Left side of my profile picture is me after riding a 50 mile tour at my highest weight, 205 lbs. Right side is me currently, still biking :) I started out riding a mile from my house, turning around and coming home. Then the next day, riding out a bit further and then coming back home. I didn't push myself to go fast, just…

It's been a bit of a slow month, but then again it is February. In Minnesota. I'm hoping to finish the month strong and bike most of the remaining days. A possible high of 54 on Saturday means I may bring out my road bike. Dear God how I miss my road bike. Don't get me wrong, I love my trusty vintage schwinn winter rig,…

Back on MFP after several months away. Need to tighten things up so I don't gain back the weight I've lost. After a few years of bike commuting, I took up winter biking last March. So far so good this winter here in Minneapolis. Unfortunately we got quite a bit of snow last week that melted over the weekend and is now…

5'1 Starting weight 205 lbs Currently maintaining at 120 lbs. When I was at my highest, I started at 1450 calories per day to lose 1 lb a week. MFP took away 50 calories per 10 lbs lost, until I hit 1200 calories per day. I ate back half my exercise calories and averaged 1.5 lbs lost per week. I biked a lot a lot a lot for…

I've eaten fast food about once a week while losing 85 lbs in a year, and now maintaining. The key for me is to never give in to the cravings. If I want some McDonalds, I'm not going to eat it now. I'm going to plan ahead and eat it a few days, when I can plan my daily food and fit it in. It might mean a smaller breakfast…

A superhero costume. Done and done:

Thanks for the kind words everyone. If you want to cosplay, I'd highly encourage you to go out and DO IT, even if you're not at your goal weight. It is tons of fun, and if anything, you will have awesome, unique progress photos for when you finally do reach the end:

After a very productive 2014 in terms of cycling (a bit more than 3,000 miles, most of it commuting to and from work from April to October), it all came to a crashing halt when the snow started to fall. I had intended to try my hand at winter biking, but kept procrastinating. Even though Minneapolis takes good care of it's…

Fairs are meant for eating. If you're going with a group of people, why not split a few different items? That way you get a little taste of the fair. You'll probably still go over your calorie limit, but it won't be as devastating as eating whole servings of fair fare. Also, if you've been on the healthy eating train for…

Hello! That is THE Pink Dalek and it is CON :) I'm local and will be back this summer, with new costumes! I've got these done, although will probably not have time to do the updated puffy jacket/puffy hair Rose Tyler from above: And I'm working on an Ace McShane from Doctor Who with an RPG launcher, and an X Wing Pilot :)…

My sister has long complained that her fingers are always cold and discolored in the winter. I thought, just get thicker gloves. And now that I'm about the same weight as she is, I truly do understand. Never hand my hands been so cold in winter. And they've never been discolored before now :/ I've finally found a drawback…

I would be happy to mentor a few newbies, especially if you're fellow geeks (or even better, cosplayers). Bonus points if you're a short geek (cuz short people have lower calorie limits and our own special problems). I'm 33 years old and have spent my entire adult life trying and failing to lose weight and get healthy. I…

Bad cosplay photos are 100% responsible for my weight loss success. Until I started cosplaying, I avoided having pictures taken of me like the plague. But if you're going to spend time on a costume, you want people to take pictures of it and you want to remember it. Those pictures were not pretty. I vowed that at the same…

Cosplay was a huge motivator on my journey. My profile pics are littered with the progress along the way :) Also, Minnesota! Consider yourself friended!

How are you with walking? If that's too much stress on the joints, I would see about joining one of the cheaper fitness places (24 hour fitness, snap fitness) to get access to a stationary bike. Any fitness DVD, even the lower impact ones, would be of similar stress as walking. I do a lot of different kinds of exercise,…

No, you don't need to be 99 lbs.

This website is pretty much all about counting calories. Why not give it a try and see if you can make it a part of your life, not a burden? I've lived this last year more fully than any other year in my adult life, all while counting calories, going to the gym and losing weight. I'm excited to continue on this path. I…

I keep really good chocolate chips on hand, and have a serving at the end of the day (or more, calories left over permitting). I like it because I can pop one or 2 in at a time and let them melt, savoring the flavor and taste.

I'm 5'1.3 I started out eating 1440 calories, which was slowly lowered as I lost weight until I hit 1200. I exercise quite a bit. When it wasn't snowing, I biked a lot, so was probably exercising 12-15 hours a week. I would eat back some exercise calories, but not all. I lost ~83 lbs in a year (from 205 to 122) , averaging…

I skip lunch or dinner, and enjoy a bit of each of the tasty treats that are offered.

Open your diary. Without knowing what you're eating, any advice is just a shot in the dark

*fingers crossed* I have this really great group of whovians coming in for CONsole room and/or CONvergence (4th of July weekend). Would love to add more to the mix!
-
Are you going to come to CONsole room the last week of May? Come hang out with whovians in the twin cities! They would totally know who Sue from catering is. We did I'm Gonna Be (500 miles) at karaoke at Chicago TARDIS and it got the best reception of any of the songs, expect perhaps time warp :)

The key is to not let it get you down. Eat your healthy dinner tonight. Wake up tomorrow morning and proceed as planned. An extra slice of cake or 2 isn't going to destroy everything, so long as you don't let it. If you're struggling with such a low amount of food, there are always different approaches. You could start…

Don't forget Sue from catering! One day when I find time in my costume schedule, I am going to do Sue from catering.

I know the feeling. I spent my 20s trying to lose weight - was on sparkpeople for many years on and off, went to the gym on and off, did weight watchers on and off. And I just kept gaining weight. This time around something clicked in my head. I had a rude awakening, and I kept that in my mind each and every day for the…

You won't really know until you reach the number. View it as something to work towards, and then once you get there, reassess and see how things stand. And be prepared for changes in the chest area. You'll probably lose some of that.

Hello! I'm a whovian cosplayer (as if you couldn't tell). I just celebrated my 1 year logging anniversary, and am just about at my goal, but I always love having more geeky friends. The goal isn't the end of the journey, so keep me company while I stick around and keep logging. If you send me a friend request, please…
