  • We spend about $300-400 a month for me, my fiance and our son. I shop at aldi for pantry/baking supplies, deli meat, cheese, milk and yogurt, and I shop at wegmans for the rest. Most of our veggies are frozen since wegmans 1lb bags are usually $1 so we always keep broccoli, green beans, corn, peas and mixed veg on hand.…
  • You can always have your doctor run blood levels on some vitamins like vitamin D...but I will say this, I worked as a family practice nurse for 2 years, and in that 2 years I've only ONCE ever had to call someone and say "you need to stop taking in any source of vitamin D because your levels are too high!" For most people…
  • I used to be a die-hard diet soda fan as my mom switched our sodas to diet when I was 12/13. I almost never drank regular soda unless I was splitting one at the movies with my boyfriend. However, I stopped drinking it while pregnant, as my OB advised against artificial sweeteners, and when I tried drinking them again after…
  • Incredibly overpriced, however for whatever reason I do have less cravings and more energy when I drink it daily. I really have no clue why. I bought it discounted with a challenge pack over the summer and it was about three weeks in when I realized I hadn't craved ice cream or sweets in weeks, which is odd for me. I don't…
  • I just went grocery shopping last night and non-organic was $3.49. They were a very good size though.
  • My mom jumped on the "gluten bandwagon" at the advice of Dr Oz, which caused a huge eye roll from me. However, we did notice that the sinus issues she had for decades (frequent infections every 2-3 months) completely disappeared along with this annoying throat clearing/reflux thing she had done in the two and a half…
  • Im losing weight for my wedding, but I was already trying to lose weight anyway. I was 135 when my fiance and I met (I was a little too slim for my build and I was still in an eating disordered pattern). I was 145 and toned when I found out I was pregnant Nov 2012. I gained 50lbs pregnant, and after the immediate weight of…
  • I'm in the same boat, only the opposite. I have lost a little bit of weight and only seem to be losing from my torso and not my lower body. I am a pear shape. I was told to just keep at it. Your body may seem to lose a little more from one area or another before you really see changes in another area, but keep at it and it…
  • "I work out for an hour everyday and eat 1200 calories a day and I don't lose weight." A friend told me that once at the gym...she was on the elliptical going at a snails pace because she "doesnt like to sweat" and on the way out got cheetos and a juice from the vending machine....
  • I should also add, being honest with my friends and family has helped too. When we have family get togethers and they try to send me off with plates of leftover desserts or whatnot, I have to actually come out and say "thanks, but no thanks. Whatever amount I take home will be eaten in one sitting. I can take one piece…
  • Not sure if OP is still reading this...but here is my 2cents. I've had an eating disorder since I was 12. I am 25 now and although I am probably considered "recovered" or "in recovery" I still struggle. Most of my time with an eating disorder was with bulimia and my binging/purging was so bad that I left college because of…
  • I was considering adding in a CLA supplement for a little bit (my moms sells one and will let me use her discount). I'm not sure if I want to spend the money though. I have been changing my diet being very active, but as weight loss has been my whole life, I lose so much weight on the top half of my body before I lose an…
  • anything about "starvation mode"
  • Weigh everything. Stick to your calorie goals. Get a good burn at the gym or at home (or wherever you can) 5-6 days a week for 30-60mins a day (wear a HRM to see what you are burning). If you have done all of this for a month and STILL there is no change (and I mean REALLY stuck to this for a month then get your…
  • I get a lot of my cooking recipes on pinterest or on the groups facebook page. There are a lot of blogs that have recipes and what approximate containers are for that recipe. Its not exact I will agree with that, but I think not being 100% perfectly precise is why it works for me. I had an eating disorder for a long…
  • I'm on day 4. its been an eye-opener to me as well, as others were saying. I definitely over-eat cheese and healthier options like avocados, and I dont realize how much ice cream and processed snacks I was eating until I had to not eat them! I actually had trouble having ONLY 3 veggies and 4 proteins (I eat 3c veggies just…
  • very expensive personal trainers/nutritionists, and the a good hair/makeup person to hide any paleness/etc. Photoshop for the icing on the cake
  • 5'6 157lbs....15.5"
  • Most of our patients noticed a bigger change the second month they were on it, if it worked for them at all
  • Blood pressure can be different different times of the day and affected by caffeine, if you ate higher sodium, if you smoked, if you were stressed etc. If you are getting regular readings of 140/90 or 135/90 you should examine your diet. Sodium, cigarettes, inactivity and obesity are the most common reasons for bp being…
  • I refuse to make multiple meals at a time. Its something I won't do as I don't want that behavior modeled for my kids. I usually will plan to eat higher cal at dinner, and lower cal the other meals. I will serve a salad and a veggie so I can fill my plate, and will only put butter/salt on his servings. There are a few…
  • I really loathe "ideal" weight charts, I really and truly do. According to those charts, my ideal weight is somewhere between 130-134lbs. I've weighed 130-134 pounds before. I simultaneously thought half a sweet potato and a serving of sugar free jello with a diet coke was enough food for the day and I used to make myself…
  • Why does it have to be one of the above? It can be very uncomfortable doing workouts and looking and seeing guys with their eyes glued to parts of your body. If I looked like a fitness model, with the humility of mother theresa and thought all men could do no wrong, I would STILL feel awkward about being stared at in the…
  • Are you taking any other measurements besides your weight? I only ask because for instance I have only lost a quarter of a pound or so in the last few weeks, but I've lost a good 2-3 inches. If you are adding in strength training you may be retaining water and/or building muscle which weighs more than fat.
  • I had that same sort of feeling when I had an eating disorder. I am not saying that you have one, but you could be heading towards a very bad relationship with food. I like to watch portion sizes and the like as well, but when I notice that my heart races a little bit when I put 11 baby carrots on my plate instead of 10, I…
  • I have it set to 1lb a week, I did notice I lost 1.5 lbs this past week, despite eating like 3200cals a day last sat and sunday. And I never thought about lack of sleep! Good points to consider!
  • Ask OB for help. You shouldn't be doing this without strict medical supervision. I know some ladies in my birth club were put on gestational diabetes diets to help their sugars and also to control how much weight they were putting on while pregnant, but those diets were figured out by their OB. You can also add in some…
  • There's a youtube channel called Lionsgatebefit. They have a 30 Day Butt Lift video series. Its free, no video is longer than 10mins and they have a calendar to show when you do what workouts!
  • I dont own a scale, so i always weigh in at the Y before my 930 workout class on wednesdays. There may be some fluctuations, but I figure since I'm doing it consistently, its not a big deal.
