I set my calories to maintenance calories and just make sure i stay 500 and under on fast days.

5:2 is a take on intermittent fasting. I eat at maintenance on the days that I am not eating 500 calories (or "fasting"). On the days that I eat 500, I am usually busy working during the day and taking classes at night, so I don't have time to exercise.
