  • I'd stick with the higher weight. Once you can complete 12 reps for each set, increase the weight, again. Are you giving yourself enough rest between sets? You may want to give yourself longer rest between circuits to complete your sets. Never sacrifice form to get those reps, either. Make sure you use proper form. It will…
  • I was always taught to tighten my abs for any exercise... So if you tighten your abs when curling your toes, I'm sure that will work, too.
  • I'm 43, and I gained about 40 + lbs in less than 2 years. It has taken me about 5 months to lose it, again. It is very hard to keep myself disciplined. I understand what you are going through.
  • Any exercise you can do, if done with proper form, will work your abs. Other than the all-nighter I pulled with my wife on our first night together, I don't think my abs have ever been as sore as they were when I did a workout consisting of 100 pull ups, 100 dips, and 100 pushups.
  • I blend my spinach and mix it in my smoothies. I made one today out of spinach, sprite zero, protein powder, about 1/2 cup frozen cherries, and a 1/4 cup of frozen rasberries. added about 2 tablespoons of lime juice, and some ice cubes. Came out tasting like sherbet. It ended up too thick to drink, so I ate it with a…
  • That actually looks quite tasty. I do prefer toaster strudels to most poptarts. I haven't eaten either one, in years.

  • Too much, by MFP standards is too little. Too much protein for it to be bad for you means enough protein that you exceed your daily allowance for calories. It is fine to go over MFP's goals for protein. They set them for your average sedentary person. Most people shoot for 1 to 2 grams per kilogram of lean body weight.…

  • I tried to fuel my workout one day with a huge breakfast burrito from a local fast food restaurant, and my workout was very sluggish, and suffered, tremendously. I thought that the carbs from the potatoes, and tortilla, would have helped, but it made it worse. I can see the reason for this argument....But, There are…
  • I plan my meals from midnight to midnight. It makes up for the extra meals on my first night, and the lack of meals when I go back to a day schedule. I try to workout as soon as I get up, whatever schedule I am on. Some days it is at 3 am, others at 8 am, and on my night shifts at 1pm. I've been working the same rotating…
  • My wife turned 40 last year. She is so hot all the time I usually have to cover myself up with a blanket to keep myself from getting hypothermia.
  • This.... My wife is not dieting. We both eat differently. She has her Paradise cookies that she freezes, then eats daily. I have my protein shakes. If I make food my wife likes, she will eat it. If not, I freeze it, and use it for work meals. If my wife makes something that I can fit in my calorie range, that I like, I…
  • I don't like Mayo, or salad dressings. I always get funny looks when I eat plain salads, but that is the way I like them.
  • "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." My wife thinks I'm hot. That's all I need.
  • I've read my many who only consume one to two meals a day, that the 30 gram absorption is myth. They do just fine getting over 100 grams of protein in one meal. As far as how much protein to take post workout. I don't think it matters a whole lot. I take one scoop(around 24 grams of protein with a carb, but that is also…
  • These are my favorite. I love the almond brownie ones. I've only seen them at my gym, and on Bodybuilding.com, though.
  • I freeze mine, then throw them in a toaster to heat up when I am ready to eat. I make them out of oats, egg whites, and cottage cheese.
  • Yes. Especially if it is a dessert. I don't like seeing desserts go to waste. I also use my roll, bread, or biscuits to sop up all the gravy on my plate.
  • I used to do regular graham cracker pie crusts, then I went to reduced fat ones, then I found out the reduced fat ones still have a little bit of trans fat, so I did some experimenting, and came out with blending my fiber one graham cereal to a powder, mixing it with some egg whites, splenda, and a little water to make it…
  • 1 scoop of protein powder, (with vanilla the spinach will turn the shake green, with chocolate it will be greenish brown. I prefer vanilla for looks) 1/2 tsp peppermint extract 1/4 cup milk 2 to 3 cups of spinach, or as much as you want. (if you freeze it first, it will help thicken the shake) sweetener to taste. 1 frozen…
  • Diet Dr. Pepper is one of the only diet sodas I can tolerate. It is close enough to the real thing for me that I can drink it.
  • Instead of regular pie, I make protein pie. Instead of mint chocolate chip ice cream, I make mint chocolate chip spinach protein ice cream. instead of brownies I make.... Well, I haven't found a good substitution for brownies, (the protein ones don't compare), so I have brownies on special occasions.
  • Talk to your doctor to find out why you are having the knee pain. Get his/her advice on exercises that will affect them. Sometimes squatting with good form will actually strengthen the muscles that are affecting the knees to help get rid of the knee problem. Sometimes they may make the problem worse. It depends on what is…
  • I eat them with nearly every meal. Many times right before bed. For most people they won't affect your weight loss. They aren't necessary, since you don't need the energy they are supposed to provide when you are sleeping, but they won't hinder weight loss.
  • I have issues with McDonald's ketchup. I can only eat their breakfasts, and the grilled chicken sandwich is okay. (I love the sausage, and egg Mcmuffin.) My favorite fast food burger is the Western Bacon six dollar burger from Carl's Jr.
  • My diary is always open.
  • Does your daughter have a brother, or sister? You could blame it on them...
  • I've never seen it here. I may have to check Costco on my next trip. The only low calorie bread I've seen is the Sara Lee 45 calorie ones.
  • I've been squatting once or twice a week since August, (Just increased it to 3 times a week.) have been in a caloric deficit the whole time, and increased my 1 rep max by about 75 lbs. My thigh measurements have gone down, as I've reduced my body fat down by 15%.....and I have testosterone. As long as you are in a caloric…
  • Real soda contains High fructose corn syrup, which is just as controversial a topic as artificial sweeteners. I personally don't care, either way. I don't like the taste of most diet sodas, so will only drink certain ones, on occasion. I will also drink regular soda, on occasion.

  • Too much of anything is bad for you. I will drink it, once in a while, with no adverse affects.
