for a day, but practice self control instead? Drink plenty of water beforehand, eat a small salad or an apple, and then when the food arrives, you won't be shovelling it in faster than your stomach can handle, and remember to stop when you've had enough!
  • I feel, awesome! I lost all motivation, and clambered my way back onto the wagon and am fighting harder than before! i just had a delicious salad, and am going to enjoy nature in my own back garden!
  • Yes and no. I find you can eat more salad than you can cake. I hate being hungry, and love milking each calorie for everything it's worth. So if I can "cheat" my diet by stuffing myself on a hot tuna salad, or feel miserable nibbling one square of chocolate (for the same calories) I know which one I'd choose!
  • My other half works at KFC in the UK. When he comes home smelling like ear wax from the oil and grease, with rashes all over his hands from the special recipe, you find yourself not wanting it after a while. Best diet motivation ever!
  • No one deserves to be belittled or laughed at/about. Is it possible that he's making these jokes due to an insecurity? You're doing so well, and he could be worried that you're going to slim down and ship out. There's no excuse for being a jerk, but sometimes there is a reason. Sometimes.
  • I guess I just panic when I realise how few calories 1200 is, and when I earn so much back from exercise, I'm cautious about eating any more than 3/4 of it. My BMR is set to sedentary, as I work as a graphic designer and sometimes forget to finish my coffee, let alone walk around. The 900 or so calories is MFP combining…
  • Weigh in Dates: Start of Month13.5 7/04/14 - 13.6 put on a lb, but lost up to 1 1/2 inches! Need to ramp up the zumba, and lose a dress size!
