I'm pretty sure you can be in a situation where 1200 isn't remotely healthy for you without being "Significantly Overweight." You could have a high muscle mass, you could be tall, you could have a naturally high metabolism... any of those things could raise your TDEE to a point where 1200 is TOO LITTLE. Saying that 1200 is…

My primal-eating friend disdomnu has set me straight, with some documentation regarding how that this can in fact be done safely, twice a week is a bit much he says, but not overkilly dangerous, so I'll retract my comment and apologize. It sounded like a drastic measure to take for someone already inside the healthy range,…

I can only assume that they are not of a height or build where 1200 is remotely healthy for them, and had to be convinced rather hard that that was not the case for them, and are trying to pay it forward... like a person who has to give up alcohol because they are an alcoholic, but rather than recognizing that there are…

There's nothing flipping magical about it, sarcasm not needed. I know darn well I'm 400 calories under TDEE, where the computer put me, supposedly loosing at a weight of 0.8 lbs a week. Not everyone who the computer puts at 1200 is at a huge deficit or trying to loose 2lbs a week. Get it thru your heads!

Sure it is. Once again, I wonder why there's this idea that everyone on 1200 is doing radical dieting. It depends on the size of your frame and on your current weight. I'm mini-sized. Not twiggy skinny. I'm short, narrow shouldered, and I'm only carying 20lbs extra weight, and that's what the thing recommended to me and it…

Where are people setting this "per week" thing? I just told it how much I weigh now, and how much I want to, and the thingy decided I'm going to loose 0.8lbs a week.... I didn't decide that. It's an awfully strange number to pick, but I'll suppose it defaults to 1lb per week, but got stopped by the 1200 limit... *shrugs.*…

Are the folks who are having problems going to 1200 manually, or is that what they're being recommended? If manually, there's the problem. The recommendations are there to make sure you don't go into starvation mode....

Healthy like 22 BMI. I'm quite a bit shorter than you and my doctor would FREAK if I was trying to get own to only 108 pounds.

Fasting that frequently isn't good for you... and isn't 120 already the healthy weight for 5 foot 4?

It told me I can only have 1200, and I've only been doing it for three days, but it hasn't been that hard to figure out what to eat since there are sooooo many meals that are in the 3-400 calorie range. It probably helps that that's more than enough for me to feel full in a day. I'm only 20lb over where I should be... I…
