This week has been…
  • AF = 12 A = 2 Though I was tempted for an A night, it didn’t happen. We almost lost MIL today while my husband was visiting her when they were removing her chest tubes. She coded! Fortunately, ”a nurse brigade” and the doctor got her back. Hubby is very traumatized now. No idea if he’ll be able to handle another visit.🙁
  • Hi everyone… it’s been quite a week. 🥴 MIL is recovering well. They did have to put in that pacemaker, and she recovered well. They finally extubated her which was a huge step! No more ventilator, and she’s breathing very well on her own! Thank God! It’s been very stressful for me though because more than anything I have…
  • BMR is only the caloric burn you require to survive… this doesn’t take into account ANY activity you do. I’m sure you don’t just lay in bed all day doing nothing. You’re fine with limiting to 1200 calories.
  • I know pacemakers aren’t as big a concern as they used to be. It’s just another thing we weren’t expecting. That’s all. Thank you for the encouragement. 🙂
  • AF = 9 A = 1 Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts/vibes/prayers. We are hoping to see MIL fully awake today. I don’t feel the desire to drink again, but I am struggling with food right now… I’m a comfort food junkie/ stress eater as well. Plus, because of everything our schedules are way off, so I haven’t been…
  • AF = 8 A = 1 Whole bottle last night. No hangover slept hard from around midnight to 5:30am when my alarm went off. Dragging a little today, but otherwise ok. Went to the CVICU to see my MIL, and she’s trying to wake up. But, she’s now on a temporary pacemaker and there is talk of putting in a permanent one. We’ll see what…
  • @SparkSpringtime69 and @chicbuc thank you. I’ll try to keep it to 2 glasses, but I can’t promise anything tonight. I’ll do myself a favor and drink a glass of water between glasses of wine. That usually slows me down.
  • AF - 8 A - 0 Well… my AF streak may come to an end tonight. My mother-in-law passed out in a puddle of her own vomit yesterday morning and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance where she underwent emergency surgery for acute aortic dissection which was so bad it completely closed up the carotid to the left side of…
  • Thanks. I apparently blew it last week. I am up 2.6 lbs from the last weigh-in. 🙁 We ate at a few locally owned restaurants that don’t have nutritional menus, so I must not have logged those calories correctly. I didn’t even drink though. I’ll just have to work twice as hard this week to lose weight. No exceptions this…

  • AF - 7 A - 0 Tomorrow is weigh-in for the challenge group I’m in, and I’m nervous I didn’t lose and worse yet… I gained. I have been logging everything, and I can’t see why I wouldn’t lose weight… but I’m nervous all the same.
  • AF - 6 A - 0 @Jthanmyfitnesspal thanks. I didn’t really plan it, but I just haven’t been buying it. I go to the grocery store with a list, and because I hate shopping and I coupon I only shop for what is on my list. I go fast, and I don’t deviate from my list… EVER! Which means if wine is not on my list, I end up walking…
  • I felt so much better after I quit my job. It was super stressful… not the work itself or the people out in the field I worked with, but the 3 catty b***ches that made up “my team” stressed me out constantly. When I gave my notice, I was so excited! When I finally turned in my computer, it felt like the best day of my…
  • AF - 5 A - 0 Big night, but no drinks.
  • Not going up is definitely a good thing even though there is no loss. Just keep at it! You’ll see results soon. I’m sure you are aware a million things contribute to no movement on the scale… water weight, time of day, muscle growth (even walking builds muscles), low/new batteries in the scale😉 lol, etc. Just keep going,…
  • I know avoiding triggering situations is easiest when trying to quit/reduce alcohol. What’s the possibility of asking the mister to help you not order wine tonight and him just to remind you not to? I know if I ask my hubby to help me not to order wine, he’ll ask me if I really want it when I order it. I’ll usually then…
  • AF - 4 A - 0 Still don’t have any wine in the house, so won’t be drinking tonight either. I do also drink dirty martinis and old fashions, but I’m just not in the mood or craving those flavors right now. Wine I can drink any time. It always hits the spot for me.
  • AF - 3 A - 0 Don’t even have it in the house to drink if I wanted it. 🙂
  • I think it will. My MIL lives with us and helps me a lot with my daughter. I explained some of the ideas to her, and she liked it a lot. So, we might be onto something. Feeling good about this! 🙂
  • Interesting… I took her quiz, and I’m a cricket. I guess I should let my daughter take her quiz too. I have a feeling she’s a butterfly though. I like some of her ideas for organizing, and we did implement some of the ideas already. I can make a few adjustments though that will work better for her based on some of the…
  • AF - 2 A - 0 @zensome why does ADHD do that to our kids? It’s so frustrating. BTW, I have never been diagnosed OCD, but I do have a very strict way things have to be done including my cleaning routine. My whole family jokes I am OCD. I’m sure I’m not just because I know there is more to it, but I lean into the joke because…
  • AF - 1 A - 0 Spent ALL DAY cleaning my daughter’s bedroom. 🙁 We took out 6 bags of trash, 3 bags of donations, did 3 furniture repairs, and still have to shampoo the carpet. It was disgusting. My daughter’s ADHD and my OCD just do not get along. BUT, typically, I would have downed a bottle of wine after all that. I didn’t…
  • I completely understand, @MsElphaba. I lost 50lbs and about 10 years ago fell off the wagon. I’m 49, and I’m starting all over again. So far, I’m down 9lbs. So, I’m hopeful it’ll continue going well for me. Wish you all the best too!
  • Back for another month. I think holding myself accountable to the group helped a lot. I’m a red wine drinker and can easily down a bottle a night. But, not without consequences which include hangovers, lack of sleep, night sweats, weight gain, lack of energy, fights with the husband, and more. My ultimate goal is to…
  • AF - 20 A - 11 Well, I blew it last night and didn’t meet the 5-day AF challenge. I was sitting there watching a movie last night and decided to have some wine. I had 2 glasses and went to bed.
  • April Start Weight: 191.6 lbs April Goal Weight: 184.6 lbs Ultimate Goal Weight: 155 lbs April 1: 191.6 lbs April 8: April 15: April 22: April 29: April 30: Breaking into the 180s this month! 😁 “Deferred joys purchased by sacrifice are always sweetest and most enduring.” ~Archbishop Fulton Sheen
  • AF - 20 A - 10 We are having lots of family over today. I usually drink wine when so many are over, but I just fasted for 2 days. I have no idea how my body would react to alcohol right now. So between that and being 1 day away from finishing strong on the 5-day challenge to finish up March AF, I will probably avoid the…

  • AF - 19 A - 10 Per the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, DH and I are attempting the Paschal Fast, fasting all of Good Friday through the Saturday Easter Vigil which will end about 11:00pm Saturday. So, if there is no food, there is definitely no alcohol. @MissMay thank you for starting the April post. I will be back! 🙂…
