I'll third that. Everywhere I've read states that most of our protein should be from animals. Whey is okay from time to time, but it is lacking in many of the micronutrients that exist in meat.

I'm not sure how the figures work in metric. Most articles I've seen recommend you get your body weight in lbs of protein. ( or at least your lean body mass.) So if your lean mass is 60 kg, you should shoot for 60×2.2 (132 grams of protein). For fats you multiply that by 0.4 for around 53 grams of fat. Let you carbs…

If I'm going to eat junk food, I might as well eat the real thing and try to limit it to no more than once a week. The "healthy" alternatives are never as good, and just make me want the real thing even more.

Get more sleep. When I did 12 hour night shifts I ate a small meal every 3 hours that I was awake. My meals went midnight to midnight so I ate more on the first day, and less on the last. I also took a 3 hour nap before my first shift and slept for 6 hours following my last shift. Sleep is an important part of physical…

When I use the Elliptical machine, I set it on intervals and shoot for a resistance of 15 to 20. I think the max resistance on the one's that I use is around 20 and it takes major effort from both my arms and legs to keep it moving. It makes for a good workout, but it is still just a cardio workout and doesn't provide…

Have you tried increasing the resistance on the elliptical? Body weight exercises are great if you don't have any weights. Pull-ups, push-ups, dip, lunges, squats...

You can learn some transformation programs on Bodybuilding.com for free. I did Body for life several years ago, and it worked quite well for me.
How do you sync the samsung watch with MFP? I recently started using the gear fit and I can't find a way to sync them.
I have the Gear 2. I use the Endomondo app to sync my workout to MFP. I didn't like the heart rate monitor on the gear, ( it will only take your pulse while you are resting), so I bought…

My Polar H7 links with Endomondo. My Endomondo app links with MFP.

Bananas are good and healthy, but they are higher in sugar than many other fruits. It's best to ask a doctor whether you should avoid them for diabetic reasons, or not. (I think it depends on the severity of one's diabetes.) I usually like to add half a frozen banana to a protein shake. I've read that carbs that are higher…

That's what I always did. I even slept through the meetings. Now I'm inactive, so I don't do Fast Sunday, anymore.

I also don't log my calories from my pedometer. I can log 10,000 steps a day while at work doing my job. I just set my activity level at light active. I only count workout calories, and only eat about half of them back.
-
Are you working out on an empty stomach?
-
Time your workout and add it as strength training in the cardio section. You could also use the Endomondo app, but I think they both over-estimate the calories burnt.
-
Start tracking your calories. Everything you eat or drink....including the oils, marinades, and condiments that you use to cook or flavor your food and your cheat meal. I've had cheat meals that set me back an entire week on my weight. Without properly tracking your diet, it is very easy to gain weight.

Pull-ups. Dead lifts, squats.

I use Jefit to track my lifts, and Wendler 531 app to tell me how much to lift. I haven't tried Fitocracy, but Jefit works well for me.
-
Endomondo will also log strength training calories to My fitness pal, but they seem rather high, as well.
-
Does Mfp figure caloric burn in the strength training section now? I've always had to log strength training as cardio to have it log my exercise calories.

I like going before work if I can. I'm lucky to see more than 5 people in the gym at 1:30 in the morning. I have more energy when I get up plus I can get on nearly anything I want without having to wait for someone else.

The one I used had dumbbells that went up to 70 lbs, Barbells that went up to 90 lbs, 3 Smith machines, and a leg press machine that took Olympic plates. They also had a cable station for things like lat pulls, triceps push downs and seated cable pulls. The problems for me came when my strength gains progressed past their…

I have a Planet Fitness and a 24 hour fitness within a half mile from my apartment. I used the planet Fitness for a while when I first moved here. For $20 per month I could use the tanning and bring a friend or family member with me for free. They were very limited on their equipment, but it was all in good condition, and…

It depends on all your goals and what you like to do. Do you like cardio? Do you have a goal to do a 5 or 10k, or a marathon? Do you like lifting? Are you looking to get stronger? Lifting heavy weights works well for toning. Your best bang for your buck will be to put priority on heavy compound lifts like the ones focused…

I was doing some work in the power rack one day and I saw one of the gym trainers workingwith a lady in the squat rack next to me teaching her Romanian dead lifts. Her back was rounding as she did her lifts. He made no attempt to correct her form. A good trainer can be worth their weight in gold, but most of the gym…

I've used mine along with the runkeeper app that uses GPS to figure distance. My runkeeper claimed I went 1.4 miles. The S- health claimed that I went 1.7 miles. It's not real accurate, but there is no way to calibrate it to your normal step distance like with other pedometers. I do like to use it to try to hit the 10,000…

You could always do Romanian Deadlifts where you start from the lowest setting in the power rack and go down, but the purpose of the deadlift is to pick things up off the floor. Be careful lifting from the floor with anything on the bar that is smaller than a 45 lb plate. The smaller plates make you start in a lower…

There are tons of videos on Youtube, Bodybuilding.com, T-nation.com and several others with some pretty good workout routines. You can also Google Starting Strength from Mark Rippetoe, and if he doesn't want to read the book, can watch some good videos on proper form. Starting Strength is a good program, especially for…
