I had to buy slacks a size smaller last week. Someone at work mentioned to me yesterday that they can tell that I'm losing weight. :)

Enjoy it. My wife & I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago. We both enjoy it a lot. I swim before work and we go together a couple times a week. They even have a nursery for our toddler to play in while we work off the pounds. I hope we all stay committed.

I'd start with body-weight exercises: Push-up, crunches, squats, lunges, handstands (against a wall) and slowly move towards handstand push-ups. After a couple of weeks of that, move into weights/machines. Doing 2-3 sets of 12 - 15 reps (where the last 2-3 reps are a considerable effort) of your basic moves (bench, curls,…

SammieWammie, I understand your eagerness to lose weight and be successful at it. I have tried the diet pills, and I'd bet many others who have answered have too. We don't take them any longer because they simply don't work. They may appear to work in the short term, because of diuretic or stimulate effects, but they don't…

52 yo with a toddler. Need energy ASAP. Feel free to add me, anyone.

Winners don't wait to see who's coming with them. Go for your goals and let others follow you if they want. Set the example. Be the leader.

SW: 260 CW: 234 GW: 180. All weight lost thanks to help from MFP and encouragement of friends on here and steady moderate exercise. Good luck. Just remember: You didn't gain the weight overnight, so don't expect to lose it overnight. Slow & steady (1.5 - 2 pounds per week) wins the race. You can do it.

SW: 260 CW: 235 GW: 180 People first started to notice after 20-pounds lost. Then more & more started noticing after I started wearing new clothes that were a size or two smaller. Warmer weather is coming. The sweatshirts & sweaters will soon be replaced with short-sleeves and shorts.

I have 55 more pounds until I reach my goal. Does that count ?
-
I have 55 more to go. Is that good enough?

I think I sent an add request to everyone above me. If I missed anyone, let me know. Anyone below, feel free to add me. Let's shed some pounds!

The more thumbs up for meeting calorie/exercise/weight loss goals, the better! Add me too!

After getting dressed this morning I soon realized I needed to tighten my belt a notch more than usual.

Yes. They'll notice. It may not appear to be 50 lbs, but they'll notice. I had to lose nearly 25 lbs before anyone asked, "Hey are you losing weight?" Keep going. They'll notice and it will feel good.

* Always leave a little bit of food on the plate. Throw it away! This will start telling your mind, "I don't need that much food." * Throw out all unhealthy snacks (I donate my unopened ones to a food bank). Replace them with carrots, celery, sliced peppers, etc. Healthy snacks (raw fruit & veggies) are not so bad to…

Your son is one of the biggest motivations. Look at him and think about all the fun things you're going to do with him as he grows older: site seeing, walks through a park, amusement parks, playing in the yard, the pool or beach, etc. I have a toddler who loves to go on walks. Pushing his stroller uphill (huffing &…

I felt my best when I was between 175 - 180 pounds. I was very athletic at 175 and ran many road races (even a marathon). However, I'd settle for 180 again. That's my goal.

Yeah, Icefloes, grad school can put weight on a person. Now it's time to put the degree to use and lose those pounds. :) :) :) :)
-
Me too. Been gone for over 2 years. Thankfully I was at the same weight as when I left. It's time to get serious again. No more bad food. No more being lazy for days at a time.
-
I hear you! I was gone for a while too. My wife & I are back at and aim to lose 30+ pounds too. Remember weight loss is a matter of daily choices. You can do this!

Like Karen said, " You will lose weight if you're watching the calories and exercising 3 - 5 times a week. Drink plenty of good, old fashioned water - especially first thing in the morning and following a workout. I plateaued for a month with no changes whatsoever, but I kept on the plan. I changed my workouts so that I…

I prefer the simple easy to read timepiece. My favorite was a $40 Timex which was very bland with a plain, black strap. I understand that the fancier, more expensive watches may be desired, but I like it simple.

I'm sure you'll do fine. There's much support & advice to be found here. I'm not much help on the medical issues, but I'll always send a smile your way. Feel free to add me as a friend.

OH.... and for a word of encouragement......(and bragging on my part) In January, the jeans I'm wearing now didn't even come close to fitting. Now they're actually a bit loose. You're going to be saying the same thing about your jeans in a few months!!!!! :drinker:
