  • You could find a Greens Plus supplement with zero added sugar and try that out. I found that the the powder you mix with water is better than the pill form. Also gives you lots of vitamins and I find it seriously boosts my energy.
  • I'm 5'0 and medium framed. My goal measurements are 34-24-34. Currently I'm 35-28-38. I'm hoping not to lose all my chest... but that's generally part of the package deal when you lose weight :( My goal weight is set to 110, but once I hit my measurements I will be focused on toning up rather than losing more weight.
  • Low-carb is a bad word on here... If you are looking at is a lifestyle change, go for it. If you are looking at it as a diet, steer clear. Noone knows your body better than yourself. Research what will work best for you and your ailments.
  • SW: 137.4 CW: 131.2 GW: 110 Weigh in Dates: 2/1: 137.4 2/8: 134.6 2/15: 133.0 2/22: 2/28: End of Month (or whatever weigh in days you use) Total weight loss: 4.4 Today I'm actually 131.2, for a total of 6.2 lbs this month. My secret, 17 day diet along with the Insanity workout program. What I would do next time... do phase…
  • Hey Brandon, I would suggest an iPhone app or the system you can buy that worked awesome for me training for a marathon, but it can be used to just improve whatever you got going for you right now. It's the Adidas miCoach. There's so many different programs on there to get you to run faster, further, harder! I first bought…
  • Stick to low sugar fruits too, a banana has significantly higher sugar than an apple or mixed berries.
  • Have you ever added dill pickles to your tuna... It's one of my favourites Cucumbers sliced up in vinegar 1 whole egg & 2 egg whites either hard boiled or poached 1 cup berries blended with 3/4 cup 0% plain greek yogurt (add some stevia, vanilla & cinnamon) Taco salad made with lettuce, whatever other veggies you want…
  • An apple has around 20 grams of carbs, a cup of berries has around 20 grams of carbs... Is your doctor telling you to cut back on ALL carbs including natural fruit? Because you should be "allowed" to have a couple low sugar fruit a day? No? In which case I would just eat your smoothie as long as it's made with plain yogurt…
  • What are you making your smoothies from?
  • Agreed! The 17 day diet is a great "diet" that will leave you feeling full and will eliminate carb cravings.
  • I prefer positive reinforcement :) You are worth it! You can do it! Every action you make today counts towards you end result! Google an image of this quote: "Don't give up what you want most for what you think you want today." Print it out, save it as your desktop on your computer, make it your home screen on your phone,…
  • Bunk pseudo science crap? Sorry, are you a doctor? You do understand that protein metabolizes differently in your body than say an apple right? Just as a big mac will metabolize differently than a salad... And that everyone's bodies are different? Some people aren't so lucky as to be able to just run a calorie deficit,…
  • I think you should read up on the diet before you make assumptions... But even so, if I am losing water weight, I'm a woman, I can afford to lose some bloody water weight. 2 inches off my waist, and my jeans already feeling loser, what's not good about that? And I'm not starving myself, definitely not running a 1700…
  • Before quick judgments are made... Read up on the 17 day diet before you make assumptions. My aunt lost 80 pounds, my mother 40 pounds, my cousin 20 pounds, and I know many other people... And have kept it off for over a year now. They all look amazing. There is a maintenance phase in the diet (Phase 4) that is for after…
  • I would suggest the 17 day diet! You can easily lose 10 pounds in 3 weeks and you are not starving yourself, it's all based on what you are eating. It's lots of lean protein and veggies (as much as you can eat really), couple low sugar fruits a day, couple servings of healthy fats and couple servings of probiotics. I'm…
  • Your health and body should be your top priority, you are worth it! Make it happen and you will never regret it.
  • If you are really serious about losing weight... Limit yourself to two fruit a day (replace the other servings of fruit you were eating with veggies). Low sugar fruits include grapefruit, apples, berries... the highest sugar fruits include bananas and grapes... And you could make homemade dips instead of sweet and sour…
  • I would suggest trying a diet that will trick your body into losing weight rather than just running a calorie deficiency... like the 17 day diet. I have issues with weight loss also. I could be training for a marathon and running a calorie deficit each day and the scale will not budge even after several months. I have to…
  • Advil, epsom salt bath followed by lots of A535 slatthered on! I have also found swimming after a hard leg workout helps me from having really sore muscles the next day too.
  • Or Sworkit is a free download from apple if he has an iPod touch, iPhone or iPad. Great app for circuit training. Many different workout options on it.
  • When I was a teenager my mom put me in boxing at a local boxing club. Amazing workout and high discipline. The guy charged 40 bucks a month and ran it out of his garage. She never let me actually spar, but I trained with the rest of them. Never felt like working out but the fitness level I achieved during this time was top…
  • Don't be worried. The 220-age factor is as accurate as a BMI calculator... There's a running test you can do too: Warm up for 5 mins. Sprint as fast as you can around a track or on a treadmill (0 incline) for three minutes. Jog for 2 minutes. Then sprint again as fast as you can for 3 minutes. Your max heart rate will be…
  • And does your heart rate go back down to normal quickly after you are finished?
  • How long have you been running for? I'm not quite sure how the couch to 5K works... A rule I learned a while ago is to never increase your distance by more than 10% a week to avoid injury. I've used miCoach to train which has good programs and will warn you if your goals are overzealous. As long as you don't have a heart…
  • I always make sure I have packages of high protein meal replacement shakes with a blender bottle and protein bars that are not high cal (and that meet my 40% Protein, 40% Carb and 20% Fat goal) everywhere I go. This way if a meeting or my errands run longer than I expected I can have a quick meal rather than run to a…
