I've had a similar experience - I feel your pain! I've had so many embarrassing moments I'm not sure which I'd pick as the worst! Good luck with your goals!

Hi Kristin! I'm Patty. Feel free to add me.

@HLaR79 and bevkidd1, good for both of you!!

I haven't participated for far too long in the groups. So my first goal is to participate with some consistency! My second goal is to get my eating back under control. I've lost a lot -- over 100 lbs -- but have gained about 9 back since last fall. Trying to stop the gain.

Hi and welcome! If you're using a Fitbit, you can sync it to your MFP account so that your steps are reflected. For instance, if I have a high number of steps on a given day, MFP gets that info and increases my calorie goal proportionately. Not sure about other devices though. But I'd think that if your device isn't say…

I can SOOOO relate! Same thing began happening to me right around when I hit the 50-lbs lost mark. Once you stop eating, all those feelings come up and you don't want to resort to your go-to food. So what do you do with them?? Here's what's worked for me, at least sometimes. A psychologist who specializes in treating…

In the short term I try deep breathing exercises. The Dartmouth College student health website has some good, short downloads of breathing exercises. If it's longer term stress, you may have to work on changing the underlying situation that's causing the stress., especially if it's taking you off track with eating.…

So glad you came back! Most of us have been where you are weight-wise (losing and regaining), so we understand. Just try to make small changes, one at a time. And be sure to give yourself credit for your accomplishments! You're surviving daily situations more difficult than many of us ever even have to face. Be kind to…

What great NSVs! Congrats! I had an NSV today that took me by surprise. Ever since I was a kid I've had bad knees. My kneecaps aren't in quite the right spot. I've had two surgeries on my right knee and one on my left. My right one has been so bad for the past several years that, coupled with my weight, I have not been…

Hi Emma, Love your idea of setting small goals! That's how I've been successful. I've also been learning not to blame myself -- at least not in the same way as I have in the past. Over the past year, I've begun to understand why I eat. I use food as a survival/ coping mechanism in many ways. It's actually a pretty…

Hi everyone! My name is Patty. I'm 55 and have been overweight for a lifetime. I finally found a wellness program that integrates medical, nutritional, psychological and exercise components -- it's the National Center for Weight and Wellness in Washington DC -- and it's working! I started in 2012 at 375+ pounds (I say "+"…

Yikes! Your situation certainly is a challenge! I like the idea of seeing a nutritionist -- both for yourself and your son. A good nutritionist will be able to help you sort out how to handle the competing issues you're faced with. Good luck -- and I'm looking forward to your updates!

At 70 and working on the next 70!

You've made great progress -- and you need to tell yourself that everyday! I've experienced the same frustration, especially since my body seems to let go of weight in spurts rather than at a nice steady pace. It helps me to focus on how much better I feel, and how I've developed new healthy habits that I can sustain in…

This! There is no "wagon" you step on and off. It's just life -- and you making choices to have a healthy one!

I tried a bunch of the suggestions people have made. But nothing worked until I had cortisone injections in my heel. That along with store bought orthotics have done the trick.
