Haven't posted on here for ages as I've been feeling rubbish, sickness and exhaustion are beginning to fade now though! I'm 13 weeks tomorrow, have my dating scan on Monday (will be my 4th scan, hence already knowing the dates!) Unfortunately my husband will be away on a course so I'll be on my own. We've just been…

Just had the early scan and saw a tiny heartbeat! Measuring a little bit small, but I knew I ovulated late so I'm not too worried. Getting a bit more real now, beginning to let myself get excited!

Congrats to everyone who has just found out! I'm 7 weeks tomorrow, but having a scan on friday due to complications early on. I'm a massive worrier, so hopefully friday will put my mind at ease! I haven't felt like exercising these last few days, I walked to and from the hospital a few times last week (about 5 miles) which…

Apparently banana's are good for morning sickness, I've been having one each morning and didn't get any sickness until today, after I forgot to buy more and ran out! Could just be a conincidence, but I'm going to buy some more and hope they help!

Welcome all those who've just joined :) I am now 6 weeks along (so still very early!) and have just had a scan as I had some pain. Everything looks good but it was too early to see a heartbeat so I'm having another scan next week. Hope everyone is doing ok :)

Congratulations to you both :) I read somewhere that you should eat at maintenance for the first 3 months, then you need between 200 and 300 extra calories a day for the last 6 months, but I plan on checking with my midwife when I go and meet her next month! At the moment I'm trying to eat at maintenance but have been a…

I found out on Saturday I'm pregnant after 5 months of trying, very excited and very, very scared! Due on the 15th of January with my first, still very early days so only me, my husband and my GP know so far. So sorry Danae16 :(

I'm definately not an expert, but I lift heavy (for me, I'm still quite weak but getting there!) and have lost inches, not gained. There is also loads of other women's heavy lifting sucess stories on here who have lost loads of inches by lifting heavy and not doing any cardio.

I saw someone on here say that losing up to 1% of your weight per week healthily, which makes sense to me :)

I wouldn't worry about what MFP says you net, if your logging your exercise then your counting it twice as it's already been counted in your TDEE (its still a good idea to log so you can track your exercise). I think what you've decided to do looks great, try it for a month or so and if your not getting the results you…

TDEE takes into account exercise, so if she ate her exercise calories as well so would be counting them twice and overeating. Or am I missing something? Lifting is the best way to maintain muscle, and it's fun! I did a variable calorie diet last year, (when I was loosing weight, now on here to check my nutrition) eating…

I havent read all of this thread, but I did see I think saying any mum who is concerned about her weight was 'very vain to begin with' is a bit narrow minded. I admit I have no experience, me and my partner are currently trying for a baby (I'm on here to track nutrients and make sure I'm eating right) but I hope that I…

I'd be interested in seeing some scientific evidence that eating below your BMR is damaging. It's something that's said a lot on here but I've never seen anyone provide the scientific backing to go with it

Amazing video! My husband recons it's the American Gym out in Afghan where he trained whilst he was out there.
-
Also, as someone else said, you can't just say FACT and expect everyone to believe you, link to some studies and people may take you seriously. If you have no scientific studies to back up what your saying, maybe you should consider whether it is you that has been brainwashed, rather than those who do research before…

I'm allergic to nuts, does that mean I can't be healthy? I don't understand this. Eating 3000 calories of beans and salads would make me put on weight. Eating a surplus of ANYTHING will make you put on weight. Things high in sugar tend to be high in calories. For purely weight loss, that is the only problem.
-
I agree you should try and mix it up a bit. There are times when I really hate running, but I always love weights. I like cycling and swimming, but am not that keen on rowing. Try new things and see if there is something you enjoy :)
-
I might be wrong, but isn't BMR the ammount of energy you would use if you stayed in bed all day? I think even if you are sedentary and don't exercise at all you times BMR by 1.2, giving 1680 Kcals. If you are moderately active it gives 2170

Also, on the subject of bra measurements, someone gave me this link which is much more accurate for me than any other calculator! http://www.atlastravel.nazwa.pl/mini/ (strange link, but its good!)

I have the same issue with dresses, in English sizes my chest is a 12, waist is a 6 and bottoms are 10 :/ Stretchy tops are great, and I've gotten quite good at taking things in! and belts around the waist are great :) High waisted skirts are great for tucking bigger tops into them :)

Tescos have 2.5kg of white potatos for £1.95 which I thought was pretty good :) they also do tins of three bean salad for £1, I bought 3 and made bean soup, split into portions and froze it for a quick meal when I didn't have any time. Go onto the websites of the shops near you and compare proces before you go :)

Some great advice on this thread :) I was always worried about people watching me but, in my gym at least, no one pays attention to each other as we're all there to work out :) Maybe take a pack or wet wipes/ baby wipes to clean the machines? I don't think I'd want to use my towel after rubbing down a machine!

This sounds strange, but when I had problems with my back I couldn't cycle, so I used to lie on the floor behind the exercise bike and cycle from there. It's something you could only do at home but it worked well for me whilst I was injured. Whatever exercise you do, I would start slowly, with a few minutes of light…

I always plan at least the main meals for the next few days, this week I've been planning everything! I am a compulsive planner so I love it haha

In the UK it think two. One size to get down to a 20, another to an 18. Also, your husband might have noticed but not be sure what to say, my husband is always worried he'll insult me if he mentions my weight lol, even if it's a positive thing

Everyone is different, boobs are the last place I lose from (which is good and bad, 30F bras are hard to find) Remember that Cup size is in relation to band size. So a 36D the cup is also smaller than a 34D, not just the band. A 36D is equal to a 34DD/E

Made these for my husband for tea, really easy to make :) But MFP calculates them as almost 90 cals, which is still less than the 160 ones I was buying!

My dad is a type 2 diabetic, he bought a blood sugar monitor and took it daily until his blood sugar stabalised. He found that if he went for a long walk the night before his blood sugar was a lot lower than if he had eaten the same but not exercised. Don't do anythign without talking to your Doctor, but if they agree it…

I can't find a rolling eye smiley  I might be wrong, but what I got from the OP is: "Here is a video about why you shouldn't eat too few calories for you, check it out" He isn't saying "Watch this, and do exactly what it says without any more research" Bodybuilders are human and a lot of them do a lot of research in…

The above example was refering to those who claim they weigh more than others dispite eating less, so must have bad genetics. Almost all of the time they just eat more and their there genes don't magically make them fat. Hormonal changes may effect appitite, and therefore make it harder on an emotional/mental level (which…
