I would look into a nutritionist. I work in healthcare and do not advocate for WebMD, there are too many variables from person to person and people don't know what to look for. Talk with someone who is an expert on nutrition, I'd ask friends and family if there is anyone they recommend. Just make sure that person has the…

I usually do a protein shake in addition to my breakfast. It sounds strange but stay with me for a second, I do 4oz of chicken (I prepare it for a week and add chicken to breakfast and lunch), lately I have been doing sliced turkey though. Anyway so I do meat, a yogurt usually and then a protein shake. I eat a higher…

I eat about 1500-1600 cal a day. I have lost about a lb/week on average. MFP told me if I ate like yesterday I'd be at 157. something in 5 weeks and being 161.2 this morning that fits to about lb/week. It's working for me. One last thought, if your clothes are fitting better and you're losing inches I say screw the scale!

I agree, call the mom. That is a very frustrating situation. Hope everything works out for you and your daughter.

I agree with her. This is an issue for medical professionals. Though wtg on 40lbs!

I have a Garmin without the GPS for running since I run mostly on a treadmill. Mine was $140 after tax but I LOVE it. I started with a Sportline watch from Walmart for about $27, it was okay but when you are working out hard it doesn't read well. That might be a decent one to start at. A good HRM is a great investment,…

" Some things you don't have to give up, sex and coffee are two" I couldn't agree more!

You can do it! It does get easier. I don't have a child yet but my dog and I have gotten into a routine of getting up in the mornings and going for a half mile walk. I remember working out with my mom when I was little, maybe your son would want to be active with you and that might help with the activity increase. I feel…

I love my HRM but it was a gift so I wouldn't push anyone to buy one as they are expensive. It's tricky but if you calculate your own HR every few minutes while working out and take an average there are online calculators which can help you more accurately measure your calories burned in your workout. The website I use…

I would disagree about them being inaccurate, the chest strap is the most accurate they can get. Though with mine if it's not quite tight then the reading is tempermental. Perhaps adjust your strap so it sits more tightly across your chest. Look at your owners manual about cleaning the electrodes as well, sweat and dead…

In case you weren't being sarcastic, that's Tebow, the Bronco phenomenon sweeping the NFL.

19 pounds by 7-01-12. I am down 3lbs in 2 months. I've had eating problems in the past and I've found a healthy balance by doing weight loss very slowly and giving myself enough calories so I can have treats at work.

MFP is way better with friends. I'll add you and from my monthish on here it works, even on not so good days.

I tried 1200 calories and I would go over every day, I've increased my calories to 1800, I'm losing weight very slowly but I never go over and I always have extra. It also helps me because I used to have an eating disorder and not feeling "stuck" (even though no on sets my limits but me) has helped keep MFP experience…
