  • I don't drink beer. It's estrogenic. Problem solved. :)
  • My niece worked as a waitress, and at a few places she lost money, because she has to pay a certain amount to the servers, no matter how much she is tipped. She is also a single mom. My son also buses tables. The waiters pay him a percentage of money from their tips. It is very rude to tip less than 10% You are stealing…
  • If the vomiting is related to stress, there won't be anything physically wrong with you that will show up on tests. Stress needs to be controlled, either by taking anti-anxiety pills, or by finding ways to relieve yourself of what is causing you the stress.
  • canned tuna is pretty cheap. Eggs are usually cheap. Wal-mart sells Body Fortress for about $15 for 2lbs of protein.
  • I'd recommend seeing a therapist, or psychologist to help lower your stress levels. Stress is never good on a person's body, and if it is leading to vomiting, it is definitely not healthy.
  • The more you do it, the less severe the pain after working out. When you first start lifting, It'll usually take about a week for the soreness to go away, and it will hurt. After a few consistent workouts the pain gets less strong, and doesn't last as long. after a while you will be looking to change your routine to get…
  • From what I've read, your body needs fuel for your lifting workouts. I would eat a small meal, or drink a protein shake before, or during your weight training workout. Your body needs the BCAAs if there are no carbs to fuel your muscles.
  • No. From what I understand from your question, if you want to lose the flabby you will need to start a weight training program. You will not look like Hulk Hogan unless you either have the body type that builds muscle easily, or start taking steroids. I went from about 230 to 153 about 5 years ago. I believe I have the…
  • Bodybuilding.com has quite a few workouts, and shows video on how to do them. If you have a smart phone, you can also download an app called Jefit that will also have some sample routines, and explanations on how to do certain exercises.
  • i went to a physical therapist for my knees. He has me doing some exercises to strengthen my glutes. Monster walks, and kick backs with a band, I believe he called them Bavarian lunges, where you put your back leg on a table, and squats with my feet more forward. (butt back as if going to sit down.) He also had me warming…
  • I don't do the videos, but I do change my workout in the gym periodically. In fact it's recommended to change your routine about every 6 weeks, or so. Changing videos, is really no different. People need to do what they like doing. Whether it's videos, gym, sports, outdoor cycling, running, or hiking. Whatever gets you off…
  • My squats and leg presses were fine, too. My physical therapist had me doing them in a way that affects my glutes, more than my quads. I have to make sure my knees are way forward when I do them.
  • This. I had knee pain, so I talked to my doctor, who referred me to an orthopedic specialist, who referred me to a physical therapist. He determined that mine was due to weak quads, and has me doing exercises to strengthen them. It could be something different for you. Talk to a professional. They can help you to keep from…
  • I actually wasn't looking for answers. I have my own opinions on some of these. These were things I've read articles on lately, that were brought up as things that people "should do" to lose weight. They were written by professional personal trainers, bodybuilders, and nutritionists. Many experts still believe the myths,…
  • I read an article in a fitness magazine, once that compared Popeye's diet to Wimpy. Wimpy's hamburgers do a lot better at building muscle than Popeye's spinach.
  • I've read many different articles from different sites. I've read about many of the myths out there about nutrition, and fitness. Sometimes I think the more I read, the more confused I get. I came to the conclusion that there is either a lot of guess work going on, or some things work for certain body types, somethings…
  • Body weight exercises are good. try ones that will put your weight to good work, like jump squats. Youtube has quite a bit of exercise routines that you can do. I bought a lot of weights from thrift stores at a good deal, if you want to get real weights, you may want to look around. I'm sure you can buy them cheap in the…
  • Whole foods are usually best, but Most Whey protein shakes come with BCAAs to help maintain muscle, and help with recovery from your workout. If you are going to use protein shakes, look for ones that are low in sugar. I prefer using powdered Whey, then mixing it with skim milk, and frozen fruit. For a pre-bedtime snack, I…
  • On most days that I'm on day shift, I do cardio in the morning, then, if it is a weight training day, I go to the gym after work. My weight training workouts are too long for me to be able to go before work, unless I want to get up at 1:30 am. instead of 2:30.
  • Since I live in Utah, my electoral vote will go to Romney. That's why I voted for Cookie Monster.
  • It does come down to taste. :) I like to use protein powder to cure my craving for sweets. I can make a spinach protein shake that tastes every bit as good as a mint chocolate chip shake at the local drive inn. I can make protein pies, puddings, cakes, and brownies, which may take some getting used to, but help me to stay…
  • I use pita bread. pizza sauce, 2% cheese, mushrooms, spinach, onions, and either turkey pepperoni, or grilled chicken. Sometimes I will use light bbq sauce instead of pizza sauce on my chicken pizzas.

  • Most protein powders are around 140 calories per serving. They are good to take around your workouts. I don't care much for them in plain water, but they are good blended with some skim milk, and frozen fruit. The fruit will also help get the protein to the muscles, especially high GI fruits like bananas. For a morning…
  • What most people are saying is to concentrate on gaining size first, which means you will put on some fat, but with muscle gains, when you decide to cut, you will look, and feel tons better. When I was going for my six pack I did a workout called ab-boot camp. I think it has been removed from the website I found it at,…
  • When I started dieting over 5 years ago, my wife, at the time, was doing weight watchers, and I followed Body For Life. She ate mostly tv dinners, because it was easier for her to figure out her points. I started cooking my own meals, and using the leftovers to take to work. It was good for me, because we divorced about 2…
  • I used to go to Gold's gym all the time. I lived within a mile of the place, so it made it easy to go. When I moved, It was about 5 miles a way, and I stopped going. That's one reason I went with Planet fitness, this time. It is only half a mile from my place, and I can walk, getting extra cardio. I am only less than a…
  • As long as you're not diabetic, or insulin sensitive, sugar from fruit shouldn't affect your weight loss. I've heard recommendations, to avoid carbs before bed, since you don't need the energy to sleep, but I haven't noticed any adverse affects from eating them. I think it all depends on your body type. If you are not…

  • MFP sets mine at 50. (Probably due to calories, and I think it goes up when I exercise.) As long as you are getting most of your sugars from fruits, you should be fine.

  • Most places I've read have recommended: no more than 2 to 3 servings of fruit per day. What did you get with a banana, and an apple? I would go slightly higher than that for your sugar goal. For protein, I believe you have to set it up as a percentage. I have mine set at 40% protein 40% carb, and 20% fats. Most people…

  • You can change your macros. I am currently eating more protein than MFP recommends. I changed it in my settings to 40% of my calories. You can also have it do the same with sugars, and up it to a more reasonable number for eating fruit.
