  • Love it - I am returning to MFP (again) with plans to make a positive change this year. I had already decided on 1 pound/week then found this group - it's meant to be! Starting weight: 299.8 Goal weight (2017): 247.8 Current weight: 299.8 Total weight lost: 0 This week's successes: I said I going to sign up and I did! This…
  • What are your protein sources that keep you within calorie goals? I like Carnation protein drinks because it gives me 10g of refreshing/cold protein but it is 240 calories. I cannot have drinks where soy it the main ingredient so my protein drink choices are limited.
  • Yesterday was a good start to August. My normal life is more than sedentary so my goal is minimum 4000 steps a day. I don't really care how I get the steps, at this point it's about the number reflecting increased activity and less time sitting at my desk. Aug 1 - 4340 steps (1.23 mi). These steps reflect walking the…
  • Would like to join this thread. I have at least 100 pounds to lose. In the last three years I lost 40 pounds (during chemo) and regained the dang weight after treatment ended! I am so frustrated. I promised myself I would keep the weight off and keep losing, but no.... I just gained it all back. My knees are in pain from…
  • Oh - and I have to fly across country next week and I am already dreading it! Airplane seats are not comfortable, the seat belt does not fit. the tray table does not go down cuz of my big belly. Oh - belly. So I just posted that I had a double mastectomy so don't have to worry about the boob sweat. BUT..... now my belly…
  • Too funny. As I read through this very long list, I can relate to many items. Boob sweat makes me smile. One of the benefits of a double mastectomy - no more boob sweat! Now that is a silver lining!!!!
  • I am not even close to goal weight but this thread motivated me to register for Relay for Life in June. Thanks for the motivation - I live a sedentary life but now I have to get busy so I can make it around the track more than once. It's only one lap at a time.
  • You look great. You'll find the perfect weight for you. Maybe you will gain/lose a few pounds but you if you feel good then turn a deaf ear. My sister recently lost quite a bit of weight. I struggle with it because I am jealous! In reality, she is more confident and in better physical shape than she has been for many, many…
  • Joining for May - I have a lot to lose but 5 pounds is a good goal. I'm 60, have knee pain due to cancer meds, and have a sedentary job. My goal for May is to get more active. Cardio 3 times a week Steps - > then 5000 daily, more as the month progresses Strength 3 times a week One healthy choice a day It's a start (again)
  • Last year I supported my sister in Susan G Komen 3day/60 mile walk and the ACS Relay for Life walk. This year, as a breast cancer survivor, my goal is to walk WITH her in the Relay for Life walk.
  • Love to hear that you are a 12 year survivor! I am almost 3 years out. I'm looking forward to the 5 year mark and really hoping for the 10 year mark. Hearing 12 years is encouraging - thank you for posting.
  • The turning point for me is when I had a double mastectomy. Now my belly really sticks out. Adding to that is the need to eat healthy and exercise as the first line of defense in fighting cancer. Right now there is no evidence of disease and I want to do my part to keep it that way.
  • Lymphedema - - argh. I have lympedema in my right (primary) arm. It is aggravated by heat, humidity, repetitive action, and now cold. It's a bear - no cure, only treatment. I have learned to manage lymphedema very well on my own but it is always a consideration when embarking on any activity. I spent a day shopping and had…
  • I don't have trick to keep fruit fresh - I'm throwing out fruit today. Makes me mad but I can't see buying one apple at a time.
  • Overate yesterday but I knew I would. My parents (80's) took me for birthday dinner at a local restaurant. I knew I would have fried chicken but I did choose a salad as one of the sides. My goal is one healthy choice a day - yesterday I had two. I ate right in the morning and saved some calories for dinner and even had…
  • I weigh every morning. I almost always see a gain when I don't get my water in the day before - that reminds me water is important. For me - I have lymphedema (post breast cancer) so sometimes a weight gain tells me I need to do more arm care to get rid of fluid. I can't always trust the a few pounds +/- are due to eating…
  • I am grateful to work from home. It affords me the opportunity to be near by for my parents, it cuts down on clothing costs (work in my jammies most of the day), I don't drive on snowy roads to get to work, my coffee is made just like I want, I start and finish when I want (but I work too long). It's all good. I was mildly…
  • Yes, one of the 'side effects' of Tamoxifen and Aromatase Inhibitors (Femara, Aromasin, etc) is weight gain. Just another hurdle in the grand scheme. Not sure I really notice the difference as weight has always been a challenge for me. History, age, and meds combine to make it interesting.
  • I am a BC Survivor. Diagnosed March 2011, finished chemo and rads March 2012. Lost 30 pounds during treatment but I gained that weight back (plus some). I met with a new oncologist yesterday and am dealing with the harsh realization that my only 'tools' to fight breast cancer are diet and exercise. Guidelines recommend…
  • Looking to join a group where I can find encouragement to stay motivated and lose some weight. Today is my birthday. I am a breast cancer survivor, finished the chemo and radiation. Proper diet and exercise are now my only 'tools' to continue the fight against cancer. I have struggled with weight most of my life and I'm…
  • I had a complete hysterectomy in 2005. Lost 20 pounds in the seven weeks following surgery. Walking on the treadmill was a good activity to regain strength and promote healing. Found eating healthy during that time helped me feel better faster (imagine that). It was all good.
