I am underage...lol! Can I still hang out?

Ha! You specifically said you were not looking for folks to critique your diet, and yet here they are critiquing! Well, I won't. I feel great when I eat oatmeal for breakfast. It keeps me full for a long time. I put on a wide variety of toppings but right now I am into dried blueberries, a little brown sugar and a splash…

If only it were that simple. Calorie deficit is where it is at, true, BUT many factors come into play for that "last 10 pounds." If you experience intense hunger, it is difficult to create that deficit. That is your body telling you to stop dieting (at least for awhile). Or if you plateau despite eating the same amount…

Think about what you are saying, people! "Why do something halfway to reduce your chance of disease?" Well, have you ever decided to "cut back" on sugar, trans fat, or any other unhealthy food? How about an unhealthy behavior? Have you ever decided to get more sleep or reduce your stress level for your health? Did you set…

I'm a dietitian and I work a lot with patients who cannot keep their weight up and/or need to gain weight. High fat foods are a go-to because they can be highly nutritious and they are high in calories compared to other foods. And no, you should not avoid these foods if you are trying to lose or maintain. Just watch your…

As a I am a Registered Dietitian/ licensed nutritionist, Nancy Clark is on my bucket list of people to meet. Or at least take one of her sports nutrition classes. Glad you gained some perspective on things. I am def going to look into that extra calories during menstration thing! But if Nancy Clark said it, I tend to…

Well you are obviously beautiful before and after, but what a transformation! Thanks for sharing this inspiring story.

Sounds like self-sabotage. It happens ALL THE TIME. There is nothing wrong with you and there are actual, physiological things that happen in your body that cause this. You need to be able to access "the back of your mind" and tell it to get on board. I was doing this FOREVER! I am on a great path now, and what has helped…

If you lose too fast, you risk gaining it all back and more, and developing some pretty nasty disordered eating patterns in the process. There are real, scientific, physiological reasons why this is so. The heavier a person is, the more they can lose because it is more about the percentage of your total body weight you are…

Hi Hun, I am a dietitian. I would agree that it sounds like you are not eating enough. Weight loss is a delicate balance. Starve yourself too hard and it will all backfire on you. If you get much activity at all, 1200 cals is not enough. 1200 MAY be ok if you are sedentary (not recommended :)), if you eat back your…

Pretty honest of you to put that out there. A lot of people have judged you. I have to admit that what you posted sounds pretty f''d up. But I think any of us might feel that way if we let ourselves. Change your focus. Ask yourself "what stregths does he have that got him there?" ADMIRE THEM! Then ask yourself "What…

Also let me see your journal.

These are definitely signs of overtraining and/or not enough calories. How much do you weigh currently, and how tall are you? How intense and long are your workouts? I would be happy to help if you give me these numbers.

So inspiring! Thanks for posting!

Hey, Darlin,' congrats on the weight loss! I am a Registered Dietitian, Personal Trainer, and Body Pump instructor. Everyone has a different body shape, so a six-pack is harder to acheive for some then others. Where do you carry most of your weight? In your butt/thighs, or your stomach? Depending on your body SHAPE you may…

I just have to say, I LOVE EVERYTHING about your post! The fact of the matter is, different things work for different people. I like to count the calories, and see the number to know that I am right on track, even if I have an occasional treat. You said it all perfectly, way to go!!!

Add me! I have been getting on everyday, and I will continue to comment to my friends at least a couple times per week. :)

EXACTLY! As a Registered Dietitian, and Personal Fitness Trainer, I could not agree more.

OH gosh it is so nice to see all the responses. I have been logging on MFP on and off for a year, but put on weight since starting work full time 6 months ago. 12 pounds may not seem like much to lose, but it feels daunting. I have been too embarrassed to put anything on here, because "I should know what to do," but the…
