  • I drink an ungodly amount of diet soda. My dentist would love me if I quit. Bad for my teeth, but hasn't hindered my weight loss one bit - 82 pounds down in a year and counting.
  • I lost 80 lbs in a year eating a serving of greek yogurt every day, plus cheese, milk, ice cream et al. So long as it fit in my calorie limit, it was all good. Now a single person doesn't a pattern make, but it didn't inhibit my weight loss that I could see.
  • Body pump is listed as a cardio activity. Search for it and it should pop up. I've been logging it as such for a year.
  • Thank you for all the kind notes. I do accept friends requests, but please include a note along with it.
  • My whovian progress pics: Top 2 pictures - Peter Davison, Colin Baker and Paul McGann, aka the 5th, 6th and 8th Doctors Then Matt Smith (who was in Minneapolis for Wizard World) and Sophie Aldred, aka Ace And at the bottom, Noel Clarke, Billie Piper and Camille Coduri, aka Mickey, Rose and Jackie. Come join us at Chicago…
  • I am 3 days away from my one year MFP-avesary. The before pictures were what finally woke me up - I knew I was overweight, but the chubby girl in my head wasn't anywhere near as fat as I was in real life. 362 days of hard work, 80 lbs down. I'd like to lose a bit more, but I've shifted into a maintenance mindset. Losing…
  • Fancy schmancy comparison collage :D
  • Ok folks, this is it, my ultimate whovian progress photo. Taken exactly one year apart, the Friday after Thanksgiving. 205 lbs on the top, 125 lbs below. Bonus picture of my Moment cosplay in May vs. today, 165 vs. 125. Now, maybe lose a little bit more, but definitely will keep it off!
  • $8 Calvin Klein dress from Goodwill
  • Goodwill. I go to my favorite one every weekend and dig through the rack to find nice articles of clothing. Half my work clothes are now Banana Republic and Ann Taylor, something that I never had before I lost weight. And then when they get to be too big, into a box they go, back to Goodwill to be donated, for a nice tax…
  • I went to the gym for years and lost no weight. I biked 15 miles a day summer of 2013 and gained weight. Why? I ate too much. Simple as that.
  • Listen to bigfinish.com audio adventures of Doctor Who. If you haven't listened to Big Finish, you're missing out. Currently in the midst of the Eighth Doctor's adventures with Lucie Bleedin Miller, prepping to listen to Dark Eyes 3, which was just released today.
  • With those calories, what does MFP tell you you would lose in a week if you stick to 1340 calories? 3/4 of a pound a week? If so, you're eating at or around maintenance, so your weight will stay pretty much the same. If you're having a hard time, eat at 1500 calories for a week. Then the next, move it down to 1450, then…
  • Why wouldn't you be able to work out in yoga pants? Every 3rd person at the gym is wearing yoga pants. If they're baggy and you're using exercise machines where it might get stuck, that would be one thing, but no, yoga pants original purpose was to be worked out in.
  • Everyone will tell you something different. I personally love designer whey gourmet chocolate, mixed with pb2, a banana and no fat plain greek yogurt.
  • You're short and you're close to your goal weight, so unless you're super active, you're going to have to get by on eating fewer calories than taller people who have more to lose unfortunately. IMHO as a fellow short person at roughly the same weight, now that you've tightened up your logging by measuring and weighing in…
  • When I started my MFP about a year ago, I was doing a mix of strength and cardio. During the summer with the nice weather, lifting fell to the wayside as I enjoyed taking long bike rides outside. And now, here I am with snow on the ground, at my goal weight, and oh so very very flabby. SoI'm back in the gym lifting…
  • If you can have the rational conversation with yourself that, "self, you are going to eat at maintenance for these days, and then after that, we're right back on track," then go for it. I will usually have a few days each month were I eat at maintenance or above, due to traveling, visiting family and/or special days. I…
  • 5'1.3 SW: 205 Initial GW: 130 - picked when I had no idea what it would look like, but hey, 75lbs would be a nice number to aim for. I hit this last week. CW: 128.2 Final goal weight - ???? I'm thinking 115 or 120, but I'd be happy as a size 4-6. Currently a size 8.
  • Weight fluctuates naturally up and down a few pounds a day. Some people can flucuate 5-10 pounds within a few hours. Totally natural and normal. Stop panicking.
  • If I am preparing food at home, I do. Just finished a big pot of kale sausage lentil stew. Weighed each ingredient as it went in. Weighed individualized portions, and now have 10 ready to eat 303 calorie bowls of soup in the freezer. It took maybe an extra 5 minutes of my time. Been doing it for 11 months and having great…
  • Are you hoping to crash diet, lose lean muscle mass, crash and burn and then regain it all back, plus more? Because that's what your plan will get you. Make sustainable lifestyle changes you can do for the rest of your life, learn to log accurately and aim to lose 2 lbs a week. I've lost and gained 10-20 lbs at a time,…
  • I have absolutely 0 plans to stick to my calorie limit on Thanksgiving. I will probably eat less than I have in the past, simply because I'm used to eating less and feel full sooner than I used to. But I fully plan to heap my plate full of stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and gravy and enjoy every single…
  • Not a diet food, but one I have started to incorporate more in my every day life is plain no fat greek yogurt. It packs a huge wollup of protein for a paltry number of calories, so it keeps me full without dinging the calorie budget. It can be sweet - added to a protein smoothie, or savory. I just had a potato with 3/4 of…
  • If you don't already have one, get a digital scale and weigh how much peanut butter and nutella you're using. It's very easy to underestimate when you're spooning it on. You may have even more than 600 calories in the sandwich.
  • Month's goal: 400 miles 10/2: 22.3 miles 10/5: 28.5 miles 10/6: 24.1 miles 10/7: 29.6 miles 10/8: 29.6 miles 10/9: 24.0 miles 10:10: 23.3 miles 10/13: 16.8 miles 10/14: 30.3 miles 10/15: 39.9 miles 10/16: 36.7 miles 10/17: 29.6 miles 10/21: 22.0 miles 10/22: 22.1 miles 10/23: 30.0 miles 10/24: 21.9 miles 10/27: 29.4 miles…
  • There, made one to celebrate my goal today :)
  • I hit my (initial) goal weight today, super bummed that our tickers aren't in our signatures. I waited 11 months to get here: Here's my before/after from a few weeks ago: Never thought I would actually succeed, so I didn't really put a thought into what the appropriate end would be. Now I know I want to hit a certain size,…
  • Formerly borderline morbidly obese here. I started at 1440 calories, plus some exercise calories back. I ate what I used to eat just smaller portion sizes, with a few more veggies thrown in. And that's still how I eat. For exercise, I started walking over my lunch hour, and slowly upped the time until I was walking 2 hours…
  • I worked at McDonalds for several years in high school and college and still love it. Now I plan it into my week. I'm not going to eat it every day, but I'll have one day that I'll pencil it in and look forward to and savor when it finally arrives. Before you go to work, plan your daily food and do a pre-diary entry to see…
